Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 (edited) For what its worth: Hockey Buzz Eklund @Eklund 1m Crazy! I was just told Zet feels confident that Alfredsson could be headed to the Wings. Its eklund. And perhaps we should look at what he's actually said. Zetterberg feels confident Alfie COULD be headed to the Wings. He could be headed to Boston or Ottawa, too. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 So if he leaves the team he was on for years and years and years to come here and he wins a cup with us, do we have to retire his number, or is that just done by teams that are desperate to have something hanging from the rafters? 3 wingsfan4795, esteef and puckloo39 reacted to this
NAVYWING 2 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 Put him with Samuelson and Franzen... make a good 4th line!
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 And at 40, his 26 points this past season would have tied him w/ Brunner for the 4th highest scoring forward on the team with a fairly sizable drop to the next in line which was Flip with 17. Edit: That said, I really don't see him playing anywhere other than with the Sens. This - and I think we shouldn't worry too much about his age. Holland could see him as a short-term replacement for Fil (or Brunner, god forbid) somewhere in the top 6. It will be a 1 year deal that gives guys like Nyquist and Tatar one more year on the 3rd. 1 Dominator2005 reacted to this
AusWing40 61 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 Idk why people still post things from Eklund. It's never been accurate from what I've seen lol
lwing 68 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 What is it with the Wings and their obsession with old players past their prime? They are the equivalent of hockey MILFs. We have plenty of veteran leadership in Hank and Dats and they can actually still play! Out with the old, in with the new.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 Alfie is the perfect 1-year insurance plan for next season. This years' UFA class is weak, and guys are going to get long, outrageous contracts. I think Holland is doing the right thing going after guy who can still contribute for 1 year. Low, low risk here guys. 1 Dominator2005 reacted to this
wingfan40 1 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenlze8m It's official the Detroit Red Wings have signed Daniel Alfredsson. Must just be a verbal agreement since he can't sign until after 12 1 Dominator2005 reacted to this
Travis 576 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 Now this is interesting. @RealKyper: Early indication this morn is Alfredsson #Senators doesn't look very good at all and a real possibly he may move. #RedWings frontrunners Not a huge fan of this. I'm actually kind of excited about this. While he's not in his prime and we could you a bigger threat. A short contract with alfie could allow a nice buffer while the young guns come into their own. We still need one more acquisition though 1 Dominator2005 reacted to this

marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 I'm pumped if this happens. One year deal, risk free. The guy can still play, can come up big in the playoffs. Perfect one year hold over until some of the youngins are ready to step up into a top 6 role. 3 wingsfan4795, wingedominance13 and Greatness=PavelDatsyuk reacted to this

Opie 308 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 As a one year stop gap, two at most, I am ok with this. He will do well on Dats Wing (IF Bob Mc is right), and is a proven commodity giving the Wings the ability to split Dats and Z. It also give Tatar Anderson Nyquist another year or so to fine tune their chemistry and skill. I would like to see: Abby Dats Alfie Brunner Z Mule Tatar Anderson Nyquist Miller Helm/Emmerton Eaves/Tootoo Not the best line up the Wings have ever Iced, but I have also seen worse! 1 wingedominance13 reacted to this

GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 I'm fine with Alfredsson, as long as it doesn't stop the Wings from still pursuing that second line center. If this move is combined with say just bringing Cleary back as well, then not nearly as content.

Guest Playmaker Report post Posted July 5, 2013 I don't think it makes any sense whatsoever. I try to defend Holland as much as possible, but signing a 40 year old Swede...I'm dumbfounded. I also don't like signing other team's icons. He's a Senator. Modano was a Star. Even the Ray Bourque thing left a bad taste. Just not what the Wings need at this point. Not to mention he has orange curly hair and wears a girly headband.

Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 (edited) Not the biggest fan of this idea, but here's what I do like about it: if he comes here, it'll be for one reason and one reason only, and that is to win an effing Cup - and this season. Travis 576 Report post Posted July 5, 2013 @DarrenDreger: I firmly believe Alfredsson is leaving Ottawa. I believe Sens are aware of this. I also believe Detroit is the frontrunner. #TSN
