Fair points, but I gotta disagree with you on Ericsson being more physical. While the guy does have the size advantage, he's also a pylon and rarely makes use of it. He is a decent puckmover though. Haven't watched too much of Carlo so can't really comment on his defensive abilities but yeah, the general consensus seems to be he's a solid 5th/6thdefender when he's healthy. Also, he's got pretty good numbers.

Wow. I honestly had not even thought of the charities. The players and the league both contribute quite a bit both individually and as a group. Maybe this would be the solution: Instead of arguing 57/43 vs 50/50 or other numbers, maybe we should be going x/x/10 with the 10 going to charity. Both sides might be willing to give a little if they knew that the money wasn't going to the other side, but to a charity. It wouldn't solve the other points, but it would be a starting point. I still think that the league wants to lock out this season so the players will be more willing to give up Sochi next year just to have a season to play.

Laughing out loud I think so too. Wonder why NBC hasn't put some pressure into getting a FAIR deal done? They've paid the NHL millions of $ and yet they aren't getting anything out of it t his season.

Believe it or not points aren't all that plays into salary for defensemen. Carlo is a decent puck moving defenseman, he's nothing more than an average to below average in terms of defense, Ericsson plays a ton more in shorthanded situations, and is much more physical. Different players demand different salaries depending on the role they play. One also had much more leverage on the team, Ericsson's not a world beater by any means, but he does provide something the wings don't have much of on the back end, toughness, and size. Which the Wing's lost quite a bit with Stuart.

Now that Carrie Underwood is a hockey wife, I think it behooves her to write sad, sappy, lamenting, wailing songs about how bad this is for the players, their families, the people who are employed by hockey, and the fans. Then she needs to follow Bettman around singing them all non-stop until he cracks and signs whatever is put in front of him, preferably his own pink slip. Heck, I'll sing backup vocals. Anything to speed this along.

Any NHL'ers from your home town?

My hometown is small but we've had quite a few NHL players from here. Jon Klemm, Brad Lukowich, and Rob Niedermayer and Scott Niedermayer are some I can think of off the top of my head but I know there's more. There's a few like Stoll that lived here when they played on our WHL team too but that doesn't count. I do feel like I'm missing a big name guy here..... Oh yeah, and Steve Yzerman

Makes you wonder how a guy like Ericsson who's averaged about the same amount of games played as Colaiacovo the last few seasons but with less than half the points, can command almost a million dollars more a year in salary. Just don't get it...

If Doan retires during the term of the contract, his cap hit still counts against the Coyotes. Good way to help keep them above the floor. Here's the best part of this: The Coyotes are owned and operated by the NHL. They haven't been sold yet. So, the league, which is about to lock out the players, just overpaid a guy with a contract that *could* be used to help circumvent the salary floor AND they gave him a $2M signing bonus, which is guaranteed money, lockout or not. This league is effed. It needs to go away. I'm sick of Bettman and the two-faced owners and GMs. Time for someone to start up a rival league, do it right with reasonable contracts, reasonable ticket prices, teams in solid hockey markets only, fewer teams (20 sounds good), a shorter season...

Not to mention a consumate professional, ultra hard worker, fourth liner who wore an "A", Selke winner, and the closest Chuck Norris look alike in the Western hemisphere. Drapes would still school Abby. Who knows what Drapes' career would look like if he had been given the opportunity his whole career that he was given during 03-04.

So looks like Doan wants to be the first player to play for 3 different cities without changing teams.

Too much in my mind, he still takes too many boneheaded penalties, his offense is easily replaced by others with a lower cap hit, and his defense is suspect in key situations.

I don't mind this. Abdelkader is solid defensively and drops the gloves on occasion (Although he's not particularly good at it).

As the highest pick the Wings have had in years, I was hoping for even more than that from Kindl. But last season he couldn't even outplay Commie for a spot in the lineup.

This kid is slowly turning into the LGW whipping boy, but I think he's the most underrated player on the team, especially his defensive play. I'm happy to see him stick around.

He might steal the headlines yes but if there is this lockout which is more likely to happen day by day. I don't see this helping Doan's cause at all given his age.

What do you consider a fair CBA?

    1) Whatever it takes to let me start watching hockey on October 11th. 2) The End.
