Speaking of numbers, can anyone shed some light on this Datsyuk pic? He never played in the AHL and always wore 13...as far as I knew.20230719_205742.thumb.jpg.e3d47ef6fb1923d32b4ca3a091871163.jpg

.

He wore 56 his first call up after Larry Murphy roomed with him while on a road trip.  Pavs initially thought Murphs was cool, but saw his diet and told Larry he would rather watch cows deficate than watch Larry eat.  He then changed his number to 13 after he saw Brendan Shanahan fingering Larry Murphy's wife under the hotel bar while heading to the gym for a midnight workout.  They both winked at each other and Pavs knew Shanny was the man.

When Simon was still in SHL I suggested in one of our threads, or maybe on Twitter than he should wear 77 since he couldnt wear 7. Awesome!

Also with Kostin wearing 24, he better throw some fists around!

Holl really stole Eddogs number lmao. What a tool.

77 is pretty sic though, I'll allow it.

Don't understand why Bergs chose 48. That is a not based number for a forward. And hopefully 32 is just an initial call up number for Mazur.

Daniel Sprong chose 88. That's based and goal pilled. Kid is gonna pop bottles.

Ok, figured out Dats' #56. He wore it during 2001 training camp, then obviously switched to 13 to start the season. Here's a list of players at 2001 camp. Pavel is #56 and there's no #13.

And here shows that he was not at the 2000 camp.

Back on topic of the off-season.

McIsaac nor Veleno have wiaver exemptions left. Veleno was always going to be in Detroit, but McIsaac is an interesting story. If you doesn't make the club, does Yzerman risk waiving him to GR? Does someone pick him up considering he is young, his potential and small salary? I'm not for losing someone for nothing unless they've already proven they aren't going to make it basically or am just tired of the ineptness, ie. Zadina.

With this current D Corps, plus the prospects who are ranked ahead of him, it's gonna be a hard task to make the club. Hopefully Yzerman has a trade ready soon. I'd hate to lose him for zilch.

There's something that confuses me.  Matt luff wore 22 last season.  He was re-signed, and yet shai buium was given 22 for development camp.

I think that was just Development Camp since Luff obviously would not be there. I guess we'll see when Training Camp Rosters are sent out!

BTW, I wonder who this years invitees will be? Always have to root for an underdog to get a contract! Also, I wonder if there will be any PTO's?

McIsaac prolly gets waived and goes unclaimed.

McIsaac's contract is two-way. He doesn't need to be waived to be sent down.

That is not what two-way means. Two-Way means he gets paid an amount in the NHL and a lower amount in the AHL. A one-way contract is just that, he would get paid the same in the NHL or AHL. He is out of waiver exemptions due to his length of since he signed his 1st professional contract. He has played 5 pro seasons. He requires waivers to be sent down.

Two-Way Contract:

See his Total Salary $787,500(NHL Salary) and his Minors Salary is $70,000.

When you look at Andrew Copp, One-Way contract, you see his Total Salary and his Minors Salary is the same each year:

Why be reincarnated as a dumb lady when you can comeback as something cool like heavy machinery or a gun?

Thoughts?

It hard to argue against it. Hughes basically hit 100 pts as a 21 year old C this year. And he actually WAS drafted 1st overall. But there's a sharp drop off after Seider. Seider is wayyyyyyyyyy closer to overtaking Hughes than Caufield is to even whiffing Mo's 2 spot. In many drafts Seider would go #1.
