Even beyond a jinx, it's a tradition. Part of the code of hockey. But I'm guessing you were doing this to bait people anyway.

They signed a 3 year contract. I'm sure they don't want to lose the revenue from the deal, as well as having to pay legal fees against the inevitable breach of contract lawsuit that would arise from Amway. I don't like the sponsorship any more than anyone else, but unfortunately this is a done deal.

The Illitch family are the best owners in all of sports. They've given the city 4 cups and 30+ years of dedication and hockey excellence. The Red Wings sponsorship agreement with Amway is wrong. The team belongs just as much to the fans as it does the ownership and corporate sponsors. The constant branding of Amway makes the sport I love seem like a infomercial. Tell the Illitch family to end their agreement with Amway and to give Hockeytown back to the fans. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tell-the-Illitch-Family-to-Drop-Presented-by-Amway/219242108138480 This is not an anti-Red Wings page. This page is for Red Wing fans who want to see the Illitch family make the right decision about their relationship with Amway. Go Wings!

    10/7 GDT:Senators 3 at Red Wings 5

I don't know what the big deal was with having numbers on the front of the helmets. Barely notice 'em, not distracting in the least. And love Jimmy's mask, dammit. Sportsnet is crucifying the Sens. Heh.

Looks like the Captain wants to shut the "too old" -crowd up quick this season. I don't mind.

    Kronwall gets the third A

Congratulations to Lil' Nik. Of course I still want to believe that he wears the 'A' as the designated Annihilator.

They are sponsored by sab miller, which is about to merge with abinbev, probably far worse of a "corporation" than amway

Most fans don't really "invest" in the team. Maybe they invest emotionally, but that's about it. Yes, fans buy tickets, they buy merchandise, etc. But that isn't investment, that's simply purchasing goods and services. If the fans actually want to invest in the team, then send your money in without expecting anything in return except for a small stake in the team. The sponsors don't invest in the either and they really have no ownership over anything. They pay money, in return they get advertising. The owners are the ones that actually paid to purchase the team. They need to run their business (i.e. the team) to make money hopefully, otherwise, that team may not last forever (Atlanta). This sponsorship deal actually helps the fans be able to watch their team play. Without such sponsorship deals, the ability for teams to operate would deteriorate.

    Kronwall gets the third A

This is why I like Miller, he knows half the guys in this scrum are ******* and he's not letting them get any free gloves to the face. esteef

    Kronwall gets the third A

The fact that he is rotating with Dats, while Z has a full time "A" leads to this, post Lidstrom: C - Zetterberg A - Datsyuk A - Kronwall

Maybe Matt can design an LGW shirt with the Amway logo with a red line through it.

One of my favorite Kronwall moments: "Did you see what he did to Dany Heatley? ... I just wish I was lined up against Kronwall." -Ryane Clowe Later on in that series... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weFx9DMiros And actually, earlier on in the year... Can't wait for the next one!

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Honestly I don't think his pk value is that high on the wings just because we have so many forwards who can do it. Helm, Eaves, Abby, Cleary, Dats, Flip, Zetterberg. And Nystrom plays the pk too. Not that I think they absolutely should pick up Nystrom, but I think there's validity to having someone who could do a lot of what Miller does but also provides some more toughness "to keep the flies off" as Babcock puts it. I think Miller was a very redundant signing when they locked up Eaves. Plus when the enforcer debate rears it's ugly head, people opposed to it always ask who is out there that Holland could've signed. This is a good example.

No thanks, Drew Miller's pk value is much more important then Nystrom useless punching talent.

    Caps, Pens schedule benefit

I know this may not be a popular post but is there some type of control on any donations for the http://loveforlokomotiv.com/ or the one the Pens/Caps are doing? We can all agree the plane crash was a tragedy but putting that aside here, we gotta think about this. In a time of world economic crisis they are asking we donate money to families of people who got to play hockey and many made a great living doing it. I can totally understand for flight attendants, pilots, trainers, medical staff, players and anyone else on the plane that didn't make a large amount of cash. But if I was to donate I for sure don't want it going to the wives of families of players that are already rich beyond what a majority of us will ever attain. So I just hope there is some type of control on the donations. Otherwise good stuff.

    EA's prediction for 2011-12

So they are admitting the stats they use to base the game off of are flawed?

    EA's prediction for 2011-12

The Penguins are slated to go very far into the playoffs every single year in the EA games, for the simple fact that their players are always horrendously overpowered in the game. For example, the Pens` #1 defenseman (Gonchar or Letang) over the last three renditions has always been rated higher than Lidstrom; Fleury is always rated at #3 or higher in goalie ratings (he's #1 this year, for no apparent reason); and Crosby is always given the ratings of a god. Crosby, this year, has higher defensive awareness than Datsyuk. I don't know where that came from. I can only assume that EA wanted to make him a god-mode forward. Whatever the case, the ratings are nonsense, and thus so is this prediction. Edit: I forgot to mention that the Wings are also habitually underrated by EA. For example, Helm had an 82 for speed for a long while last season; Lidstrom is always given a fairly weak shot, at least in comparison to the other elite scoring D-men; Holmstrom has a deflections rating of only 82; Datsyuk is only a bit above average in stick-checking; and so on. I don't know who does these ratings, but he or she loves the Penguins and dislikes the Red Wings... and rarely watches the Red Wings play, apparently.

Hudler's a natural center too. Let's put him between Franzen and Cleary or Bertuzzi and see how it works. As for the "paying for potential" part... Tim Connolly is only three years older. Connolly is a proven commodity. Will Leino be providing 5 points for every 6 games over the first three years of his contract, and also be a reliable defensive center? I somehow don't see that happening; mainly due to Leino's defensive failings. So Leino will need to score more. But if they figure him to be around 70 points... that's 5 points every 6 games, which is what Connolly scored. Granted, Connolly had his health issues and was only playing 60 games (50 points) so that means Leino is expected to stay healthy, which he hasn't had any trouble doing so far. So, it's a matter of Leino staying healthy and scoring enough points above 50 per season to offset the difference between him and Connolly; liability vs reliability. How many points is that worth in a season. 10? 20? 30? That's how you can tell whether Buffalo improved at center. I would say they didn't.
