Howard having as good of regular season as this past years playoffs. Filpulla putting up 65 points. Hudler having a good regular season and then walking away as a UFA next offseason. I guess that last one is more of a prediction.

Lidstrom is, at worst the 2nd best defenceman of all time. Yzerman may mean more to Wings fans for lots of reasons, but no way is he a better player

Mark Messier is overrated. He has two Hart trophies to his name, neither of which should have gone to him. People act like his leadership is generational because he said his team would win, and then he came out and scored a couple of goals. People act like the 1994 Cup doesn't happen without "The Guarantee" and that Messier was the most important player, when in reality he was at best the third-most important player. His ego destroyed a locker room in Vancouver, yet most people don't bother bringing that up when talking about him. Harvey was a great defenseman. One of the best ever. But still not as good as Nick.

If the Wings can get away with trading one of Flip or Hudler for Semin, and not give up any top prospects or first round picks, then that's something to be considered. The Wings have several forwards who are as good or better defensively than Flip, and he is not among the team's best PKers. Flip for Semin as the only roster players doesn't harm Detroit's PK, but improves the PP. Maybe the lines could work out like this: Semin/Datsyuk/Bertuzzi Hudler/Zetterberg/Franzen Cleary/Helm/Eaves Mursak/Abdelkader/Holmstrom If it's Hudler instead of Filppula, maybe it works out like this: Semin/Datsyuk/Cleary Franzen/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Abdelkader/Filppula/Bertuzzi Mursak/Helm/Eaves

I think the general consensus was less "go boston" and more "f*** vancouver, I hope they burn in hell". We just picked boston because most of us dislike the canucks more than we dislike the bruins.

Getting tired of everyone saying the Wings are soo great at taking lazy players and making them great. Why haven't we done that with Hudler? Why couldn't we do that with Leino, Lang, Williams, etc? People see his moves on youtube and automatically assume he'd be some magical fit with Datsyuk. The guy has been benched nearly half his career, doesn't that tell you something? He is the polar opposite player type that the Wings look for and find success with.

My comment was more that it would be scary if he were an RFA next summer, because it means he could suddenly explode and cost them team a lot of money it didn't have. He's signed for three more seasons at $533,333. Then he is an RFA. He's got top-six potential. As a waiver pickup, that's GOLD.
