And Sean Avery -
3 pointsWow, thanks for asking.I'm doing great. I can still hold my kids, play with them in the pool, and zipline with them at Whistler. My parents and my brothers family joined us for a week in San Diego, then all flew to our home in Washington. We just took them to Whistler where we all, including my 75 yr old mumsy, did the longest tallest zip line in North America . (The kids did the bobsled run too, along with my wife) My 13 yr old niece is putting together a little vacation vid, check it out (the older kids are my nephew and nieces, young one is Olivia , Lilja seemed to be sleeping a lot) http://youtu.be/kYuR1bdtTuI AND my life long friend from growing up in Michigan did an awesome Ice Bucket Challenge vid (he's Air Force) :

A few things: Who's to say Jurco isn't the next coming (whatever that means exactly)? Who's to say Jurco's not more special than Tatar or Nyquist and that ultimately he won't outshine one or both of them? Tatar played in 73 games last season and put up 39 points. Jurco - who's two years Tatar's junior (21 and 23, respectively) - did put up only 15 points last season, but he only played in 36 games. Had he played in 73 games, he likely would've been good for about 30 points, not far off from Tatar's 39. Does a player have to be The Next Coming to play in our top nine? A key reason why Tatar and Nyquist were held down so long: they're smallish skill players. Jurco has the makings of a top-six power forward. Just saying. If we opened the season with Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco as our third line, I doubt many people would be saying, "Clearly Jurco needs more time on the farm." Instead, I think we say what we said about that line last season: "This line is the s***!" -

Las Vegas rumored to get an expansion team
wings4thecup06 reacted to Hockeytown0001 for a post in a topic
Atlanta has 200k hockey fans and yet managed to sell barely 50% of Thrashers ticket during their last years. What makes the NHL think Vegas will have a better result wit a lower percentage of hockey fans? -

Expansion draft - how many players can each team protect ?
Ally reacted to RyanBarnes! for a post in a topic
I think Howard would be exactly what any expansion team is looking for. He is a very reliable veteran goalie. -
1 pointI agree with you 100% number9, I've been saying this for months. There is no way that Jurco starts the season with the Wings, it's simply not the way the Red Wings do things. Some of you obviously don't agree with this but I truly believe this "over-ripening" method works and will continue to work. I think the Red Wings have unbelievable scouts but I think it's more than that, I think it's more to do with the way they develop their players. No player is ever given a roster spot, every spot, every game and every shift has to be earned. Jurco will be our first call up which is great and Pulkkinen and Mantha will be our 2nd and 3rd callups if need be, which shows great depth up front. I however do believe that Jurco is the "next coming", but unlike so many others on here, I don't think he's quite ready yet and I'm completely fine with waiting another half to full season to see him called up again. Some people will probably laugh at this but I think Jurco has more potential than any one of our forward prospects, including Nyquist, Tatar, Pulkkinen and even Mantha. I strongly believe that this kid is the real deal and he will show that in the next couple years. Think that was funny? Well here's something even more humorous to some of you I'm sure, I think he has the potential to have as much of an impact on this organization as Datsyuk and Zetterberg have had over their careers... Call me crazy...

1 pointAgain, I'll have to apologize to you. Even if he is the next great wing, already ready, at the mere age of 21, he's not going to be on the starting roster. Have you been absent the last 10 years? Jurco isn't starting here in Detroit, and that's just me regurgitating wings rhetoric, not an opinion. PWF or not, he's in GR. That has nothing to do with it. Early career sucsuess has nothing to do with it either, in GR. If you wanna make a bet that he'll be on our opening day roster, I'd gladly take it.

1 pointAs long as there isn't a Seattle Wookiees. Everyone letting them win would be too dull, but the alternative would be everyone having their arms pulled out of their sockets. The Wings have enough injuries as it is- a back out over there, a concussion over here, a face off in the corner... Ok, so wouldn't the back and sleeves be blank, or is having an 8 on one arm of jersey #77 part of hiding their numbers?

1 pointSo Callahan Ferraro and Glendening don't get a chance? I'm unsure about Ferraro, but I really like Glendening, and I've LOVED Callahan thus far. You don't even want to give them 10 games to see what they've got? Jurco will be #1 call up, it's not like he's not going to play. It's not the easy way out, it's the logical way to handle a business. Jurco scored 15 pts in his first stint, I liked him a lot, but he's far from the next coming. Tatar has been playing for this organization since 09. Nyquist since 2010. Jurco started in GR in 2012. He has more time to do. He is not more special than Tatar or Nyquist. If Ferraro, Callahan, Andersson, and Glendening are all bums this year, by all means call him up. But's probably going to come when injuries hit. Sorry.
-
1 pointJurco just won't be on the starting roster. He just won't. He looked good, but he's played less than half of an NHL season and is the only forward with minor league options. Holland will be starting him in GR. 2 of Andersson, Ferraro, Callahan, Cleary and Glendening won't be on the starting roster either, and will have to clear waivers unlike Jurco. If both Jurco and Cleary made the starting roster for some reason, we could potentially lose Ferraro, Callahan, and Glendening for nothing. It's silly to think Jurco is anything more than the #1 call up right now. He's going to have to do his time in GR just like Tatar and Nyquist did. It's a philosophy thing, but also very much a business/practicality thing.

Fortunately I didn't have to look at him from below the wing. He was riding in style in 1st class though! In all seriousness, it would be great to have him return to a better form. I do wish for nothing but the best for all of our players...yes, even Franzen. But if there wasn't someone to complain about how fun would debates be? BTW, in my 25 years at Metro, and meeting hundreds and hundreds of players (NHL, NBA and NFL)(especially in the early to mid 90's when only two NHL teams had planes and the rest all flew Northwest (#screw Delta)) the ONLY player I wanted an autograph from (and got) was #24 Bob Probert! Oh, and Rowdy Roddy Piper! -
