The fact that the hit wasn't an especially hard one, I think its reasonable to draw the conclusion that there may have been an undiagnosed issue before he was clocked in the head. Hope he gets better soon, we could really use his offense.

Really strong period for the Red Wings. The Thornton line is giving them fits, but otherwise the Wings are skating hard. Is there ever a game the Sharks don't get assistance from the refs? The playoff series and all the diving they got away with still pisses me off. Looks like the penalties are going to be lopsided yet again.

I think the main thing to take from this article is the unprofessionalism displayed by USA Hockey and its officials. This type of insider information, while craved by all of us, should never be released to the public. If after the announcement, a coach, GM, or other official wants to say "this is why we took/didn't take Player X", that's fine, but it can then be a more polished statement. Also, players who have been part of the program for years--like Johnson--and were passed over deserved a call before the announcement. It's just the right thing to do.

How about just referring to players by their NAMES?

Don't be too sure. Canada and Sweden are good, but the USA is better than 2010 and we didn't look too shabby then. Russia won't even medal. Every year everyone thinks they'll place because of their forward corps, but in reality they've only got like 4 or 5 quality forwards with shaky goaltending and a horrible defense. The US team has a little less scoring than Canada or Sweden, but is faster than both, grittier than both, and as good or better defensively than both. Plus our goaltending is studly right now. Don't sleep on the Americans, lean and mean baby.

I felt let down. I didn't feel like we got to know much about our players, I wanted to hear Pasha's wisdom, and I agree with the other posters- too much shots of them skating in slow mo... we have enough slow mo skating from Bertuzzi and Cleary.
