Unless he has made some major strides over the summer, AA is not suited for a 2nd line C role, particularly not with a rookie and a defensive liability for wingers. He'd be fine for a depth center role though, where he could be sheltered. But most likely Larkin, Nielsen, Helm, Glendening will be the centers if Z is done. We can do three scoring lines: AA-Larkin-Mantha Zadina-Nielsen-Nyquist Ras-Helm-Vanek Abby-Glen-Bert AA is probably better at this point than Bert, and Helm is a better center than AA. Probably even better to swap AA and Ras, but I think Ras should be eased in a bit. Four scoring lines would be even better but without Z I don't think we can pull it off.

Yeah, I could see Helm being slotted in as our 3C IF Zetterberg isn't able to go, but I wouldn't mind seeing Athanasiou be given an opportunity either. I hope Turgeon makes Glendening expendable over the next season or so. I'm not really sold on either of Holmstrom or Ehn in that role.

Most of the reports I've heard have Rasmussen penciled in on the 3rd line left wing. There's no reason we can't have three decent "scoring" lines.

Well I haven't missed a Red Wings game in about 10 years, so that's a given, but I have a feeling I'll be watching those guys in Grand Rapids for the first month or so. All four should be full time starting next season though, which is pretty exciting. We're going to be a much younger / better team in year or two.

Hell, I'll take a 48 year old Lidström over any of our current D.

I think Nielsen is a capable 2C. He kind of got screwed with his role on this team being used as a shut down player. With PP time and better line mates he’ll bounce back to his 50 point form. Move Helm back to center and maybe these overpaid guys can bounce back and become tradeable. Bertuzzi-Larkin-Mantha Rasmussen-Nielsen-Nyquist Anthanisou-Helm-Vanek Abdelkader-Glendening-Frk Pretty ugly and will looks even worse after the deadline. Replacing Nyquist and Vanek with Zadina and Svechnikov will be nice to see but it’s going to be a mess for a while. I think Svechnikov needs to get the Mantha treatment and get his s*** together in the AHL

LOL. Kane and Toews both put up less than 80 points and their AAV is 10.5 mil each. Larkin at 70 points at 6.1 is a great deal. Less than market value equals team friendly deal. Why is anyone complaining?
