Who's going to make it big if anyone?

Ya, because he won the Conn Smythe and everything...You can throw it away if Zetterberg or Datsyuk or even Osgood weren't there...along with throwing away all of Franzen's goals.

You mean like when Filppula , Kronwall, Hudler, Howard, Quincey... were all prospects

For 24/7 purposes alone, I hope this happens!

I've said it before but I'll say it again, Minnesota has some of the best prospects in the league and a lineup that, when healthy, was the top team in the league points wise. They have a very deep, very talented prospect pool. So even only a third of them live up to expectations, they are going to be a very, very good team in about 2 years. And I think it's reasonable to say that very rarely do prospects end up being complete and total busts when they are as highly touted as Minnesota's are. Mikael Granlund just signed with them and he's been called by many the best hockey player outside of the NHL. So without going too deep into that (because I could go deeper), I'll just say that Minnesota has a great future ahead of them. Their stock is rising and Detroit's is falling IMHO. Plus they have the cap space to sign big time players and they will continue to have a lot of cap space in the future when they get rid of certain contracts on their roster (i.e. Backstrom, Cullen, etc.). They will probably make the biggest offer in a monetary sense. I think they will be big players and certainly have a great chance to sign Parise. Plus I suppose it doesn't hurt that they have the hometown draw. Parise's got a hot new wife and they just bought a new house out there last summer. I'm sure he'd love to come home to her after a 3 point night.

MacIntyre - Crosby - Godard Fritz - Konopka - Parros Gillies - Haley - Orr Hordichuk - Westgarth - Ivanans Lidstrom - Erskine Brookbank - Carkner Murray - Scott Quick Emery Didn't include the salary cap numbers (oops!) but I'm pretty sure this will pass the cap.

Minnesota gets brought up among potential suitors. They will make a substantial offer. There's a good chance they land him IMO.

When you say "elite", I think of star players, as in Datsyuk or Zetterberg. Based on that, the safe answer is none.

I know its fun to imagine a team full of superstars, but can you imagine the egos in that dressing room?

20 mil what? A year? And 7 million isn't such a discount. They are perhaps leaving a few million off the table to play together and for a team with a history of winning and a group of guys who know what it takes to win. You don't get that from many other clubs.

    The truth of our decline.

Didn't you know that unless every player on the farm is comparable to Ovechkin or Stamkos then they're terrible and should immediately be waived and replaced via free agency? Wait, you knew that right? For example: Tatar isn't Datsyuk so he's worthless. In the minds of the simple that's pretty much exactly how it works on this forum. Good luck in your future endeavors, but please, don't be optimistic or else you'll be considered a self diluted homer with no real hockey sense and only a messianic faith in Ken Holland.

    The truth of our decline.

If it is so painstaking then why do you continue I click the links and post in the threads? You are right "we can't win every year." I am not sure anyone would argue this OBVIOUS point. But you can strive to improve every year, use our money to sign free agents, use players, picks to trade for players, etc to make the team better. The Wings have not done this the past 3 years and it's the cause of that some people get frusterated.

    Chances of landing Parise?

Whoa, hang on there...Edmonton? That's like saying Parise and/or Suter could wind up in the KHL next year.

    Chances of landing Parise?

I honestly don't see the connection there. Bringing Holmstrom back isn't going to prevent the Red Wings from pursuing Parise. Granted, I prefer Holmstrom retire too, but his contact will be minimal if he does return.

    Chances of landing Parise?

I don't see any available defencemen who are comparable to Suter. He has Norris Trophy-type skills at both ends of the rink. Wideman et al will never contend for that trophy. Those guys are OK but not impact players, IMO.
