This is not getting better. It's not bottomed out but it's not improving and one might think has already peaked. This same club going forward can't do much of anything up or down. It's not going to crash into the bottom 2 for a choice pick or 2, it's not going to the playoffs. I feel hard choices need to be made, NOW, and they aren't. Something has to be done. A trade, a big trade, a coaching change or even, *AHEM* a front office change.
 
The current set-up cannot exist and succeed. 

26 years as a fan and I wouldn't trade the 4 cups for anything. So many cool memories as a fan. Great players, great games, great fans. .  If you've been a Red Wings fan long enough you've been spoiled by a very classy and successful franchise. Good things all have to come to an end and it's a totally different perspective and I look forward to the years ahead even if some of them are pretty lean.  Cheers to another cycle of 25+ years.

I really think something was on the verge with Blashill but then we went and won that Winnipeg game and that earned him at least another 15 games of equity.  Sad. 

Those two players should easily get us Pulujarvi, Nurse and their 2019 first round draft pick...

Olympic hockey was never going to be interesting this  year  but at least some of the other countries have a chance now. 

They aren't.  Some individual players are better, the team as a whole isn't.

If E was 22 and was being paid league minimum, nobody would have a problem with him on our third pairing.
Given he is 30+, being paid 4mil+, and is on our 1st pairing, he's under a microscope.

Yeah, Ericsson has been much better this season, the past few weeks in particular. I honestly thought this was a joke thread, in the same way someone just made a thread "3 goal Howard"...
Ericsson isn't a "great" defenseman by any stretch, but he's far from this team's biggest issue right now.

Blashill is on sportsnet right now doing an interview and they are trying to keep this going and he keeps playing it down. 

Guy needs to get an itchy trigger finger really quick. I'm getting really sick of watching him stickhandle to no where.

Guy signs for less than he originally was offered. Played his hand really early.  Kenny knew a  young kid doesn't want to play in Russia.  AA went to Switzerland to once again pretend he was interested in playing overseas. Once again his bluff was called. Holland got him signed for less money.  Kenny won't get any credit for it. Pretty simple

The Wings will likely be in the basement in a few weeks.  The defense, as everyone predicted, is terrible again.  I never get tired of saying this, but this team has the highest payroll in the league.  

Being outskated, outworked, outsmarted, outplayed. Unacceptable effort.

3 goals not enough to win with Mrazek in net, per usual.

Well what do you expect, he ranked almost dead last in SP and GAA last year while Howard ranked right at the top with the same D.
Of course it's not all his fault, but he's not helping.

I'm excited for this game. Las Vegas will bring hockey back to being the #1 sport soon enough.
