#2355478 Babcock: Is he the right guy going forward?

Posted by puckbags on 14 February 2013 - 12:36 PM

I think a huge sign of a good coach is how you deal with roster turnover and injuries.  We haven't played two games in a row this year with the same lineup I don't think. Decimated by injuries and the loss of the best d man of the last 20 years.  We are 7-4-2.  I have never lost faith in Babs and I sure won't start now.

#2355332 Dan Cleary appreciation thread

Making a thread mocking Cleary is pretty s***ty though I must say.  I like everyone else agrees he is done but he has more than served this team well over the years.

I agree....sit Cleary and send Andersson back to GR and give a bone to Sheahan and Ferraro.

Andersson hasn't done anything terrible but he also hasn't done anything to stand out..throw a bone to someone else in GR and see what they have.  While we are missing an entire 5 man unit to injury now would be the time to try some different guys out.

#2354493 Biggest mistake Red Wings have done

Posted by puckbags on 12 February 2013 - 07:15 PM

biggest mistake the wings have done in my opinion is being way too loyal to the veterans and past players instead of letting the kids play , it really bugs the hell out of me that we signed samuelsson in the summer and now hes only played 2 games and is out yet again with a damn groin injury(pretty sure he always had that when he was here )

tatar is in his 4th season in grand rapids , nyquist should of started the season in the top 6 .... guys like  mursak, samuelsson, miller, bertuzzi they should all be gone

we cant expect to add in a bunch of rookies all in the same year , we have to gradually insert them into our lineup so they can learn from the veterans

I know tatar and andersson and probably lashoff will eventually all be back in the ahl but both tatar and lashoff as well as nyquist should be up

its time to get rid of the junk this team has and let the future get some games in

If these are what we are considering mistakes then I'm pretty sure I won't lose any sleep tonight over them.  Been a fan for 20 years and we have won 4 cups in that time and we are questioning the over protective loyalty of this franchise? Loyalty of any sort is almost impossible to find these days..maybe we need more of it?

#2354225 Joey MacDonald claimed by Calgary off waivers

A little insight from Bob McKenzie...

Good for Joey Mac, he got thrown into the fire here a few times and did a more than capable job.  good luck to him in Calgary

I know Kenny always takes heat for the guys that he supposedly didn't sign or trade for and somehow it was Bowman who found him even though he doesnt have anything to do with this team anymore but this Brunner kid is something.

#2352936 General thoughts: this team, its future, the league...

Posted by puckbags on 08 February 2013 - 01:24 PM

Im in agreement for the most part. Dont want to give up on Kindl just yet. His pricetag is in check.

I hate that Holland spent 15 mil per on 7-8 sucky guys insteD of 18 mil per on 2 guys. Thats our biggest problem. We have 27 roster players, and only a handful of them are legit. Bertuzzi, Gustavsson, Quincey, Tootoo, Samuelsson, Huskins, Colo, etc. The Return on Investment for these players has been awful so far. Holland did us in when he failed to land Parise and Suter. His checkbook should have been open. But now it looks like we are playing moneypuck. Im not that excited about the Red Wings turning into the Oakland A's of hockey.

Where are these guys that you speak of? Suter ? We put a huge offer out for him..he was never coming here..he wanted to play in Minny..end of conversation on that one.  Check out that link with the top defensive scorers on it.  There isn't one guy in the top 30 that is head and shoulders above the rest.  Alot of really good guys there but spending 10 mil a year on any of those guys is crazy.

What? Obviously the return on investement on Colo, Sammy and Gustavsson is still up for debate because they have been injured.  Tootoo has done everything they would've wanted out of him so far..he's been physical, dropped the gloves and changed the flow of games when we needed it.  Bert is what he is, 3rd line guy..10-15 goals a year..good contract..good team guy.  Quincey would be tolerable if we didnt give up a 1st for him..that one hurts.  Huskins was an emergency guy playing for peanuts and doing everything they asked of him. Get over the Parise and Suter thing..you don't get it..they were never playing here..we offered them huge money and they wanted to play in Minny.

Thomas might not want to play ever again now that he's stuck on the Isle.

#2351980 Toughness

Posted by puckbags on 06 February 2013 - 11:54 AM

Are the Wings too soft? I understand a sliced leg and broken bones, but our whole team sits out with owies. Im getting a little fed up with soreness issues.

You get fed up with everything and we all know about it because you start a thread every 12 seconds. Maybe you are soft?

#2351977 Howard = Average

Posted by puckbags on 06 February 2013 - 11:48 AM

Howard= needs a rest

He hasn't been good the last couple of games but throwing him under the bus at this point is such fair weather fan crap. Get Mrazek in now. Jimmy needs a rest bad and we need to see what this guy can do.

Even garbage teams like the Flames dance around this soft defense... it's just awful to watch -.-

No one is forcing you to watch are they?

Does this mean the third line is Bertuzzi - Abby - Cleary for tonight? That should be fun.

Excited to see Tatar, however, especially playing with Pavel. Lashoff deserves to be dressed after his previous performances. Kindl is getting close or already there to being a case of he's never going to develop.

I think it's a good spot for Bert, he can move up if needed but at this point of his career he's a 3rd liner and 2nd unit PP guy.  As for Cleary his spot should be about 50 rows up in the press box.

#2351241 Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

Posted by puckbags on 05 February 2013 - 09:41 AM

Well Parise looks good. 6M good, not 10M good of course.

PS Suter is your Brad Stuart. Weber is off to a slow start. He'll get his 40pts.

40 pts? I will willing to take all bets on that..he wouldn't get 40 pts in a 82 game season.

Tis the season for all the NHL to rejoice.  The Wings are no longer the standard bearers.  Could it be that we have a few very bad years ahead of us so that we can rebuild?  My friends, welcome to NHL mortality.

Jesus dude..we had a bad night..we beat arguably the best team in the west last night.  4-3-1.  Stinker against St. Louis on opening night and this hunk of garbage tonight. Relax
