Hello, Been a lurker here for many years and have just now decided to start posting. This will be my first game in at least 12 years and my first one at the RBC Center. I was raised in Michigan but was moved to NC in 2001 and I didn't discover streams to watch the games until the 2007-08 season before which I didn't keep up with the wings as much unfortunately because not living in Michigan anymore and not being able to flip the channel on the tv to the game made it hard being younger and not as computer savvy. Really excited for this game as it should be pretty intense if the wings are going to fight for the number 2 seed, as well Carolina coming out firing on all cylinders if they wish to stay in the playoff race. Anyways sorry for the background Wings win 3-1 LGW

I need to give Eaves props for something. Usually he gets noticed for his speed and his work ethic on the PK but when you watch him sometimes you just think, "Man, this guy is damn smart, especially in the defensive zone." When you watch him PK sometimes it's as if he knows what the opponent is going to do before they know it themselves. All of a sudden his determination and speed kick in as he rushes to get to a spot before they can. When he gets there, he then blocks a shot, deflects a pass or steals the puck, etc. You just think to yourself, "This guy gets it. He just knows the game."

a list of things I take more seriously than mindfly: 1. A promise from a politician 2. The artistic musical styling of one Justin Bieber 3. The word of an AD in college football that there will not be a coaching change and they are committed to the current coach, after a couple sub-par seasons 4. Brett Favre's retirement announcements 5. The complaints of a woman wearing a low cut, 2 sizes too small shirt, that guys always stare at her boobs 6. The weather report I could go on...

I don't remember The Hawks being IN the 08 playoffs. It was Nashville, COLORADO, and Dallas, who did a whole lot of heavy lifting that year. ( Anaheim, San Jose ) 09 was Columbus, Anaheim, Chitcacgo. This may help clear it up a little. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xtW8nmxit8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I would love detroit to put these hawks out of the playoffs it would serve them right for choosing to raise the banner against us. that was a bold move and I hope the wings remember that.

I would find it hilarious, I really want dallas to face vancouver, it would be an absolute meat grinder of a series with tons of injuries, get at least one of the sedins out of the way, maybe a defenseman like salo, a team like dallas will batter any team they play in a playoff series and it will only be vancouver at this point imo, why not, let them batter the s*** out of them and weaken them for round 2

Hawks lose in OT and Dallas pulls a win. Things are getting very interesting!

    This years black aces

Hoping Mursak can be this year's 08/09 Helm. Hopefully we won't need any callups, but I do love Mursak's speed.

    Lines combos in the play-offs

Abby has 5 points in 21 playoff games- not bad for a fourth liner. Also, Abby has scored this season when put with skilled players. He was hot with Cleary and Modano, and he is now hot with Bert and Franzen. Abby has what the team lacks- physical play. Your example of top pairing not being used against Abby/Franzen/Bert is evidence for the line to stay together. If they will play against the third pairing d, than the line should definitely be successful.

    This years black aces

Tardif should be up, but I don't think he'll play (or should). He's been great (and patient) with the organization and should be a black ace to practice with the team and enjoy the atmosphere. This organization treats its players well, and Tardif has paid his dues.

    Playoff Standings Prediction thread

At this point, I don't care. I don't want to play Nashville AT. ALL! But like LeBrun said the other day on ESPN, "...as Chicago found out, no one wants to play Detroit when they are angry and right now, they are playing angry and have a chip on their shoulder." I think the Chicago game was a turning point. I tihnk at this point, we dispose of Anaheim in the first round and then after that, there is no telling who we get. I was thinking about this last night to be honest. Besides winning, that's my favorite part.

To be honest, give me the Hawks for all the opposite reasons everyone else is posting in here. I hate hearing Wings fans sound scared

    Lidstrom's Chances at Another Norris

First off: I think in a year like this where there is no stand out candidate it becomes an award given on "outside merit". For example, sometimes awards are given as more of a life time achievement than on the true merits of the award. Sometimes they are given to right past wrongs. I think this year Lids gets it because he is one of the best in the game still, and this would cement his name in the record books with Doug Harvey. Could be his last year (I personally don't think so), give it to him he deserves it, and to tell you the truth, who is the better defenseman in the league right now? Yandle or Visnovsky? Would you say either of those guys is decidedly better than lids? Chara? doubt it, he is not getting any votes out of the Mon area.

At this time, I'd like to wish Garth Snow all the best in the playoffs; whenever that may be and with whatever team.

    Babcock healthy-scratch decisions

Maybe Babcock hates players whose last names start with "M".

    Babcock healthy-scratch decisions

Babs never cared much for personal benefit or individual milestones. I remember reading that the team had to really coax him into letting Ozzie play at home so he could possibly reach whatever milestone he hit recently in front of a home crowd. He's 100% about what's best for the team and I don't think personal stories factor even the slightest into who's dressed or not.

Forward: (just an absolute beast and plays magnificent at both ends of the ice) Defense: (Has no problems sacrificing the body, we severly lack that on the PK and in general) Goalie: (Known as one of the best savers of all-time. Way more consistent than Howard)

Great choice. Not so sure about Emery though.
