mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 I can see why MSU hired John L. He has turned around every program he's ever coached, but its not near as easy to do it in a conference like the big 10. Thats why I can see why people are starting doubt him
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 Mariucci has always been a very good college football coach. He got lucky with good players in san fran IMO. Mariucci to MSU would make a lot of sense since he is from michigan and his best friend, Tom Izzo, coaches the MSU basketball team. I heard of similar version of this before he was hired as the Lion's head coach. Now I have a tainted view of him. However, the Spartans will never be as dismal as the Lions - if the curse of the Lions can be reversed off Mariucci, I think he would be a great fit for State. BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 State fans? They seem to kind of disappear after a big loss, except for Timothy1997, or in the event they manage to beat Michigan. Hey, I've been out of town with limited computer access The MSU playcalling absolutely baffles me sometimes. I just don't get it.
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 MSU fans you don't want Mooch. You have to remember the suffering from the Lions don't you? If Mooch went in their he would ruin your future QB Keith Nichol. I've watched Nichol play live probally at least 10 times, and he plays much like Stanton. In fact, I bet he he could be your starter next year. A kid your building your team around with that kind of play should not be handing it off, and throwing 2 yard passes every play. Thats what your going to get with Mooch.

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 (edited) Bye bye BCS TCU My school better rebound quickly on the road against a tough Utah team next week, or it's bye bye for a chance at a conference championship. If that happens, then dare I say it, maybe fighting for their lives for a bowl game. First loss for my school in a good while. They better not moan and quit on me, there's still a lot of football left to be played this season. Focus on making a late bowl game. mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Sad, but worthless news to probally all of you.... U-M 5th string RB Mister Simpson is transfering. I liked having the guy with the coolest name is sports on our team.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Time to take the Little Brown Jug back today! Go Blue! And I'm hoping for another milestone today. If my sorry-ass 'Hoos can score two touchdowns against sorry-ass Duke (and kick the extra points) it'll be the most points they've scored all year, against a schedule that so far has included the likes of Western Michigan and Wyoming. BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 MSU down 10-3 at the half to Illinois Oh well, at least Spartan hockey season starts in a couple weeks.
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Well now it's 10-10, but yeah the Sparty's look good for hockey season @ No. 5. I'm excited for hockey too. I got a job with FSU's team so I'll be watching all their games this year from the press box.

mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 We'll have to start a college hockey thread soon. 20-10 Ill
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Illinois is driving for the winning score with under 30 seconds.... And they kick the winning field goal - 23-20, Illini. Every year it's the same story for MSU. Everyone thinks they're looking pretty good and they should provide a real challenge for the Big Ten, and every year they completely fail to live up to expectations. No wonder Sparty fans are so bitter towards Michigan
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 State seems to have gotten to their mid-season implosion early this year. Ah well.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Yeah, the implosion usually isn't due for a few more weeks. I honestly have nothing to say, other than that I'm full of hatred toward MSU football right now.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 And so the Little Brown Jug returns to its rightful resting grounds. Great effort by Minnesota to make it interesting in the end, a little sloppy play by Michigan, but in the end all is well. Undefeated Michigan rolls.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Ahhhh yes.....the Jug returns to its rightful place in Ann Arbor. Next week: the Paul Bunyan Trophy stays where it belongs too.
Sting 11 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 My alma mater (Purdue) held in there against Notre Dame, but our defense is just too young and inexperienced right now. Curtis Painter threw for 399 yards and Selwyn Lymon had 238 yards receiving...we thrashed the ND defense...but didn't complete drives like ND did. If the defense was a little more seasoned and skilled we'd be damned dangerous.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 My neighbor basically threw LSU tickets for this weekend on my lap for $0.00, so I was jumping for joy to go to Tiger Stadium today for the first time in forever. Mississippi State (the other MSU that is pretty painful to watch at times ) is just not good. What the hell happened to them, they used to dominate on defense and ever since the late 90s they have stunk. LSU was up 35-0 on them only 20 minutes into the game on the way to an easy 48-17 win. JaMarcus Russell was tearing them apart. It was embarassing. 18-20 for 330 yards, 3 TDs. That's efficiency (despite the not-so-great opponent).
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Ahhhh yes.....the Jug returns to its rightful place in Ann Arbor. Next week: the Paul Bunyan Trophy stays where it belongs too. Goddamn right. 18-20 for 330 yards, 3 TDs. That's efficiency (despite the not-so-great opponent). It's worthy of an emphatic "DAMN SON."
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Good! The jug is back where it belongs! Hopefully it will stay that way for the next 17 years again. I'm really starting to love this team. They are playing with a chip on their shoulder every game, and I love that.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Yeah, the implosion usually isn't due for a few more weeks. I honestly have nothing to say, other than that I'm full of hatred toward MSU football right now. Well that was totally depressing to watch - even from someone who is first and foremost a UM fan - I though the Spartans were going to roar back in OT. I'm glad my dad is in Italy this weekend - he's a big Spartan fan and thought they'd rebound fine this week. Plus on top of that he's a Lions fan too - yikes! I take back what I said about Stanton lat week (that he wasn't that bad vs ND) - he was dismal this week. I'd consider playing the #2 guy if I were coaching MSU - can't be any worse. Congrats to Michigan - a little lax there at the end of the game, but they took care of business enough in the first half that it didn't matter. p.s. Rivas better not miss those chip shots in a close game
ShanTheMan14 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Based on what I've seen so far out of this season, Ohio State-Michigan is going to be the biggest game of the year, and one of their best matchups in years. I can't wait.
