BOLD Predictions for 2021 Season

As has become tradition, let's see some bold predictions for the 2021 season. I'd stick with 3 each, and try not to make easy choices. Saying "McDavid will lead the league in points" isn't really that interesting or fun. Here goes:

1. Bertuzzi will score more goals than Mantha.

2. Detroit finishes 5th in their division (ahead of Nashville, Florida, and Chicago) but still misses the playoffs.

3. Troy Stecher produces career highs in goals and assists and finishes the season with 23-27 points.

1. Detroit finishes 27th overall ahead of Chicago and falls to Florida by 1pt. Jeff Blashill gets a new 3 yr contract.

2. Bobby Ryan has an exceptional year w/19g and 28a. Gets resigned by Detroit $4.5 x 2yr.

3. Anthony Mantha stays healthy all year.

1. Mantha plays all 56 games, leading the team in goals (25+) and points (60+).

2. Zadina scores 20+ goals, 40+ points.

3. Red Wings win 22 games.

2, Larkin finishes the season with well over a ppg record

3, Philadelphia Flyers wins the cup

1. Gary Bettman announces he's going to have gender reassignment surgery.

2. The Chicago Blackhawks publicly admit that the Marian Hossa LTIR was BS and it was all done to circumvent the cap.

3. CRL and krsmith become best friends.

1) The United Center employees in Chicago will do their best to make the Red Wings feel right at home by pumping in an audience like 'Detroit Sucks' thru their sound system...I wouldn't expect anything less from the FIBS.

2) Battle of Alberta reaches new heights of both violence on the ice, and generates interest among non-hockey fans.

3) Toronto will win the North, but get the boot from the 4th seed in the 1st round of their playoffs  - AND  -  Detroit will play a spoiler, and win a few games late in the season so that the 5th place team in the Central will finish 4th thus making the playoffs instead.

Detroit will finish 10-13 from the bottom and win the draft lottery, drafting Owen Power. With their 2nd 1st rounder they draft Luke Hughes. With their 3rd 1st rounder they draft Aatu Raty. Yes, bold prediction they will have THREE 1st rounders ALL in the top 10!

Not at all a BOLD prediction, but a prediction nonetheless...

Larkin will score at (or very close to) a point per game pace, while playing 20+ minutes a night in all situations, against the best centers in the league, and dummies will still say "he's not a true number one center"...

I don't think your first 2 are all that bold. I can see a HEALTHY Ryan scoring 20. I think Zadina scores closer to 20. They both seem pretty likely IMO. Your 3rd one isn't going to happen. I don't think Mantha does it more than once.

There's only 56 games. 20 goals this year is like 30 in a full season.

1. No one on the Wings will get covid
2. Ottawa makes the playoffs
3. Nielsen will have a bounce back year, score 25+ points, and end as our 2C.

I don't consider 2 to be that "B O L D"...

The Jack Adams isn't really awarded to the best coach, but rather the coach of the team that exceeds expectations. The Red Wings are still expected by a lot of people to finish dead last this season. I can see them surprising a lot of people this season.

1.  Mantha is named captain, injured for the season on opening night

2.  Filip Zadina replaces Mantha on 1st line and scores 30 goals and 65 points in 56 games

3.  Blashill gets hit by a Zadina slapshot and fractures his skull, undergoes surgery and sits out for season.  Bylsma takes over remaining 52 games winning 45 of them, finally getting the Wings back into the playoffs and takes home the Jack Adams for his efforts
