I think Abdelkader is a 3rd liner probably overpaid by 2 mill I think Dekyser is a #4 probably overpaid by 2 mill I think their situations are more similar than they are different, respective of their different positions. Agreed that DK had a better season this year though. Agree with DK and agree on Abby somewhat. He definitely benefited from playing in the top 6 in the past. I guess I don't think Abby is as useless as some of you do. I think he's a fine bottom 6 forward.

Except Dekeyser is actually a decent NHL player. Abby is not in the same boat as anyone on this team. He is the boat anchor...

DD is a #4 to #6 Dman on just about any team in the NHL today...It just so happens that he's been given more ice time against the oppositions #1 line, and it shows because on any given night - he's our best guy back there. Abdelkader is/was nothing special...IMHO - he owes a lifetime of Tim Horton's gift cards to both Hank/Dats for making him look good, and for helping him fool Holland into that 8 yr albatross of a contract.

The fact is there was a cross check which resulted in a player falling over and cracking his head. There were obviously other variables but the cross check resulted in an injury and he should be penalized.

I'm not buying that Nielsen would get bought out before Abdelkader, and that Abdelkader is somehow immune to buyout. Nielsen's contract sucks, but is still a somewhat useful player. Abdelkader's contract sucks, and he sucks.

Okay really though, I think his injury concerns will at least make a bunch of teams steer clear, possibly lowering his next contract some.. It's unfortunate. Hope the fixes work and he's healthy from here on out though.. He's one of the most exciting players in the league imo.

The scoring droughts with Cozens don’t concern you? However I love the idea of a 6-3 scoring center with the speed, stick handling, and shot of a MacKinnon.

Last year a lot of people were suggesting we should trade up to 3 to grab Zadina. I said it was a terrible idea because it would cost a ton, and it was a deep draft, so just take best player available at 6. I have the same mindset this year. The difference is, last year I said it's possible Zadina slips to us at 6. This year, I don't think there's any way Byram slips to us at 6. We will still be getting a really good player in Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras or Podkolzin, but unfortunately I'd say there's close to zero percent chance we get Byram...
