Lines are considering the more likely event that Datsyuk does not return tonight, Friday sounds like a realistic expectation for his return. He has not been ruled out of tonight's game though, i'd be thrilled to have Pav back in the midst of our recent great play. Starting goaltenders are unconfirmed, but very likely. This will be a difficult game, I think we edge the Bruins 5-4 in OT. Glendening scores his first (this prediction is bound to come true, right?), Nyquist with a goal and a helper, Kronwall with a couple and Franzen with the GWG. Lets go boys, the more we win now the better our chances continue to be to make it 23 years straight. GO WINGS GO!!!

Good lord. Maybe the ref had...you know...like razor blades tucked in his knuckles? I mean you never know, we don't know his struggles. Coming up from the wrong side of the tracks and whatnot. He had to learn how to take care of himself, no one else was going to. What with his dad leaving when he was four and his mom working three jobs just to make ends meet. He had to make a name for himself on the streets, so no one would mess with his mute brother Clarence. "Razor Fists" they would call him. Now he lies awake at night, wondering how things could have been different. Or, you know, Crysby is a poopy diaper diving baby.

TOR won but ''lumbus lost in OT. Washington lost. Even if the Devils win in OT they still don't have enough points to catch us or the BJs. So they all stay behind us in the standings. We need another win tomorrow, and then we need the Bruins to rebound from their loss against us with a win against Toronto on Thursday.

    Ovechkin and ES

But that's not what you said. You called him a complimentary player...and he's not. I'd agree that there are better players in the league, or guys that are better leaders or whatever. But to say he's a complimentary player is silly. He had four 100 points seasons while being the primary offensive threat on his team. You're saying he's not "the guy" because he doesn't play defense...and he doesn't, I agree. But lots of guys don't play defense yet still get credit for being first rate players. Certainly nobody would call Kessel, Vanek, Kane, etc. complimentary players. But for whatever reason it's popular these days to downplay just how good Ovechkin is...even if he could be better.

When we return Hank and Pav, we will add our two best to a team that has been playing great and young guys who have stepped up their game. Our players will no longer be waiting on Hank or Pav to score all game long. Nyquist might be one of the next greats for Detroit and hope that he continues his play when they come back. Alfy, Nyquist, Hank, Pav, Helm, Franzen all healthy??? Who wants to draw them in the 1st round of the playoffs? Crickets...

    4/2 GDT - Bruins 2 at Red Wings 3

We play strong against the good teams, we're healthier. I think we can keep their scoring down, its just a matter of if our offense shows up other than Nyquist. I'm not as worries as others. Boston doesnt dominate us and we took care if Pittsburgh the other week. They're just a team and they're due for a loss.

Here's to hoping that the Bruins play down to their competition and Wings win. It's worked for the Wings when they were on top. GO WINGS!

% chance of making the playoffs

The Buffalo and Carolina games are my concern. Losing either of those could be catastrophic. You'd have to think those teams would love the chance to contribute to ending the streak. Wings gotta be on their toes and play complete games.

Unless we pull a Toronto I don't see us not making the playoffs

% chance of making the playoffs

Sportsclubstats numbers are odd at times. According to the site the Leafs enter tomorrow nights game vs Calgary with a 4.6% chance to make the playoffs. Should the lose in regulation those odds drop by 3.6% leaving them a 1% chance. Should Columbus also win that would drop the Leafs chances by 1% leaving them at 0 despite not being officially eliminated. Even worse, should Washington win their game tomorrow the Leafs odds drop another .5% leaving them with negative odds to make the dance, with a Philadelphia win dropping them further by .1 %. So if things go perfectly against them they will have a -.6% chance of making the playoffs despite being only 4 pts back with 5 games to play. I don't disagree that the Leafs odds are ridiculously long but those numbers seem out of whack.

    Avery vs. Brodeur

Au contraire , mon ami: I've got Jen Murphy, known across our hockey league as The Jenerator. As a defensive pairing, our goalie once informed us that we'd gone 11 games in a row without getting scored upon. Murph is a Class IV white water kayaker. An excellent mountain biker. Restored her own 63 Volvo. Dabbles in triathlons. Is too smart to ever go out with Avery or Phanuef. And most relevantly, is a huge Red Wing fan. Cuthbert would be fun for a long weekend, but as far as a lifetime goes, I've got the trump card.
