#SNPlayoffs #Canucks Luongo asks for trade. Van didn't even need to ask him to waive NTC. He tells them himself in exit meeting he wants out.

It makes sense. He knows VAN wants to go with Schneider. He's also trying to help out the Canucks by making it seem, to the rest of the leauge, that the trade is happening because of his wants (not the team's) and that will help to not diminish his value on the market.

I feel bad for any team who picks up that contract but at the same time he would do wonders for a team that has playoff aspirations (as opposed to Stanley Cup aspirations) like Tampa

I wonder what they'll get in return. Moving Luongo gives them 5.3M in cap space (not including any rise or fall in salary cap for next year), but at the same time, Schneider is due for a raise, and I imagine he'll be getting a bit more than his current 900k salary.

You've got to figure that Schneider gets in the $1.6-2.4M range - at least that would be my guess.

If Scott Gomex can yield Ryan McDonaugh in a trade I'm going out on a limb and saying Luongo can yield Nail Yakupov....ok, I'm kidding

Sorry but IMO Luongo is an Overrated Goalie. Granted he is good and has been stellar at times but he hasn't lived up to all the hype I've heard about him. Granted he's had a few injuries and that has held him back a bet but he's still a quality and high caliber goaltender and hopefully whereever he does go he can help that team.

Luongo was playing well this postseason and still got the hook from his coach. That's a pretty clear message.

I'm not surprised he asked for the trade. He's a good but not great goalie with an awful contract.

Vancouver fans over on hfboards always yell "It's a great cap hit!" But the reality is you have to sign a 33 year old goaltender (with questionable mental toughness) for the next 10 years.

Welcome to Columbus Luongo. Good-bye Nash.
"It is a lot easier to be an ******* to words than to people"-xkcd

Tootoo does NOT belong on this team. He is classless and I would rather see the Wings be bad than classless. I feel the same way about Bertuzzi as well, but he at least CAN make the team better. With Tootoo the team becomes worse and in danger of being classless. Would you have liked Claude on the team? Or Roy? No. So why would you be okay with that POS.

Calling it right now, Luongo to Tampa for Vinny straight up.

I doubt Columbus is on his list of teams. Tampa is a good possibility.

Who has another bad contract on their team that would need a good (not great) goalie?

Bad contracts are kind of their wheelhouse. :D
