Seems like they covered the leafs players a bit more, got a lot more of them goofing around, playing ping pong, and so on. I was really looking forward to seeing pasha in this series, but i don't think he even said a word really, he must have a very good hiding spot. Apparently wings players are very dull and never goof around, the coaches stood out more then the players or games in most episodes, and the only wing they really covered was alfie. Overall 3/10, very poorly done, I expected much better from HBO, they screwed the pooch on this one. When I find myself bored and contemplating shutting off the tv, about 20 minutes into an hour long episode that involves the red wings, something is very wrong. 3rd episode was the best, other 3 episodes sucked. no alumni game coverage, no real hook, or draw in the show, I may as well have watched the kardashians

For me, there's nothing sexy about missing the playoffs and getting a 2nd round pick from Boston for Alfie. That's essentially 50th overall or something. I'd hope that if Quincey was worth a first even in Holland's demented state, and Gaustad is worth a first, that we could squeeze a first round pick out of some GM if we could work up a bidding war frenzy.

I love how everyone comes in here and berates the OP by saying things like, it'll never happen, get real, he has a NMC, and everything else they can sling at him to attempt to belittle or make fun of him. All while the thread is IF we become sellers, hypothetically if the Wings miss the playoffs, what kind of return would you expect for Alfie. This. I have no desire to see women in bikinis, but eventually they'll get cold and put something on. The drunken idiot can't be ignored and gets worse as the game goes on. That said, wearing bikinis to a hockey game is really stupid unless you're having a hot flash.

I think Hudler not being selected is the real story here. A 42 yr old Petr Nedved was selected over him. lol Hell even Vrbata didn't make it.

The thing that sucks the most is we only have a few more years of Dats & Z. Maybe 5 at most. We need to win at least one more Cup in that time. I know doom and gloom has been predicted for this franchise for years, but who knows if we've got/will get anybody to step in to these huge holes that will be left.

I still think most of Smith's issue are with who he is paired with. Pair him with Dekeyser and you will see a different player. Quincey is too offensive minded to play with Smith, hell Lashoff would be a better pairing for Smith. EDIT: Quincey smith over two complete wastes of roster space.

My biggest thought is, it could have been much worse we are lucky to be in the position we are in.

I didn't make any really specific predictions. Well, ok - I thought we'd be better. Much better. Actually, I predicted we'd face the Kings in the SCF. So much trouble in our own end. Many nights, you'd think half our team had never had to play in the d-zone prior to this season. We have this strange compulsion to be fancy and complex and make nine passes, or try to carry the puck from behind the net and around nine forecheckers just to gain the n-zone. What happened to smooth, simple, safe, set outlet plays? What happened to crisp, concise first passes? Where'd all that go? Rhetorical questions, I suppose. Lidstrom and Rafalski are gone and our D is young and jumpy and injury prone. And we have Kyle Quincey. Add to that the injury woes, the scoring woes, the Jimmy Howard woes, the shootout woes, the two-goal lead woes, the two-goal deficit woes, the taking-too-many-stupid penalties woes, the lineup woes (see: Cleary, Dan/Daniel/Danny/Dammit), the we-don't-do-well-with-cameras woes, the we-don't-do-well-with-NBC-broadcasts woes, and, of course, the we-hate-playing-in-our-own-barn woes, and I think it's safe to say that this first half has left a lot to be desired. The really frustrating thing about it all is that we're a great team when we want to be. Actually, the really frustrating thing is how many points we've left on the table with our TEN shootout losses. If we were merely bad in the shootout, as opposed to mindblowingly godawful, we might be challenging for first in the East right now. If only we were one of those teams that gets by on skill....

I don't, but I'll use this as the discussion thread if you don't mind, and if there is a link, someone will post it. But it seems like they've cracked down on it being online. In any case, episode 4 was mildly interesting, getting a little more into the Dad's trip. I kind of feel like Babs has used this as Cleary PR to show his toughness and his leadership. He has played better of late, but still would not break my heart to see him go. In general, for me, the series was a bit of a disappointment. Just little bits and pieces and teases, but they'd never really explore any story line enough. Just not very in depth or anything different or things that we haven't seen before. I'm not offended at all by salty language, I'm quite adept at using the f word, but even I got sick of it this episode. Just too much. I looked so forward to this for 2 years and it was pretty much a let down. What did I expect? I don't know, just more and better, I guess.

No, but I'm going to use this thread for discussion since there's no other thread up yet. Overall, I was very disappointed. It seems they covered the Leafs in an entirely different way than the Wings. Whether that was by choice or necessity, I don't know. No Pasha. Their coverage of the WC was dumbfounding to me. How do you film an event in a stadium the size of the Big House and not make the crowd a character? There were only a few close up crowd shots. No sweeping stadium shots, no pauses for the thunderous applause after goals were scored. I don't get it.

I don't hate Cleary. I do hate ungrateful, spiteful, keyboard warriors who are unable to appreciate the fact that the reason Cleary is so ineffective is because he has given quite literally everything his body has for this team. I refuse to hate a player who has been a part of so many great moments for this team. I refuse to hate a player who continued to play in the 2009 playoffs - all the way to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals - with a double groin tear so bad he couldn't actually walk up a flight of stairs. I refuse to hate the player who laid out Phaneuf, fought Pronger, scored the winner in game 7 against the ducks. I refuse to hate a player who took a slapshot to face and was eating through a straw for a month, who lost 20lbs of muscle that had taken a lifetime to build, and when he came back went straight to the front of the net again. So all you internet tough guys who don't have a fraction of the heart, courage and toughness that Dan Cleary has displayed in the Red + White, I suggest you all STFU and show a bit of class, dignity and gratitude.

Good god I wish I could like that more than once.
