I have believed Roberto Luongo to be the most overrated goalie for the past 5 or 6 years, but I think the media is starting to catch up.

Ken doesn't wanna part with any of his future Hall of Famers to get him, so I don't even see Bouwmeester as a possibility anymore. Sign Vandermeer and start the season, already.

I would love to see Stevie Y as commissioner just because he's a classy guy but I agree with everyone who's saying it should be a businessman because really that is the main part of the job. I don't think it needs to be an ex player or coach but I'm gonna go ahead and say the next commissioner should be a guy who actually LIKES hockey at least because from what I can tell, Gary doesn't really give a...he doesn't care.

Who do you think is the most overrated player in the league? I think Dustin Brown is overrated, still very talented obviously but the constant praise this summer might be a bit much.

I've tried to use the search-function but couldn't find anything matching. We have the boring offseason and maybe another lockout looming so I've decided to take a look at all NHL websites and I must say, I am not impressed with our one. Doesn't look that bad but save for red/white and different background-images the page is looking exactly like all the others. I mean just LGW the site is looking fantastic, clean, simple and yet very modern why can't the site of an O 6 franchise look as good? Please note, not that I am saying it should be filled with flash animations, super gfx effects just a bit more modern while resembling while also having reference to the great history of HockeyTown. Why not hire some coders and designers to create a great looking one. Mr. I should give you a call Matt :-)

No one is stating the obvious?? I guess he who shall not be named is a given, so taking that into consideration, I'll have to go with Luongo, and the Sedin sisters. Of course, most anyone wearing a Vancouver jersey could fall under that description.

Alex Semin. What Carolina paid him is insane. I also think Brad RIchards and Mike Green make my list.

Any prospects in the minors, on any team. Leafs prospects are particularly over-rated though. For 10 years or more it seems they've had a Stanley Cup winning roster in waiting on the Marlies.

Shanny. Many on here called it a couple years ago when it became clear that he was positioning himself for a league job. Bettman might have to voluntarily retire first, though.

You are correct, at least from what has been released so far. Bettman didn't mention the cap floor in his proposal. It could be in there, but lets assume he didn't mention it because its not an issue. He concentrated on rolling back salaries, limiting contracts, and getting rid of arbitration. Just further proof, as you and I have said about 10 pages ago, he doesn't recognize what the real problems are. As has been demonstrated before, spending to the cap ceiling doesn't mean you are going to win a cup or even make the playoffs. We have small market teams beating big market teams all the time. The CBA that Bettman is proposing lowers the cap floor and ceiling for a few years with the rollback in salaries, but it doesn't address the long term health of the league. In 4 years, the owners will be in the same predicament that they are in right now. Just as the players proposal, while lowering salaries a couple percent for a few years, doesn't address the long term health of the league or teams in 3-4 years. Owners are going to be boneheads, and players will sign inflated contracts as a result. IMHO, by eliminating the cap floor and imposing a luxury tax system, the small market teams will still be able to get players while the big market teams will share revenues with the small market ones. It works well in baseball, and should work well in hockey. Bettman obviously hates it, but I think Fehr would be a fan of it. Teams were icing NHL level lineups even before the salary cap era.

I have to disagree with you there buddy, I'm not willing to take on that cap hit for JBO no matter what. There are guys with big salaries worth taking a chance on (Semin) and guys were you know exactly what you're going to get. Even if Bouwmeester turned into the same guy he was in Florida (doubtful) he still isn't worth that money. Peole thought Wiz and Erhoff's contracts were bad, but at least they've each scored 50 pts. in their careers, something JBO can't say. For his production to salary ratio you might as well just burn about two million dollars because you're certainly not going to get any use out of it if you're spending on that bum. Note: Last season 44 defensemen scored more points than JBO, of those 43 had a better plus minus (only Mark Streit's was worse). Furthermore, only Brian Campbell, Chara, and Drew Doughty had a higher cap hit. That means 41 defensemen in the league scored more, cost less, and played better defense than JBO. Why would anyone want this guy for this money? Or, another way to look at it is that you're getting (at best) the 44th best defenseman in the league and paying him as if he's top five in the league (top four actually). Really bad idea.

I like the idea, but the list will not be accurate. Do you think the NHL will ever let Crosby ever get on a list like this and embarrass their favorite player? Exceptions will be made, and it won't be fair to the other players.

I remember his interview when he talks about his mothers death and everything, really sad interview and a great inside look at who pasha really is, anyways.. in that interview he stated that he doesn't want to play til he's 40 and he didn't want to finish his career in the NHL. That being said, he also says the normal I love this place and what not. I couldn't see him being moved to any other team or sporting another teams sweater, but i certainly could see him playing out his remaining "hockey years" in the motherland. Would I be upset? Absolutely, it would break my heart just like I cried like a little baby during Stevie Y's ceremony and Nicky's. Would I disown him? Absolutely not, nothing but respect.
