Flyers making trades.  Provorov for sure and Hart probably as of right now.

Or another look...

This is terribly confusing. Briere couldn't just deal Connauton directly to LA and Provorov directly to CBJ?

Its not that confusing.

It's confusing to me from LA's perspective

To LA: AHL Forward + AHL Dman + $2 mil of Provorov's salary for 2 years
Leaving LA: 2nd Rd prospect + 3rd pair D + AHL goalie + 2nd Rd pick

Seems like LA paid to hurt themselves

Wondering if he was throwing his voice to from AZ to the Tampa Bay via some jedi mind trick....

From https://www.nhl.com/player/tony-deangelo-8477950?stats=gamelogs-r-nhl&season=null

Tony DeAngelo Bio

DeAngelo was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round (No. 19) in the 2014 NHL Draft after he led all Ontario Hockey League defensemen with 71 points (15 goals, 56 assists) for Sarnia in 2013-14. DeAngelo signed a three-year, entry-level contract on Dec. 2, 2014.

On Jan. 8, 2015, Sarnia traded him to Sault Ste. Marie, where he finished the season with 89 points (25 goals, 64 assists), again leading all defensemen in the OHL. He won the award for top defenseman in the OHL (Max Kaminsky Trophy) and the Canadian Hockey League (Superstore Defenseman of the Year).

DeAngelo spent his first pro season with Syracuse of the American Hockey League in 2015-16, finishing with 43 points (six goals, 37 assists) in 69 games.

At the 2016 NHL Draft, he was acquired by the Arizona Coyotes in a trade with the Lightning. He began the season with Tucson of the AHL but was recalled by the Coyotes on Nov. 7, 2016 and made his NHL debut the following night, scoring his first NHL goal in a 4-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche.

DeAngelo had 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 39 games for Arizona, but was acquired by the New York Rangers along with the No. 7 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft for forward Derek Stepan and goalie Antti Raanta on June 23, 2017. DeAngelo split the 2017-18 season between the Rangers and Hartford of the AHL. He had eight points, all assists, in 32 games with New York before missing the final 12 games with an ankle injury.

DeAngelo had his first NHL hat trick and scored five points in a 6-3 win against the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 9, 2020.

DeAngelo was waived by the Rangers on Feb. 1, 2021, and after clearing waivers was assigned to the taxi squad. The Rangers bought out the final year of his contract July 24, 2021, and he signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes four days later.

DeAngelo had a career high 41 assists with the Hurricanes in the 2021-2022 season and in 14 playoff games had 10 points (one goal, nine assists).

On July 8, 2022, DeAngelo was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers and signed a two-year, $5 million contract three days later.

NOTES & TRANSACTIONS

  • OHL First All-Star Team (2015)
  • Traded to Arizona by Tampa Bay for Arizona's 2nd round pick (Libor Hajek) in 2016 NHL Draft, June 25, 2016.
  • Traded to NY Rangers by Arizona with Arizona's 1st round pick (Lias Andersson) in 2017 NHL Draft for Derek Stepan and Antti Raanta, June 23, 2017.
  • Signed as a free agent by Carolina, July 28, 2021.
  • Traded to Philadelphia by Carolina with a 7th-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft for a 4th-round pick in 2022, 3rd-round pick in 2023 and 2nd-round pick in 2024, July 8, 2022.

Now I'm curious to know if:

A. @diehardredwingsfan58 just hates TDA because *reasons* and is dumbly making stuff up to justify it

or

B. @diehardredwingsfan58 actually heard slurs from the Bolts bench, and is dumbly mis-attributing them to TDA

Either way, this thread is about to be fun again.
The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last...

I always find it funny when a crappy journeyman gets romanced.

Chiasson is a pleasant surprise, but not anyone you re-up. Kamper was great in GR. We game him away for free. SY will drop Chiasson and position us for something better.

I'm not "romancing" anyone. I hate that we're even talking about Alex Chiasson in the year 2023 - half a decade into this infernal rebuild. But, like I said, special teams are going to be huge for us - and Chiasson was really good for our power play.

If SY thinks there's a better option, sign me up. But at the same time, I see zero downside in bringing Chiasson back as an extra and veteran locker room guy for a year. It's not like he'd be taking a spot that'd otherwise be Kasper's.

Chiasson played good for 52 minutes in 20 games. Do the math.

This is a 33 year old forward that spent most of the year in the AHL.  We needed him as a depth call up after the trade deadline, and nothing more. Yes he played decently within a limited aspect of the game during that callup, but nothing more. You guys are 100% romancing this player, because you're acting as if our PP could really use/need these player.

This is not Tomas Holmstrom. This is Alex Chiasson. There's a variety of better options for a PP specialist on the open market. THIS IS NOT A PP SPECIALIST THIS IS AN AHLER.

If he wants to re-sign for league min for 1 year and play in the AHL, great, if we need a guy for that. Otherwise, he's literally THE FIRST player out the door.

I had to give this same talk to @F.Michael a few years ago when he was insistent on re-signing Troy Stetcher. Stetcher is worthless. Chiasson is worthless. Shame on @kipwinger for even bringing it up.

There's multiple other players worth discussing bringing back, Chiasson isn't one of them.

Yah, it's different when your current 3C is Igor Larionov.  Then even Datsyuk has a hard time getting time at center ice.  When your 3C is Joe Veleno, you play Kasper instead.

Id play Andrej Nestrasil at 4C over Joe

Chiasson as a 13th F on a 2 way contract is not "romancing" a player.

They would like to retain Chiasson on a two-way contact, but he likely will see if he can get a one-way deal from another organization.

Two-way aka AHL call up. No one is signing this guy to work an NHL PP fulltime.

Whoa, you’re blowing my mind!?! You mean to tell me that a 13th forward might be on a 2 way deal? That’s unheard of!

You are a f*cking genius. I’m in awe.

He wont be 13th forward on a 2way deal. He wont even be on the roster most of the season.

Mind blown yet?
