I won't be an ass about defeatism like I used to be at times, but I will suggest that some of you might enjoy watching hockey more if you had a tad more faith in the Wings.

Quadruple shift? It's a team game. It's ridiculous to quadruple shift him just so he can keep his precious little scoring streak alive. Now seriously, I will admit, he is the best scorer in the game. But he is not the best player, nor is he as great as everyone thinks. I'm a Canadian, and it SICKENS me everytime they show him scoring that goal in the Olympics this year. Crosby's stats are inflated because he only plays 5-5 or on the powerplay, and the majority of the Eastern conference teams suck. What bugs me the most is the Pittsburgh Penguins in general. The team tanked for half a dozen seasons, almost went into bankruptcy, and what does the NHL do? Here, here you go, here's Malkin, Staal, Crosby and Fleury. You deserve them for all those years of poor management and shotty GMing. The NHL should not award horrible teams with the best picks. With the salary cap now in place, any team who misses the play-offs should have an EQUAL shot at the #1 draft pick.

Why wouldn't they quadruple shift him? He is the best player in the world by far right now. The hatred for Crosby makes me laugh. He might whine but he is passionate as hell about being the best. He works at the things he needs to get better at and i'm pretty sure his resume speaks for itself. He's 23 yrs old and won everything. I'm not a huge fan of him because he is a Penguin but saying the refs help them out? cmon stop being such a baby.

Wings win 4-1 Wings: Mursak, Hudler, Kindl, Helm (because that's all that's left) Stars: Kronner breaks a stick attempting to clear. The puck goes off Flip's butt, is fanned by Bertuzzi, the breeze from which redirects the puck and sends it bouncing off Ott's skate and into the net.

The other Pens players didn't even seem interested in scoring when he wasn't on the ice. Quadruple shifting him throughout the game and then having him play the first 2:00 of OT? That's not even necessarily caring about the team anymore. If anything, that's opening up a guy for injury, but hey, if that's what they wanted to do to keep a personal achievement going. Then the refs call a too many men on the Isles in OT and why? Because a Penguins player tripped an Islanders player on the way to the bench. You can't deny that - at least in the league's eyes - it was in the league's best interest for that streak to continue. Guess with the Pens, it really is about the name on the back, not the crest on the front. But I digress, because I'm horribly off-topic. Shooting gallery between Phoenix and Los Angeles in the first period, yikes. 4-3 Phoenix after 1.

"Ott" and "ass" are both words that begin with a vowel, followed by two consonants. Coincidence?

    Retire Osgood's #30?

You know, I've debated this one internally for a while and finally decided on a way to answer it: "If Ozzie's number was raised to the rafters, would the Ozzie chant in the Joe be thunderous?" The answer to that question is my answer.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Yzerman, Lidstrom, Shanahan, Fedorov. You could argue about Vernon, Chelios, and Konstantinov being better during those years. Try again.

Well, Howard gets hung out to dry. Anyhow, three games in four nights ain't easy. Four of six will do fine, though I still think the Wings can win this one.

    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

Yay, Eva logic! Remember when Aaron Downey had 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 games with 3 minutes of ice time each night? Well, lets say he continued on those 4th line minutes that would be 20 goals and 20 assists over the course of the season yes? Well lets say we QUADRUPLED his ice time for playing on the 1st line, then we'd be looking at around....80 goals and 80 assists over a season? 160 points for Aaron Downey. That's not even including PP time! Lets give Aaron Downey some PP time. Yes? Downey would love some PP time. Lets put him on the first PP unit. Lets say that seeing as Hudler has half his goals on the PP, that would add an extra 50% to his point totals. So thats 130 goals and 130 assists for Aaron Downey. 260 points in a season?! Shame he's retired...think of what could have been...
