I agree. It's amazing how low most all Red Wings fans are on DeKeyser. Some even go as far as to say they'd eat half his salary for a 7th round draft pick. I would trade DeKeyser, but it would have to be worth it. DD isn't near as bad as fans make it seem, and on a better team, I think he's a legit top 3/4 defenseman. And like you said, he's getting paid as such.

I dont trade DD. He's paid quite comparably to other top 4 D-men, and with a good coach I think he will play at that level. We need top 4 D-men, I'd rather not trade any away unless its for a better top 4 D-man.

I wouldn't worry about the list being short. The teams that Green would be willing to go to are the same ones that will be bidding on him. I don't see a wild card type team going after him, and those teams are who he might say no to. I agree, sorta. Green certainly falls closer to Shatt then Smith in terms of value to other teams. I see a first and a so-so prospect, or a 2nd and a good prospect, or a high end prospect and lower draft pick coming back. I've been more supportive of Holland than most, and even I don't see him getting a 1st and a stud back.

They do, if they wave them or give them a list of teams they won't go to. They matter because they can pretty much control where they go, but every year someone with a NTC gets traded,,,lets use Mike Green for example, bet you he gets traded...and he has a FULL NTC...

Good answer. A rebuilding team has to take risks. And if he still flops, the team can find another Howard type. They’re all over the league. That’s what I never understood about hanging onto Howard like he’s a franchise goalie or something. That he has to be held onto, because he’s not around to pick up the slack if Mrazek proves he’s absolutely not the answer, we’re screwed. Far from it.

I think if you made Petr our clear cut #1 by dealing Howard then we could really see what hes capable of. Risky but Id definitely be willing to see

I would prefer to trade Howard and keep Mrazek going forward, like you said there is no tanking in Detroit. Also as others have pointed out tanking doesn't necessarily equal a successful rebuild either. Id prefer to keep the core we plan to use and garner as many picks as possible over the next couple seasons, as said by many other then the first couple picks its a crap shoot so we might as well get as many as possible increasing the odds of someone working out.
