But those contracts will be burning out quick over the next few years, by the time we're in a position to compete. The only one that will be remaining that supposedly can't be traded is Abdelkader's. I just don't see how that one contract hurts us, even when we are good again. And like mentioned previously, it could always be bought out in the last year or two as well, if need be. Point is, Holland didn't leave us in a bad spot, like so many (not necessarily you) seem to believe, and Yzerman has a relatively good spot, coming in to (continue to) rebuild this team.

Gifted or not gifted the PP, SJ was not given 4 goals. Vegas kills that penalty, they win, end of story. Vegas deserved to loose. Obviously the Vegas PK and the cloudier goal were not identical, however in both scenarios something fluky happened and in both scenarios the team that lost couldn’t recover from it which was on them, you can’t blame the team that took advantage. You want to put an “asterisk” next to it, then go do it to every cup winner ever. Every game has bad calls, you show me a game that was called to perfection. As long as it’s not a call that ends the game (ie. the Dallas/buffalo goal) then it’s fair game. Vegas needs to stop crying about a bad call, and they need to look in the mirror and see why they actually lost.

Yeah no doubt if I wanted to leave it would be no problem. I just get the feeling that deep down Holland wanted to die a Red Wing. I would too in his position. But I also like 25 million dollars and apparently so does Ken... There's no way he can do worse than Chia. I think people will be surprised with Holland's handling of Edmonton in a good way. I think he needed a fresh start as much as the Red Wings did.

I've explained several times why I don't believe any of those contracts, besides maybe Abdelkader's, will hurt us long term. All I get back is, yes they will, without any explanation as to why... If you're going to say these contracts are going to hurt us long term, back it up with reasons why... None of the "bad" players / contracts will need to be protected in the expansion draft. Not one. Exactly. The only thing I'll add is that NTC's don't matter when it comes to protection in the expansion draft. It's only NMC's that must be protected, and we won't have a single one on the books by the time the expansion draft rolls around.
