    1) It's moreso out of boredom than really "being down". 2)You do not really have legit beef. This Website Owes or Promises you nothing. You do not pay for anything. Your sense of entitlement is hilarious. 3)Once again you act as if age is relevant to this situation, when it is not at all. 4) The reason you were upset was a poll about how people you will never meet and have no ability to influence an outcome on the subject felt about it. Seeing as there was already a thread that was essentially discusing the exact same thing, I just found your anger comical. Edit: OH NO GUYS HE KEEPS NEGGING ME! NOT MY INTERNET REPUTATION...

Who wants to bet "Detroit Sucks" is chanted during the rising of the banner? ******* awesome fans in Chicago, awesome. Cheer for your goddamn team and get over the obsession with Detroit.

Sign him up. I love Modano. He's given his best years to Dallas, but he's probably got something left, and he'd certainly bring intangibles to the ice. If he won a Cup with the Wings, he would have a legitimate Cup with his name on it, too. Bonus!

Plus/minus can be such a tricky stat. It's interpreted so many different ways. While I agree with a lot of what you've said here, I feel compelled to respond to your mention of Brett Lebda. What wouldn't surprise you, is that Lebda was Jonathan Ericsson's most common partner 5-on-5 last season, playing over 326 minutes together overall. However, during that time they were only minus-1 together. Compare that with Ericsson's time on the ice with Brad Stuart and you get a much different picture. While paired with Stu for only 126 minutes during the season, they were a truly horrendous minus-12. This isn't a damnation of Brad Stuart, I just mention this because I think it more clearly displays the possible reason behind Ericsson's poor +/- during the season -- he just couldn't step up and play against top-6 forwards. This I do find at least a little concerning. After the Red Wings' saw the return of many of their injured players, Ericsson's +/- improved. I don't think that had anything to do with Lebda though. In that late part of the season, Lilja became Ericsson's partner and together they were plus-1 in 166 minutes together. A rusty Lilja wasn't much of an upgrade over Brett Lebda, in my humble opinion. The statistical improvement Ericsson saw seems to be a product of the Red Wings' increased success and the reduced responsibility he was given. Back to my conern, I do find it a little troublesome that whenever a more challenging assignment was bestowed upon JE, for the most part, he failed. He'll need to be able to answer those challenges soon, or it's doubtful he'll be that oppressive top-4 defenseman many Wings' fans hoped he would become. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there. In case you're wondering where all this came from, all stats can be found at my blog, Word on a Wing

I keep coming in here, hoping to see some more videos, or updates to this thread that are relevant and yet, all I see are 3 pages of bickering. I think it's time for a mod to lock this thread and put an end to this already...

No. Abner Detroit. He has a shoe-shine stand in Milwaukee. He's making the trip down to see the banner raised. Look for the guy in the cheesehead with really shiny shoes. As far as the opener goes: Why not Analheim? Might as well start with them. At least it should be better than the last couple of years. St. Louis (if you count Sweden as "home") and Toronto. Talk about embarassing. At least for the Ducks we bring our A game. And as much as I hate them, I do love the Stache and I would do obscene things to get Getzlaf in a Wings jersey.

    Annoying Fan Stories

I doubt we'll see horns etc. allowed soon in a closed arena for NHL or NBA games, but vuvuzelas/horns are part of the fan experience for a lot of international soccer matches and locations and have been for a long while, so don't know what to tell ya there... EDIT: Now that I think about it, Sacramento when they were good and consistently made the playoffs in the NBA recently, fans bought cowbells for noisemakers when the other team shot free throws and stuff. Nashville fans have whistles for the Tootoo thingy. Neither bother me because it's part of the fan experiences there and they aren't hurting anybody so... And I've been to a game in Nashville before, experience and atmosphere and Nashville area were great. As long as you don't throw any projectiles or drinks at me when I'm not doing anything to provoke you or threaten me or ruin the fan experience of others (i.e. cursing obnoxiously over and over again with kids around, etc.) or whatever, I don't give a damn what fans do. Every team is going to have their bad apple fans so unless it's just something really out of whack, it's just something I don't go out of my way to worry about or get upset about really.

I retract my post after seeing Modo's stats over the past 5 years. Although he could help on the PP, the Wings PP is already awesome. Don't know if he's worth tying up a roster spot for.

If he comes to us for free, like say an internship, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

They didn't beat us to get there. It's just another game as far as the Red Wings are concerned. Our job is to win, and hopefully we will. Let them raise their banner -- they earned it. If we win it this upcoming season, return the favor and have the Hawks come to town for that.

They didn't beat us in the playoffs so it really doesn't chap my ass any more to have them raise it against us. If we had to watch Pittsburgh raise theirs last year I would've been pissed. (maybe we did and I just blocked it out of my mind)

Huh? Third line center with talented wings, maybe some PP time. I will take that in a heartbeat.

Seems like I was reading that same stuff about Dallas Drake on here and he played his ass off for the Wings and helped us win a Cup. Why? Partly because he added great chemistry. I think Modano would do the same.

Flip and Hudler are both good offensive players in different ways. Jiri has better vision, and in fact is a tremendous playmaker that I think is second to only Datsyuk on the team. He didn't win any genetic lottery which is why he does his best work on the power play where size and speed aren't an issue. He is much more decisive with the puck and a better shooter than Flip. Flip is a very good skater and that's why he is successful at even strength where he can do work in transition. This year's playoffs are a good example of that -- please recall him winning a footrace to the puck from Bert's aerial alley-oop to beat Bryz on a breakaway in Game 2, or how he used his speed to beat Keith Yandle to the outside and get off a shot in Game 7 that Bert collected the rebound on and scored. These are plays Hudler could never hope to make. Both are top six material but have happened to play on a deep team that has always had better options at their positions.

"Shakes Head" I dont know how many times this has been brought up, and every time someone tries to make the argument that Hudler is better than Filppula, their argument gets blown to shreds. 07-08 Even strength points Filppula, 11 goals 25 assists 36 points, 80 games Hudler, 17 goals, 12 assists, 29 points, 82 games Flips stats for 09-10, 35 points, 55 games = 52 point pace Also, Flip is much, much better defensively. Im glad to have Hudler back but it isnt even close guys. Theres a reason Flip is paid more than Hudler, and it will come more clear for everyone next season.

I just wanna add that he averaged over 2 minutes of PK time per game last season, 108 PIMS(not bad) 10 of which were majors so he wasn't really hurting the team, he scored 5 PP goals in his 13 goal season, and wont likely be resigned by St Louis. The season he scored 13 goals he had over 10 minutes toi per game and 9 last year which is pretty good for a pretty tough guy. He played over a minute per game on the PP as well so he can be a valuable player.

I'm not talking about just this loss. Franklin has lost 3 of his last 6 fights. Yeah sure he can still be an MMA fighter. But in terms of thinking of him as a champ? HE'S DONE. He will never hold a championship belt again.
