Here is a decent offer for Hudler. Dear Jiri. Thank you for being a Red Wing for such a annoyingly long time. We have decided to move forward and our offer is this. Get the f*** out !

Yes! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! This Helmgasm brought to you by Kenny Holland.

In Franzen's most productive season he averaged 18:06 in ice time and scored 59 pts. In Zach Parise's most productive season he averaged 18:46 and scored 94 pts. Surely you're not suggesting that Franzen would have scored 35 more points that season if he'd had 40 more seconds of ice time per game.

Darren Helm signs 4 year extension

Oh poo on Harding...oh well $1.9M was more than I would have given him anyway. Kenny says he wants a backup without health issues, wonder who he is going to go after? Again, for you weirdo's out there, I am not calling Holland out or saying Helm isn't worth the money, just wish they could have kept it a little lower, to have more to offer the big names...thats all...I am glad he is here for the next 4 years...

Finally, some good Red Wings news. I think the series against Nashville proved how important Helm was to the team (Although, Im not saying having Helm back would have changed the outcome.. but it certainly wouldnt have hurt)

Oh Lord. I don't think I can ever look at Helm the same way again.

I get why the league is loathe to let teams fail, but they're too eager to jump in and bail out teams like Phoenix who have no hope of ever rebounding, thus dooming the NHL involvement. And then, when they finally move, the NHL will have done nothing but waste resources. Why is it so hard for American businesses to see the writing on the wall? I'd hate to see Jersey move, but reality is reality. They're not as far gone as Phoenix, but this has been a consistent problem. If there were any sort of real punishment in the NHL this wouldn't be happening more frequently. League takeover should only be a transitory situation. A two year chance to get business affairs in order should be plenty. If after two years a team has not righted the ship it should be sold or allowed to go bankrupt, even if it makes the league look bad.

I would trade for any one of the following: Roy Pominville Stafford Myers

If that's true Franzen's stats are heavily skewed in just a handful of games there's no amount of good stats that Franzen has that I would want over what Parise brings and his intangibles. I honestly can't believe you would compare the two.

Parise scored a goal every 56 mins of ice-time this year Franzen scored a goal every 47 mins of ice-time this year

Which is why Holland should sign him and let Quincey walk for the draft picks... I am telling you (not you personally) that a tandem of Smith and Schultz is going to be the Red Wings version of Suter/Weber...and guess what, they are gonna get Suter too! (then in a perfect world, Weber comes along next year!) Seriously though, Smith/Schultz will be a great tandem...Holland needs to get this kid signed...along with DeKeyser... Very VERY important to get these kids signed...

No, no it doesn't. Simply put, there was no public comment made by any member, past or present, of the Minnesota Wild organization in regards to going after Parise in free agency. That really is the only way that the league will automatically go after the team for tampering. Sure, the Devils could file tampering charges & try to convince the Commissioners office to investigate. Realistically, the only way that happens is that Parise ends up signing with the Wild straight out of the gate on July 1st. And if all the league can find is that a 72 year old former GM of a completely different club, popped off at the mouth during a radio interview, nothing will come of it. Unless they can find hard evidence that there was a distinct plan to leak info out to the public (say like in an internal email chain) through Nanne or, like in the case of the Blues tampering w/ Scott Stevens when he was an RFA years ago, the actual existence of a contract that was drawn up & discussed with Parise's agent prior to July 1st, the whole thing will go nowhere.

Cheli trying to push for Suter to sign in Chicago? I call bulls*** on that rumor given that, oh I don't know, the fact that Cheli actually works for the Wings maybe.

All the North American pro sports trophies are made of sterling silver. This means they are all relatively the same hardness.

So one would think... sadly enough 1-2 million extra on top of the crazy amounts they already get sometimes overpowers a players choice. Perfect example was in the NBA; Ben Wallace left the Pistons to go to the Bulls said he needed to provide for his family. I forget the lengh of his contract but it was something like 42 million offered by the Pistons and 48 from the Bulls. At the time the 'stones still had their key pieces and could of went back to the finals. My point is you need that extra few million to provide for your family? Really? LOL. Its like some of the players just don't care about that ultimate prize. Side note<<<<<<< BASKETBALL SUCKS

Gee Mr, Russo, seems like that is a cookie cutter headline if I ever read one! <insert team and $$$$$ under the cap here> The difference is Mr. Russo of the Star Tribune, the Red Wings are looking to get back to the Cup final and Parise will help them do that. You have no one to help Parise get to the final on the Wild... BTW, where has centcougartown been? Maybe he is getting more love for his expertise on callofthewildprospectpool.com...

What do you expect him to say? Hes not going to trash the team hes still the captain of.

Again, read through my posts, I don't disagree with you. I've said from the beginning that he should be offered a two way contract and given the opportunity to earn a spot in camp. But he absolutely should not be GUARANTEED NHL playing time without ever having played outside of the NCAA. That was what the whole debate was about from the beginning, whether or not he should be guaranteed playing time for the Red Wings as a condition for signing with the organization.

Datyuk, Zetterberg, and Franzen all played in PROFESSIONAL hockey leagues (Swedish Elite League, and Russian Superleague) in their respective countries, it's misleading to suggest that they didn't have sufficient professional development. If Schultz wants to develop in the SEL or KHL instead of the AHL I'm fine with that too. The point is, he needs to prove himself in a professional league before being given a spot on an NHL roster.
