I agree that this is probably the case, which is ******* gross. The team 9th overall can get bounced in the best of 5 round and win the ******* lottery.

I just realized that if the NHL goes to a 30 team playoff, the Red Wings still wouldn't be in.  That's pretty sad.

I'm salty af about the possibility of teams ranked 9-16 getting a lottery pick chance. Outside of that, everything is fine. I think it would work better as a 20 team deal with the bottom 4 in each conference having a playoff. At least then the loser getting a lottery shot is not as terrible. 

In the end, should be playoffs or lottery. Not both.
