Jurco and Tvrdon and Nyquist disagree with your last statement.

Some news and notes from the Wings' twitter feed. Nyquist is called up from GR, and it seems that now Zetterberg is missing from practice. Hopefully Z only has the day off. Also, Jimmy and Nick skated prior to the practice. https://twitter.com/#!/DetroitRedWings/status/177785366852534272 https://twitter.com/#!/DetroitRedWings/status/177787664743931907 https://twitter.com/#!/DetroitRedWings/status/177788320250736640 And finally from Ansar Khan... https://twitter.com/#!/AnsarKhanMLive/status/177788935911636993 *Update* The Red Wings have now recalled Joakim Andersson from GR, as Abdelkader is a game time decision with the flu. Carter to LA

Considering they announced it the day Carter was coming back to Columbus for the first time as a King, I think you picked the right one. First announcing that Nash requested a trade, now treating a recently traded player this way. Stay classy Columbus. Even if he was a flop there, it doesn't exactly send the best message about how you treat players.

I read "Alex" and thought the next word was going to be "Kovalev".

There's one thing I absolutely hate about our power play. More often than not we spend a minimum of thirty seconds cycling the puck. Just passing back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth waiting for the perfect opportunity to shoot. Maybe I just prefer a different style of hockey but if it were up to me I would throw the puck on the net as often as possible. At least when you shoot at the net it generates a chance to score. Not always a good chance, but a chance none the less. I at least prefer to have the chance rather than spending all two minutes just passing the puck around getting a total of two shots in what should be two minutes of free offense. Oh that and then there are just those power plays where it seems like WE are the ones down a man. But that's a whole different animal.

    Griffins/Stars Game

Glad you got to take in a game out there - I read about it. Tough loss for a group on the outside of the playoffs looking in. I don't think Nyquist is long for the AHL. He's far and away the most talented player on the ice whenever his skates hit it, and it's apparent from the second he gets out there until the second he's not.

    Biggest Agitator in the NHL

Living 30 minutes from Buffalo I see a lot of the sabres and let me tel you, if the wings played buffalo often Kaltea would be winning this poll in a land slide. We all see Ott play in the western conference but man the s*** Kaleta pulls is ridiculous. Hes also a spot picker (when he does fight he wins a lot though, its strange)

    Kronwall Destroys Voracek

I gotta say, even though I think their fans are some of the biggest douchebags of all NHL fans, I have definitely gained some respect for the Flyers. (note: some) Pretty much any other team out there would have thrown a ******* temper tantrum and been screaming about how Kronner should be booted without question.

Nyquist better be playing on the second line, cause we could sure use his scoring ability right now

    Kronwall Destroys Voracek

The Stevens-Kariya hit was nothing like a Kronwall hit. The puck was on the left wing and Kariya was at centre ice when he got levelled, but that was Stevens MO. Most of his monster hits were after the puck, or the whistle, had gone.

I’d be ditching that zoom lens shot for a 20 year wide panoramic.

    Kronwall Destroys Voracek

Why? They don't blow the whistle if a Wing goes down. That would be almost as bad as the other team trying to start a fight and stopping play. Hits separate people from the puck and typically create scoring chances, it's unfortunate if someone is incapacitated but that's the sport of hockey. We should have scored on that play.

    Playoff race thread

I would love to hear the logic in this one, what does finishing 4th, 1st or 8th have to do with getting on a roll and winning 16 games?

What do you think needs to be done to fix the PP/PK

The PK has been excellent lately. 90%+ over the past ten games.

Poor E. Can't even sit in the press box without getting dumped on.

Kind of off topic but it has some lawls, the first 5 minutes at least. The last minute is very sad... God bless that family.

All are huge threats in their own way, especially on the road... ...definitely the PP/PK... ...Helm will have a great playoff. Franzen....BETTER show up!

    Caps Have Party Problems

I am friends with God, Elvis, and bigfoot. They all say that the Capitals party hard in the old style of the word. They drink so much milk, they sometimes get heartburn.

    Carter to LA

is it just me, or do those pictures of Carter and Richards remind you of the same two douchy s***heads you see in every college bar in the country? Maybe the douchy frat guy schtick was invented in Canada.

was a 2 year deal for bertuzzi really necessary? why? what is the love affair with this guy? outside of the shootout, he's awful.

    Cleary, Bertuzzi, Hudler and Franzen

according to capgeek, we have Cleary at 2.8 through next year. I think he's done after that. Cleary is slipping back into laziness. DAN CLEARY IS LAZY AND HE SUCKS Bert has 2 more years then he's probably retired. Franzen is leading our team in goals. Rightly or wrongly, he's doing what he's paid for, for 3 and change per year until 2020. I see that Zetterberg has REALLY shown up the last couple games. Maybe put him with Helm and Miller, those guys seem to know what puckwork is about...IT JUST MIGHT BE CRAZY ENOUGH TO WORK! Where the hell is Ericsson lately? how about Kindl? hasn't done much since the start of the season. Hudler WAS 2nd in goals (dunno if he still is) but goddamn kid. USE SOME OF THAT UFC GOODNESS. ILLITCH DIDN'T PULL THAT MOB CONNECTION FOR NOTHING!

All I know is finishing 4th in the Conference will not get us a Cup!

Before they went through their rebuilding period, The Blues were elite or at the very least, very good, for a long time, challenged for the division often, were always in the playoffs, won the President's trophy, went to the conference finals, blah, blah...they just could't get over the hump in the playoffs. Some of you think the Blues came into the league in 2005. Blues fans have just been waiting for this. Blues fans are excited about their team's return to respectability...and they should be. They are playing some great hockey, and they have the best goaltending they have ever had...maybe the best goaltending duo in the last 40 years (haven't looked it up though). They are playing a great system and have a balanced attack. And they are doing it without one of their best two-way players in Alex Steen. They could win the West and/or the division. Their 7 game road trip they have coming up will play a big part in where they finish. Their last road trip was 6 games and they went 5-1 on it. The 4 vs 5 matchup is going to be a war with Nashville...so whoever finishes 4th is in for a dogfight. Winning the division is a big deal. Looking forward to the home stretch. No, they're not. They are two points better.
