    2019 Draft

All you need to know is Broberg was the best berg

Keep grasping straws. There's literally nothing to complain about. It's like suddenly the team is doing what you griped about them not doing for years... rebuilding, committing to young players... and now you're forced to manufacture reasons to be mad. First this years draft, now Larkin's contract. When is it no longer the teams fault and just oneself being insatiable? He said Larkins contract isn't team friendly because it's not 6 years 5 million. I said why isn't AA's 3 years 2 million? I don't actually believe that to be the necessary, just parroting dumb logic with dumb logic to shed light on the point.

LOL. Kane and Toews both put up less than 80 points and their AAV is 10.5 mil each. Larkin at 70 points at 6.1 is a great deal. Less than market value equals team friendly deal. Why is anyone complaining?

    Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)

Damn, wish we would’ve got Larkin for 8 years/1 mill per year. Way to go Holland....

I don't disagree, Blash has used him as the net front guy and Mantha has been successful at it. However, that wasn't really his play style until joining the Red Wings. Going forward, if he molds well into a net front guy I'll be happy. If Ras steals that role and he hovers around the top of the circle I'll probably be happy too.

I love that we've abandoned the Troubas, Bogosians, Edlers, and Faulks of the world. This is the sign of a successful rebuild no?

I'm in love with how much of a big dumb dingus you are Genius draft pick by Holland. When Ericsson leaves the team we will have a big hole in the pylon department. Setkov should fill that nicley. Seems Ken learned a thing or two about planning for the future after not being able to replace Lids...

It will be ok, because as i said all summer, Z is done. But you are just trying to start an argument. You know exactly what I am saying. The .market dictates these salaries, and the owners cause this by the prices they charge to even go to a game. You know I'm not against signing these kids. Despite "The Market" I just don't think the cap hit is team team friendly. Maybe I'm stuck in the 90's. So be it. But that doesn't warrant constant attacks on an opinion in a (failed) attempt to get me to fly off the handle and reciprocate your approach. I'm not the same person I was in the past. Again, despite my opinion, I'm good with this because it's a wash of Z's contract goung to LTIR. That'll give us $2.8M plus Franzen's $3.9M in cap room. That means The New Z and Rasmussen will be up and maybe Hronek, thus making me even more happy that we are going in the "rebuild" direction. If Old Z were playing, I'd be a bit mad because then there would be no more kids this season because of the two cap hits. But I respect your opinion and examples on how it's good. It makes sense. Instead of baiting and trolling you should just respect other opinions even if they don't support yours.

    2019 Draft

Gotcha, I'll edit my OP to take Lafreniere out. Cozens is nice, but I prefer Broberg so far (also the name Broberg has so much meme potential, it's a can't miss) Podkolzin looks like the next Datsyuk/Kovalev to me, which is why he excites me more than Kakko and others.

I agree that one of Holmstrom / Ehn will likely be the next Emmerton / Andersson, if even that good, but I don't see much reason to doubt that Turgeon could be the next Glendening, if not better. He has the defensive acumen, great penalty killer, and good faceoff guy, and he may have a little higher offensive upside. I'd like to see him, like Dabura said, be given an opportunity to take over that 4th line center role in the next year, year and a half.

Ill leave Z out of the lineup when Z says he's done.

I think you have to at least give it a try. Given how important Z is to this team and how big a hole he's going to leave at center (at least for the next year or two), it wouldn't surprise me if they tried a bunch of different things with the 3C and 4C spots, if only to get a better idea of what we have. With this being another transitional year, you could definitely make the case that running Helm and Glendening as your bottom-six pivots -- in Z's absence -- isn't really playing the long game, is more of play-it-safe-in-an-effort-to-squeak-into-the-playoffs strategy. On the other hand, with the team getting younger and more inexperienced, maybe you want the veterans at center, at least for the 2018-19 season. I'm hoping Turgeon picks up right where he left off before the blood clot scare. But, yeah -- even if he does, the earliest I could see him straight-up "taking Glendening's job" is the next trade deadline, if Glendening is traded. I've cooled on Holmstrom. I like Ehn as a potential future 4C; he's a big body, good skater, thinks the game like a pro. Kinda-sorta reminds me of the Johan Franzen we thought we were getting when we drafted Johan Franzen, i.e. a big, strong, two-way checking-line centerman. Maybe Sheahan is a better comparable. Fortunately (?), 4C isn't really an important position for a rebuilding team, so I'm fine with pretty much anyone being in that slot. Incuding Glendening.

Yeah but have you seen Rasmussen with his shirt off yet? Until we get a good look at his pecs/nips, we have no idea if he's willing to pay the price or not.

Vanek signed for nearly the exact cap hit as Mantha, so obvious Mantha is done. Only you could be upset by this deal
