krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted November 27, 2014 I'm not much of a GDT poster, I find it too distracting lol. I'll do my best though. 2-1 after 1. Mantha looked good in the couple shifts I seen, had a great chance on the PP, but it's going to be background now that the Wings game is on... Go Wings! Go Griffs! Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) Being an engineering student makes hockey fan life hard As in normally I'd be watching the s*** out of both games I know how you feel. Every game I decide to watch makes me feel terribly guilty for not studying, and those precious couple hours lost definitely reflect in my grades, which makes it worse. BottleOfSmoke 5,965 Report post Posted December 6, 2014 @petewallner: Anthony Mantha 'hard on myself' right now with 1 pt in 5 games, but coach Jeff Blashill unconcerned. #GoGRG http://t.co/7xDtwxKF3c

krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted December 6, 2014 I watched the game last night and to be honest Mantha wasn't near as dominant as he was in the first few games I watched. He still had a few chances but not a great game overall for him. It's just taking him a little while to adjust like it does almost every player making the jump from junior to pro. Pulkkinen is by far the most ready top 6 forward down there right now and he should get the call before Mantha for sure. He has been playing unbelievable hockey down there for over a year now and seems to be getting better every single game. Athanasiou is also playing great right now, the kid spews confidence, and the things he can do out there really make you take notice. I've heard Bob Kaser say numerous times, the same thing Ken and Mick say about Datsyuk, "he is worth the price of admission every night". He has Helm type speed, with much much better hands. I'm as high on Andreas as any prospect on our system. 3 PavelValerievichDatsyuk, Detroit \# 1 Fan and RyanBarnes! reacted to this
dirtydangles 1,328 Report post Posted December 6, 2014 Yeah I was at the Marlies game earlier this week and Mantha got taken off of Pulkkinen's line and really looked invisible out there for a huge kid. I was disappointed to say the least. Jensen looked really good that game as did Pulkkinen. I wonder if this is a case of Mantha putting too much pressure on himself. Although most players would at least work hard on other facets of their game to make up for it (I don't see Mantha really working hard on the back check or chasing pucks down). GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted December 6, 2014 Learning the pro game and coming off an injury that killed his pre-season. The chances of his coming in an lighting the league up were slim before the injury. If year 2 comes and hes still going at 1 pt in 5 games you can be worried. 1 PavelValerievichDatsyuk reacted to this
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 6, 2014 This is Mantha's first experience playing against men. Its going to take him a while to adapt to not being the strongest guy on the ice, where he could overpower the opposition to a 50 goal season. 1 PavelValerievichDatsyuk reacted to this

Richdg 267 Report post Posted December 8, 2014 Mantha is doing just fine. He is just ending his pre-season games as we speak. Everyone else he is playing against is 20 games into their seasons and their pre-seasons. he is just getting into game shape. Its not like he is performing poorly either. Just not great yet. That will come. He is taking his shoots, making good passes if Kaser is to be trusted at all, using his size. Just what we need.
