Niedermayer's playoff beard alone deserves it's place in the HHoF... Great to see Shanny and Cheli get in too. Very deserving class this year.

That was really too funny, a team with a guy like MacIntyre refuses to play him against one of the toughest teams in the league. I'd bet the Bruins would have played their cleanest game if the Pens dressed him, he is that kind of a no nonsense presence.

Why is everyone so sure Sammy isn't legitimately hurt? This is the same guy who was hurt for 98% of last season; is it so hard to believe he may still be injured? I know it was reported he was ready to go near the end of our playoff run, but many guys play hurt at that time of year. There's also the possibility that he may have re-aggravated his injury somewhere along the line. Not trying to defend the guy, I want him off this roster as much as anyone, but to go as far as say we should send him down to Toledo is ridiculous. Also, how many of us wouldn't try pulling the same stunt if he isn't indeed still injured? He claims injury, and gets his full $3M, or he gets bought out and gets $2M... and before anyone says $2M plus the chance at another contract with another team, keep in mind, GMs likely aren’t lining up to sign a guy who missed all but 9 games (including playoffs) last year.

Clarkson? The guy who is a bad skater, a mediocre passer, undisciplined, poor at defense, terrible at blocking shots, and generally possessed of an indifferent hockey mind would have made this team a Cup contender? I can't help but think that you simply looked under 2011-2012, saw "30 goals," and assumed that he was a premiere power forward. Devils fans would laugh at that description. I've been on HF all day, and I haven't seen a single one who believes that he was worth anywhere near the contract he got.

Yeah, remember that Dallas Drake guy? He was a terrible addition! Because he made some trades as part of a franchise that has been a bottom feeder for years now? The Stars have not made the playoffs since 2008. They are in a situation vastly different from the Wings. Major trades are far more appropriate there. Heh, this nonsense about Clarkson's size again. Clarkson is of precisely average NHL size, and is mediocre at everything beyond offense---and he's not even that great at offense, generally doing not very much of the work in the offensive zone. Horton is larger, but not by much, and he has had substantial issues with consistency and health over the past several seasons. The price for Vanek will be high. He will not be worth that for one season. No, what Nill has is a down-in-the-dumps franchise that is in need of major changes.
