joesuffP, you're getting way too hung up on labeling the lines. Our third line is not played as a typical third line. Nyquist and Tatar are ranked 5th and 7th respectively in 5on5 TOI/G. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Larkin are all getting more ice time, and deservedly so. Abdelkader is getting a couple extra minutes due to him being a fixture on that top line. The only other player that you could really argue that should see less time is Richards, and he's ranked 6th with 18 seconds less than Nyquist and a measly 9 seconds more than Tatar...

I just think about who is more likely to score on Dats wing, Tatar/Nyquist or Jurco/Pulkinnen... The top six has our best players and should be counted on to do most of our scoring. Not having depth scoring down to the third line isn't going to break us. Load up the talent up front because we arent scoring, we don't have the luxury of having amazing depth

Over the last 5 games, since Tatar and Nyquist have been together on the 3rd line, our 5v5 scoring was a full goal higher than it was over the first 19 games. Overall scoring half a goal higher. And that's with only scoring 1 against FLA. Tatar and Nyquist had 4 goals in those games. From their history, I don't think you can expect much better.

Not to say they shouldn't be in the top 6, but having them on the third line hasn't been hurting. Could even say it's helped.

Why must we always give Datsyuk sub-par linemates

Atleast give him 1 of abby, nyquist, larkin, tatar. You know, top 6 forwards.

Because he's that good, Tatar needs to be with him tho I know Blash wants him and Nyquist to learn how to carry a line, I think he should just leave that task to Nyquist.

Richards sub-par? Huh? The man speaks Datsyukian. Only one more speaks that language which would be the captain, Z.

Let me guess.. You want him paired with.. Jurco and Pulkkinen?

So you didn't read the rest of my post where I suggested Abby, Larkin, Nyquist or Tatar? I am not a fan of Jurco or Pulkinnen. Don't even think they should be on the team but thanks

How is Richards ANYWHERE near Datsyuk?

To both above...

Every now, and then I'll watch the oppositions' feed since I enjoy certain play-by-play guys better than Daniels.

Rick Jeanneret, and Jack Edwards are my guilty pleasures.

Rick Jeannaret is a classic. Buffalo's feed is local to my market, so the Wings feed may be blacked out on Center Ice. I remember calling in to the Sabres show when we traded Kozlov for Hasek and Randy Robitaille got pretty annoyed with me saying we got Hasek for a guy who had been trade bait for a couple of seasons and we fleeced them.

They will in theory see less of the opposition's top pairing, which I agree will help.

The Nyquist-Sheahan-Tatar line has been good, but it's at the cost of not giving our best player (Datsyuk) a decent finisher on his line. Idk what Blashill is trying to prove keeping Nyquist and Tatar away from playmakers that gave them career years. Without their scoring we don't make the playoffs the last two years. Blashill is going way overboard with his strategies. Having a dominant third line isn't winning us any games

Richards doesn't speak Datsyukian. Only Z does. And to an extent Tatar.

Richards does look better with Datsyuk tho. But he has missed a lot of no look passes that guys like Z or Tats or Franzen would have picked off.

He just needs to keep playing with him and he will learn to read him better and better.

Takes time to get used to Datsyuks style of centering.
