I think the quicker we get Mo and RayRay PAYDAY$ done it gives a clearer picture on what we have in the wallet. At year end they both said they want to be here so thats a positive. I am good with Ghost/Sprong walking. I am thinking Simon runs 2nd unit PP and Mo 1st. Goaltending is bit trickier perhaps Mr Y is hedging his bet to see how things go with a playoff run in GR? Lyon/Cossa and split them? Not sure what you do with Husso as you wouldn't go 3 deep with Cossa sitting in the 3rd spot as that wouldn't make sense and buying Husso out makes no sense. I actually quite like Yzermans explanation as to why he doesn’t like to keep bringing up these kids and sending them down. Stay there, play well & succeed. One’s gotta hope that at very least Holl & Petry hopefully get moved somehow? Waived, traded, bought out. I don’t know the repercussions of waiving or buying out but can’t be much worse than having them at our blue line. Ghost I hope stays, he plays such a different role on D for us, but I know his asking will be high. One thing that very much made me nervous was Yzermans talk on goaltending. Noted too much pucks went in our net but thought goaltending was good and full team defence was not. Maybe I just took it that way? But I was really hoping to pull a Hail Mary for Swayman or what might a trade for Markstrom look like? Even with Kane we would need another top 6 guy, which is never easy to get. Without Kane the mountain becomes much steeper. Burgers could replace Sprongs numbers but not Kanes. It’ll be very interesting to see what Yzerman actually does here.

So we'll let Kane's PPG go, Ghost's 60 points go, replace them with rookies and then keep a defender that can't defend and makes too many mistakes.

I think there's a real good chance that Kane stays. I think he and Debrincat have a relationship that's a lot more meaningful than a lot of us realize. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kane take a 4 year, 5 mil per deal to play out his last 4 years with his buddy. Detroit is nicely situated between his hometowns of Chicago and Buffalo, and he is going to get the ice time he wants on our team due to our lack of talent up front. If I'm Yzerman, I'm saying we want you, but we can't give you 2015 Kane type money. If you can take 2024 Kane type money, you can have it for 4 years. Of course, Kane and his agent are pros. They're not going to turn down 10 mil per for 4 years if another club (Columbus) offers it. That's why they've been hush and saying the typical things through the end of the season.

When Yzerman spoke yesterday I'm not sure why nobody pressed him on the blackholes on defense (Holl, Petry, and Chiarot) that collect over 10 million.
