#2318218 Hockeytown Winter Festival Presser

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 11 July 2012 - 11:57 AM

They need to role a 4 man line with the Russians and have a little tribute to Vlad. Maybe Anastasia can dress out? =)

Even though im not going to see these I'm still shaking thinking about all of the detroit alum together again on the ice.

#2317342 How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Red Wing arrogance and ignorance.

That has you name all over it.

#2316697 Def trade on the horizon

Can we get some people on record calling Cleary dead weight, so when he bounces back and has another 20 goal year, you can all eat crow? The guy is a warrior who gives it his all night in and night out and was still one of our best forwards come playoff time DESPITE playing on knees that were basically held together by twine and bubble gum... He had successful surgery and will come back with a bang this year, mark my words, and you can even bookmark this post.

Not that I don't agree with you but I changed my sig =) hehe

#2315755 Wings hire Tom Renney as Assistant Coach (3-year contract)

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 05 July 2012 - 01:59 PM

hahaha wiki

Detroit Red Wings

Accepting an assistant coaching position with the Red Wings on July 5, 2012, Renney is expected to be primarily responsible for the penalty kill. He is secretly planning to orchestrate a trade between the Wings and his former club in Edmonton which would send the Red Wings Shawn Horcoff, Ales Hemsky and Ryan Whitney in exchange for Brendan Smith.

#2315560 Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 05 July 2012 - 09:11 AM

Who WOULDN'T want to be overpaid? I certainly would.

Therein lies part of my original post - are the days of the 'Detroit Discount' over with? Has Motown lost its swagger? Can Detroit continue to compete for players when they refuse to overpay them even though they know somebody will?

That was part of my original question and yet everyone keeps getting lost in Holland bashing and Parise/Suter. This is a larger concept than just those 2 free agents.

I think you missed a lot what was said. They both wanted to play in Minn....home town..playing in front of their family and friends.....Like Holland said Detroit was not their home. That's why they didn't sign with Detroit. Had nothing to do with the wings losing their shine or any of that.

Even if the Red Wings had matched Minnesota's offers to both, it probably wouldn't have mattered.

“You read today where they’re happy to be going as a pair and they’re both going home,'' Holland said. “Those are some of the things we couldn’t compete against because we’re not (their) home.''

You are talking about 2 players that took well over what they are worth. 98mil for 13 yrs??? If thats what it took would you of really wanted us to do that and handcuff our team for the future??

#2313732 Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 03 July 2012 - 02:53 PM

From twitter user @RobbVogel

A purported picture of the Wings' brass boarding the plane in Madison and heading back to Detroit. No Suter according to that -- but that's not surprising. Don't need him in Detroit to sign a document if it gets to that point, and a potential presser would wait until after the holiday.

well were they walking like pimps or like someone that just got smacked down.....I WANT TO KNOW!!!! HAHAHA

#2308050 Darren Helm signs 4 year extension

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 19 June 2012 - 12:33 PM

Got that right.

He's still pretty young. If he develops his offensive game a bit, maybe he could be another Martin St Louis instead of another Kris Draper.

Pleas not another Draper....not that I didn't love drapes but when I would watch him get a big break away and thinking wow drapes is going to skate in and score...soon as he would cross the blue line no matter even if he was the only one there he would shoot it right after passing the line...never would try and skate in and deke...use to piss me off to no end. Me and a buddy of mine call that move the draper. When we would play NHL on pc together we always would play drapes like that...hahaha..slapper from the point on breakaways. hahaha

#2306890 Message to Ken Holland...

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 12 June 2012 - 09:25 AM

Excellent point...You make a good case to wait for next year when he's unrestricted...

However...there is one scenario we haven't thought about... Nashville trading Shea Weber for multiple players at the trading deadline. It happened with Eric Lindros... hence the might Colorado Avalanche were created under Patrick Roy.

Now this I could see a team like Nashville doing.

#2306838 Red Wings Prepared to Offer Hudler Contract

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 11 June 2012 - 10:58 PM

Doan will likely retire in PHX, Semin is a glorified Hudler that will costs a lot more, Kostitsyn-LOL see Semin.

CBJ won't trade with us, Flyers have a HUGE hardon for Nash.

J,Stall will likely go to Canes'.

Perry? First I heard his name in trade talks.

Iginla, maybe but I wouldn't give up much but my guess is Flames MGMT will price him out of Detroit.

Well s*** lets all just jump off this sinking ship to the penguins. We will not get anything because our club sucks and players even hate the mention of the Detroit Red Wings. We have no chance in signing anyone. Our management sucks, our current players suck. Lids thought we sucked that's why he left. Players do not want to come to Detroit...I mean look at the city for gods sake.......

#2306585 Brad Stuart's rights traded to San Jose

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 11 June 2012 - 10:42 AM

This was gonna happen either way...so far, it is all going to plan...

1. Cap went up!

2. Lids hung them up! (ya this was a bit to swallow, but geesh, folks on here (including me) were saying not too long ago that LIds either needs to take $2.0M or retire. So there ya go, he retired)

3. Stuart left.

...now we will see if the plan keeps going or if it has to change drastically. Bottom line, if Holland does indeed throw the wallet at Suter/Parise and he doesn't get them, its because they didn't want to be here and I think that is the ONLY way they aren't in Wings jersey's next season. I son't think their current clubs can out bid Detroit...Jersey for it's financial woes and Nashville because of Rinne's dumb ass contract and Weber needing to be signed...Speaking of Nashville, would anyone want Tootoo here for that 4th line hitter/grinder? Just curious...

Much as I hated him a few years ago it seems he has changed his game up a bit but is still a good hitteer/grinder. I think I would be just fine with him on the 4th.
