Fleury has waived his NMC for the expansion draft.

Bieksa, Phaneuf, and Yandle have all been asked to waive their NMCs, no answer on if they will yet.

Friedman reporting that CBJ has a deal in place for Vegas to take Clarkson for a 1st and prospect in return.

So they take David Clarkson, a guy who won't ever play, plus they get a 1st and a prospect? Good luck offering up one of our 3rds to get them to take injury prone Helm, Howard or Ericsson.  We'll lose Nosek or XO/Jensen, maybe Sheahan giving us little to no cap relief, and we'll be stuck with the hot garbage from last season...nice.

...and fluery gets to celebrate for 2 weeks...hahaha!

I highly doubt Columbus gives up that much for Clarks. Regardless, there's a huge difference in trading a player that will never play again, and trading a player that can still play and contribute, but is a little overpaid. The value of all three of the guys you mention isn't even remotely close to that of Clarkson.

I bet we trade Tyler Bertuzzi and our 3rd rnd pick for Vegas' 7th rnd pick and a guarantee have Howard chosen.

That would be a terrible trade for us, great trade for Vegas.

Panthers correct the record: have not, and will not, ask Yandle to waive NMC

NYR has not asked Staal or Girardi to waive

CBJ has not asked Hartnell to waive

Senators have indeed asked Phaneuf to waive, Dion has not stated if he will or not yet.

Suspected that MTL will trade Beaulieu very soon

Lebrun is suggesting some trades have already been finalized, but that Vegas will not announce them until the window opens on the 18th

Would you rather lose Sheahan or Athanasiou?  Vegas is coming after one of those guys if Holland doesn't negotiate.  I dont like losing Sheahan.  He's young and was a 1st rounder.

There is a zero percent chance that Athanasiou is left unprotected so it's pointless to even discuss. As for Sheahan, I don't really want to lose him either, but it's not like he'd be a huge loss. I think his production would easily be replaced by Nosek. Ideal situation would be losing a bigger contract (Ericsson), but unless Holland can pull off some of his old magic, we will likely lose a young player on a cheap contract (Sheahan, Ouellet, Sproul or Jensen)...

Why would we do this? Howard/Mrazek tandem is seriously the least of our problems rn.

I agree. If Vegas do end up taking Howard in the expansion draft, I'd be okay with it, but there's no way we should be giving up valuable assets to get rid of him. If we're paying off Vegas to take a contract, it should be for Ericsson, not Howard, who is still a very good goaltender.

Sounds like Phaneuf won't waive his NMC despite Senators request. Wonder if they're regretting taking that contract on now.

Ducks no longer asking Bieksa to waive his NMC. Sounds like they have a pre-arranged deal in place for Vegas to select the player of Ducks choice.

Lebrun predicting the Preds will go the 4-D protection route, and will expose James Neal to Vegas.

Again, not sure how serious you can take these guys when they're entertaining the idea that there is even a remote possibilty that Athanasiou could be exposed. Holland has made his fair share of blunders over the past few years, but there's no way he'd lose a talented kid like Andreas for free in an expansion draft... Not going to happen.

Prepare for LGW meltdown...

Hollands Speaks on The Fan 960 Calgary

Quote

Holland on current #RedWings philosophy: "I"m still chasing the playoffs, but at the same time we're trying to draft and develop."

Holland on Vegas: "I'm not prepared to pay any future assets to protect guys. We're submitting seven (fwds), three (D) and one (goalie)."

That just means we'll lose a sub-million dollar contract and be stuck with Ericsson and Howard. Yet he says he wants to draft and develop, but won't pay a small price to guarantee he is able to retain Nosek, XO, Jensen, Sproul etc... He'll lose the talented Nosek when he could've possibly traded a pick away to guarantee losing $4Mish in cap...yep, that's Holland. Come deadline, a recovering Ericsson, Helm or Howard will be our acquisition.

He must feel his vets will get him back to the playoffs instead of opening up cap to make your team better. Oh well....

Ugh....this team will not make the playoffs without shedding cap space to enable them to make the team better by getting better players. I don't understand what Ken Holland is doing. The D will not miraculously get better and the O will not magically reappear. This is not 2007 anymore...

If we had cap space holland would sign girardi for 5 yrs , I'm more hopeful of trading a sheahan for a second rather than losing him for nothing ...or trading green to edm  for a top pick and protect ouellett and sproul or trading for a dumba type

we don't have top end talent to protect from Vegas to just give away a 1-3rd pick

But by trading Green to Edmonton, we'd free up cap space, that would be used to sign Girardi?

I'd still like to use an asset to get Vegas to take Ericsson, but we all know that isn't going to happen. It's not that I think anyone that is left unprotected would be a huge loss, it's just that it would be a huge gain to lose Ericsson. And again, I don't even think Ericsson is THAT bad, just that we could use the cap space, and even more than that, the roster spot.
