Happy Pancake 6 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 (edited) Pulled from the previously quoted Spartan thread: Did they catch his [bo's] death on film? Not sure if I'd rather see that, or the Steve Irwin stingray incident... I can honestly say I grew up liking MSU, just not as much as Michigan since everyone but my mom on her side of the family went to MSU or was affiliated with it in some other way but enough Spartan fans have shown their true colors today. I know there aren't any Spartans on this board like that but I have lost all of my respect for the green and white. There were too many completely rotten apples and it has soured me to MSU. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Those Spartan remarks really piss me off. It's really to bad. I know not all are like that, but honestly how can you say that? We all have to realize that the jerks always come out of the woodworks in times like this, making the rest of their fans look bad. Who knows, maybe they're not even real Spartans? What did the guy ever do to piss them off but beat them fair and square? Incidently, George Perles was on WXYT today - very nice interview. Apparently, him and Bo were fairly chummy and their Florida wintering abodes were close-by, leading to seasonal get-togethers. On another note, I want to preemtively congratulate Michigan on a fabulous season, regardless of tomorrow's outcome. At best we're 12-0, worst 11-1. Particularly to Lloyd Carr, for taking the initiative after some criticism last year and making some changes that have his team back among the elite few in college football. I'll be rooting hard for the Maize and Blue tomorrow - here's hoping for a classic, particularly in memory of Bo.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Look, I'm not going to say defend what people were saying, because it's completely wrong. But if Izzo died of a heart attack tomorrow, you can't tell me there wouldn't be some UM supporters (not you guys here) saying the same sorts of things. I'd be mad, just like you UM fans have a right to be, but I wouldn't take it as every UM fan thinks that way. Assholes are assholes, doesn't matter whether they're wearing green and white, or yellow and blue. The anonymity of the internet just gives them a voice. The amount of Michigan State bashing that Michigan fans do on a regular, daily basis absolutely pales in comparison to the amount of Michigan bashing that State fans regularly do. State fans have a very, very deep-seated hatred for Michigan that isn't reciprocated. There'd be a few dumbasses. Every team has 'em. It wouldn't come close to what we saw on that State board. Gawd, only three more hours to go. Michigan NEEDS to win this. I'm seeing family for Thanksgiving, and that includes my OSU-loving cousin. I can't be sitting through an extended weekend listening to him if Michigan loses.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 (edited) Whoever scores first will win! If its Michigan...they'll roll with the win it for Bo extra momentum and will lead all the way through en route to a 27-24 victory. If OSU scores first, i pick them 24-16...with the game really not being as close as the score indicates (late TD by UM) Ok i guess i gotta pick one or the other...my gut says Ohio St. Edited November 18, 2006 by Lou_Siffer

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 It will be a close game all the way through. Michigan will pull it out by less than a touchdown....Let's say 24-20.
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Lets win this for Bo! 28-17 Wolverines! Like Rockymtgirl said it has been a GREAT year no matter what happens.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 If Notre Dame or Cal beat USC....then it's either Florida, Rutgers, or a rematch in the title game. Question for everybody....if it does go to a rematch...say Michigan beats OSU by a wide margin, something like 24-10 or bigger, and then in a rematch OSU wins in a close game, something like 17-14..... If that happens...who is the AP champ?
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Questions like that make my brain hurt. One thing that will piss me off is if ND wins out, and U-M loses. If ND would play in the title game it would be a crime because U-M went to their house, and flat out kicked their ass. Why is everyone saying Bo is also a buckeye? Yes he coached there, but like I read online if Bo knew media were reffering to him as a buckeye/wolverine he would end his own life. Bo hated OSU with all his heart, but also respected them more then anyone.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Halftime. Michigan's play-calling SUCKS right now.
timothy1997 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Troy Smith owns Michigan right now. Wolverines are lucky they are only down 14 pts.
timothy1997 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Good Game Michigan. Ohio State was clearly the better team today and well deserving of the victory...and in 50 days, will be well deserving of the National Championship. Congrats to the Buckeyes. Congrats to Troy Smith on winning the Heisman trophy.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Michigan's defense chokes. What a letdown. Wells and Pittman right up the middle... and then Shawn Crable comes up with the dumbest play of his life. The defense finally stands up and makes a stop (as opposed to Ohio's center just snapping the ball wherever) and he takes an egregious penalty to seal the deal. I bet it was a real nice game and everything, but right now it's just gut-wrenching, awful stuff. Ugh... As weird as it sounds, I'm going to hate seeing the Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. Well, congrats to Troy Smith and the Buckeyes. They outplayed Michigan and deserved to win.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 It was close enough not to squash rematch talk. I don't know if I want one or not. I guess it depends on what happens in the SEC, Pac-10, and Big East. If Rutgers wins out, even though they'd be just steamrolled by OSU, they deserve the spot. If not....well....when you consider all the one-loss teams, and you consider who they lost to.... Dunno if I want a championship that way, though. Because if Michigan and OSU were to rematch in Glendale, and Michigan wins, they're technically national champions, but it's nothing more than a split. And that would bring on playoff talk, which I don't want.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Good game by Michigan, but a better game by OSU. Personally, I don't want to see a rematch, especially since UM lost. I wouldn't want to see a rematch no matter who won, but I think there would be a better case for rematch if UM won in a close game than lost in a close one. Give it to Rutgers if they win out, otherwise pick a 1 loss team. I'm cheering for Rugters since the girlfriend is a Rutgers alum, and has decided that if Rugters goes to a BCS bowl, we're going to go.
timothy1997 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 USC wins the rest of their games, they will be in the National Championship game. If there is a rematch for Michigan....it will be Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl.
Happy Pancake 6 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 As nice as it would be, I don't think Michigan deserves a rematch. Three turnovers and they still lost. Unfortunately, that's it. Let's win the Rose Bowl at least. Most disappointing Rose Bowl appearance ever.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Why is everyone saying Bo is also a buckeye? Yes he coached there, but like I read online if Bo knew media were reffering to him as a buckeye/wolverine he would end his own life. Bo hated OSU with all his heart, but also respected them more then anyone. It's legit - because he went to school there to get his masters and was an assistant coach - therefore he was a Buckeye for a period of his life. Great game - glad it lived up the hype. I'm sorry we came up just a bit short. Clearly, we couldn't stop Smith and his offense and I really thought our D would fare much better. But give credit to them - they defended their own turf (crappy turf if I may say). Henne was shaky at times, but he gave it his best shot. I'm sorry for Lloyd Carr - I would have liked to see him get a W. Congrats to the Buckeyes - Smith was awesome, he has my Heisman vote. I see no way any other team beats them in the NC game. On to the Bowl game - a must win for UM - even more so than today I believe. Let's see how the rest of the season for the other teams pans out.
hockeyfanatic 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 As a Michigan fan, I want no rematch. They outplayed us and deserve another opponent. The Wolverines had their chances and they let it slip away. The two long rushing TDs hurt a lot and the helmet-to-helmet at the end was huge. Plenty of mistakes by both sides, but the UM defense was the biggest let down. Great play calling for the Bucks, though. Congratulations on the Heisman and trip to AZ. This was the national championship as far as I'm concerned, these are without a doubt the best two teams in the country. Never thought I'd be so disapointed to go to the Rose bowl. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 I've decided I want no rematch either. Best-case scenario, we win and it's forever tainted because it's nothing more than a split where we just happened to win the right game. Worst-case.....two losses to OSU in one season. Neither sounds like much fun. Even weirder: What if Rutgers wins out but gets shafted....goes to the Sugar Bowl and beats SEC champ Florida....Michigan wins the game in Glendale and is "national champion", despite Rutgers being undefeated out of a BCS conference? What a weird year. - Red Wings earn best regular season record, lose in playoffs. - Pistons earn best regular season record, lose in playoffs. - Tigers earn AL championship, lose Series. - Wolverines win out but lose to OSU. Been nothing but falling just short of the goal, all year. Thank God for the consistency of the Lions. They just suck.
