I know! Sheesh! I remember an Av's fan in here one year saying Sakic had more class than Yzerman because he handed the Cup to Bourque first and Yzerman (or anyone else) has ever done something that classy. (I guess Lidstrom handing off to Drake doesn't count either...) When I mentioned that Yzerman handed the Cup to the Illitch Family in 1997, Konstantinov in a wheel chair in 1998 and Scotty in 2002, he still argued with me... oh well! Go Pav! Go Wings!

...but...but...the Wings don't have any class. That's what I hear from other teams fans.... anyhow, great, GREAT move by Pav and shows his super huge heart! I am interested to see the patches. I still think it would be super cool if the NHL put a small sticker of their logo on the back of ALL helmets this year. There were so many former NHL players and a few who hadn't yet had the chance to come over. I wish Illitch would paint Salei's and McCrimmon's name in the ice for the season as well. Over the top? I don't think so... I just know (hope) that there will be a moment of silence in the home opener vs. Ottawa for those two and their teammates. I can hear Bud Lynch now: "And now fans, would you please remove your hats and join the Red Wings in a moment of silence for our fallen teammates, Brad McCrimmon and Ruslan Salei, may they and their teammates rest in peace......" Dim the lights, spot light on their names in the ice and cue up the pictures of them on the jumbo-tron.......silence..... "Thank you and now will you remain standing and welcome the Red Wings own, Karen Newman, for the Canadian and U.S. Natioanl Athem's...." (they may even mention Demitra since he was an Ottawa Senator for a bit...that would be cool and classy...)

I hope Kindl is 85ft wide or he'll have a tough time covering for the big pylon.

I was looking all over the place for Pasha and then I saw him with #24, and I knew what he was doing. What a beautiful tribute to his friend. I even got a hug from him this morning! Man, Pav, you made my week!!!

Isn't Commie old enough and experienced enough so that he shouldn't need that kind of motivational tactic?
  11. 1 point
How does this help him if he's in the press box?

Kindl in front of Commodore is really disturbing. I am questioning Babcock at the moment. Seriously, I hope Commie gets that 6th spot. If not, then it was a waste....

those are def the most popular games, and the rise in ticket prices shouldn't come as too much of a shocker. if im not mistaken I believe that the wings havent been raising prices over the last 5-6 years at the same rate other teams have because of the recession. now its their time to make some money again. making money = new barn lets not forget that we have the best team in hockey, and sometimes you have to pay top dollar for the best products in any industry.

You don't like the Ericsson RFA comparison? When E was re-signed for $900k, he was arguably not worth it because he didn't prove to be worth more than a Lebda, Lilja, or Meech. Holland paid him $900k on potential because that's Holland's MO. Boogs, on the other hand, has a horrible -rating (worse than Big E) and he got that payout as a RFA (wowza!) Ericsson was projected to get upwards to $3million (according to hockey announcers) if he hit FA. Holland knew this. Boogs, on the other hand, wasn't going to hit FA (could offer sheet if a team was willing to give up draft picks), which gives up assets to acquire him. As is, right now, Ericsson's salary is 'safe' in this market. It could be argued a few 100k overpaid, but not severely. He's a trade-able asset in the worse case scenario. I do believe it won't be long and Ericsson's contract will be considered as a bargain. Maybe not a Kronwall type bargain, but a bargain none-the-less. But you have to remember, Kronwall was severely abused on LGWs for his contract as well. Where are those nay-sayers now? Ericsson's contract was a low risk signing. It's trade-able, and not a long franzen type long contract. If the cap goes down significantly in the next few years, his contract will look horrible.... but then again, so will 100s of other current NHL contracts.

Really? UFC? MMA? Cool, now he can be just like Johnnie Morton who also trained for MMA at one point in his career and he became a superstar after....oh wait.... ...nevermind

I hope Bert wins this one to be honest. He paid the $2 Million to the family and it is time to move on. I hope this one gets laughed out of court.

I love Bert. He is one of my favorite Wings simply because I can't NOT love a big bearded Canadian missing a bunch of teeth. I feel so bad for him and I agree with most of the other posters that enough is enough. His actions were obviously not good but he knows that, these lawsuits drive me insane. Bertuzzi gets so much hate from so many people but I really think his actions have been so blown out of proportion...Todd didn't break moore's neck, the dogpile did. I'm so over this incident and I really hope Bert comes out alright. Also, the fact that his parents think they deserve money as well makes them look like losers. ugh.

The fallacy with your premises is Holland didn't have that choice. So his cap hit vs Ericsson's is moot because he was a RFA, not a UFA. In fact, $2.5 might be a bit high considering his RFA status. In comparison, Ericsson re-signed for $900k when he was a RFA. So if you cut out all the fluff and BS, it's really 900k vs $2.5 million.
