    Penguins on Versus..

Wings and Pens both have played 9 games on Versus this season, i.e. "all the time" this season too. Did anyone bother to check the schedule before making one sided suggestions? No, let's just whine about the Pens cuz it's cool to do.

    Penguins on Versus..

I wish they carried more games on VS personally. Hockey is hockey. Especially when I get to watch an incredible player like Stamkos.

    Little Thing Ive noticed

Okay while I was watching the Griffs game tonight I was talking to some of the guys and I really noticed something and I was wondering if any fight haters noticed too. Having an enforcer does really make the team play with more balls. Think about while May was playing. We had guys like Meech and CLeary fighting and we were just playing like we had overall a bigger pair of balls while May was in the lineup. So I just wanted to say it does seem to me an enforcer does have an effect on the team more so then most ppl here on LGW care to admit. And no I'm not flame-baiting haha I'm just saying something I've noticed lately.

    Little Thing Ive noticed

Honestly, I've noticed this season outside of Crosby on Zetterberg and a few Abdelkader incidents where he bitched out, teams arent acting tough against us anymore. Normally there'd be scrums and teams punching our stars in the face after whistles all the time, but this year not so much. I think having Bertuzzi, Ericsson, and to some extent Lilja has had a bit of an impact. I'm all about enforcers, and I'd take the 97 team over this year or last years anyday of the friggin week, but IMO the need for an enforcer hasnt been there as much this year. But to your point UK, of course having May in the line-up gave us more balls, just like Downey did, that isnt up for debate, that is fact.

why do people respond with just "this." in some posts when they're quoting people?? it's starting to annoy the hell out of me... you're not saying anything of value in your post! at least add something else... like a small "somewhat insightful" sentence or fragment... (that's not "THIS") Thanks!

    Penguins on Versus..

This x 100 Like them or hate them, the Penguins bring ratings, and when you are a TV network trying to get ratings, why not show the team that is most likely to get you high ratings. The Penguins/Wings game last Monday was the highest rated regular season game in the history of Versus, it's not that complicated. It's the same reason why Washington is always on NHL Network and the Leafs have the national game on CBC HNIC every Saturday, TV is about ratings, and popular teams bring in ratings. As far as marketing goes, I agree that the league should do a better job of showcasing talented players like Stamkos, Parise, the Sedins, etc. but why should they place less focus on the stars they already know bring in the big bucks. When I heard the Penguins were on Versus tonight, my initial reaction was, "why does that not surprise me", but I cannot understand why people are so bitter about it.

It's definitely Lilja. Mojo has a j in it, and so does Lilja. Lilja's j is just silent (well, pronounced differently) because he doesn't want to intimidate mojo, but has more mojo than mojo.

Because fans don't get excited over those other things. I doubt there's some secret legion of fans that trades videos of hooks and interference penalties like there are fight fans that trade fight tapes and talk about enforcers incessantly.

You can't judge Phoenix on this year's attendance. The fans didn't know they would have a team until a couple weeks before the season started. I remember when the Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix. Winnipeg was getting less attendance than Phoenix is now. That coupled with the weak Canadian dollar and that team was doomed. The Canadian media is utilizing revisionist history when they say Winnipeg should have never moved. The attendance at Coyotes games when the team was downtown instead of the suburbs was much stronger as well, despite the arena improvement. The Phoenix metro area is SIX TIMES larger than Winnipeg, and anyone that can do math can figure out that a professional team has a better chance long term in a city of 4,300,000 than a city of 700,000, I don't care how hockey crazed Winnipeg suddenly is. I would generalize by saying that hockey has not been a failure in the South, as Dallas, San Jose, Los Angeles, and Anaheim have been strong franchises. Hockey in the Southeast HAS generally been a failure, they are so football crazed and closed minded. And it isn't just hockey, basketball teams in Charlotte, Memphis and Atlanta don't draw well either. Atlanta, Nashville and Carolina should all move to Seattle, Milwaukee, and Quebec City respectively. And the Islanders need to go too. I know its a big market, but New York does not need three teams and the Islanders haven't been relevant in twenty years. Defending Gary Bettman isn't a popular opinion usually, but the Penguins and Sabres have been in dire straights in the past ten years, and look where they are now. Bettman didn't want them moving, and the league is better for it. Perhaps Phoenix is the next turn around story. New Olympia Stadium

Where I come from thats called a glory supporter. We give a s*** about watching proper hockey. And dont go down the "winning" road either, because Id love just love to point out we had Downey, Drake and McCarty when we won the 07-08 Stanley Cup. Oh look, I did.

Totally agree...Homer is having a great season and I think he will be back. I doubt we will see Malts again..and honestly, thats a good thing. Hudler in replacement of Willy would suit me perfectly!

    The Blackhawks are Done

Ok folks. Had a chance to drive by there today and check it out. At first I was concerned I missed it, maybe its hard to see, but kept driving on just in case. Sure enough... there it was in all of its splendor. Impossible to miss. I literally nearly caused a violent pile-up because I was laughing so hard that I couldn't see. I regained control of my car and start at the painting in awe. The mural towers impressively at least eight stories high, Jonathon's nose taking up nearly half of those floors. Folks... pictures do not do this thing justice. It has to be seen in person. Like the grand canyon or the Eiffel tower, this monument is a true spectacle to behold.
