I hate it. I realize the majority think he's done a bad job but I think this "tradition" hurts the cup presentation. It might be unpopular opinion but it just seems a little immature to me.

Why commit to a backup who may not even play the full year, let alone put out a consistent performance for the team?

Ok so it wasn't the Wings, but we got treated to some fantastic goaltending by Tim Thomas. As a hockey fan, it was a joy watching him in the finals. As a Michigan native, also from the Flint area, I can't help but have a special appreciation for this guy. And he'll cap it off next week with a well deserved Vezina.

I'd take Draper back as the 13th/14th forward, that way he won't take away time from the younger players and he'd be a perfect replacement for any injured player.

Draper, Osgood possibly this year. Lidstrom hopefully not now, Holmstrom next year. All of the guys that have made this franchise what it is for two decades now are starting to go away. Not even bringing hockey into the equation, it is sad to see guys that have been a staple of this organization moving on. It's all speculative still, but I just hope they ALL receive the proper appreciation when the time comes. Some of the short-sighted comments already are pathetic.

Love them both, great players and have meant alot to this franchise. But it is time to move on. Good on ya Kenny.

Where did this guy come from? Totally off the radar until a few years ago. As dominate as Roy and Hasek were in their day. Let's hope he can put a few more years in and collect some more hardware.

It was pretty hilarious and I got a kick out of it like probably most others in here. Unfortunately, his #1 job isn't supposed to cater to the fans directly. He basically has to keep the owners happy. They're happy first, he stays in a job. Catering to the fans obviously comes within the territory of making sure the owners are happy in some way/shape/form, but he reports to the owners. I don't necessarily like it either, but they've liked the job he has done which is most important to his security, so I don't hear ramblings that he is leaving anytime soon.

Amen to that!! Given Detroit's history, it always amazes me that nothing like this happens after a championship win or loss. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember any riots going on when the Redwings won or lost a championship series, or the Tigers in 06, or Pistons. After last night's display, I had a hard time feeling any sympathy for the Vancouver fans. I know it's not fair, but seeing people getting roughed up for trying to protect their private property made me sick. It makes me hope the Canucks never get anywhere near another Stanley Cup final. It's this sort of thing that gives the league a bad name. Check out some of the comments on ESPN and see what some are saying. Many seem to believe the league approves such behavior. I know it's ESPN, but still...

The answer to this question is always no. The Wings need to get younger, not older. I don't give a flying doo-dad what he did when where or why.

I think blueadams should be an assistant coach and I also think Eva should be one. Think about it. Lots of useless line combos matching up against our opponents. Plus Jiri Hudler getting 40 minutes of ice time en route to achieving his 80 points.

These countries include East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, and Yugoslavia. So, the other poster was correct that the Wings have drafted players from the former Soviet Bloc states. If you're talking about independent nations that were once a part of the USSR, those are Former Soviet Republics or Post-Soviet States. /homework graded
