Ok, the reason we are ALL lucky to be Wings fans? Just go over to wikipedia and look at the all time roster, heck even if you go back to 1980 and look up to todays roster, just look at ALL the superstars and Current and Future HOF players and coachs/execs that have ever been part of this organization. Look at where they've been, where they went on to be. Coachs and GM's like Colin Campbell, Neil Smith, Jimmy D, Bryan Murray, Scotty & Holland. Three of perhaps the greatest Russians to ever grace the NHL (and Red Army) Fetisov, Larionov & Fedorov. Perhaps the best ever Swedish player in Lidstrom, but not forgetting one of the first ever Euro's to conquer a brave new world, Borje Salming. Even Looking back to Coffey, Ciccarelli, Hull, Robitaille, Murphy, Mickey Redmond (the first ever Wing to score 50 goals) Chris Chelios, Hasak, Shanahan, Yzerman, Wendel Clark, Foligno, Johnny O, Harold Snepsts, the list goes on! Even some players that came here after a super career and didn't quite work out (Federko, Hatcher, Carson) we have been graced in Hockeytown with the royalty of Hockey. There is no doubt that this team is one of, if not THE best franchise in the history of hockey. Man, all those stars, its no wonder we act spoiled sometimes, eh? I know I didn't even mention the golden age players of Howe, Abel & the gang, just the ones I have watched... What a Franchise!

saw this photo on nhl.com and it made me think about how much the wings have changed since I was a kid. If you went up to a 12 year old me and said that 10 years from now Yzerman and Bowman would be working with different organizations and Fedorov would be playing in Russia i would have called you a liar and punched you in the junk. Now that im getting older and understand that people have their reasons for leaving the organization I'am able to be content with it, but still the fact that my childhood heroes are leaving the organization makes me realize that i'am getting older and to not take players like Datsyuk and Zetterberg for granted.

Yeah, been hearing this one for quite some time and wouldn't even doubt if it happens. There will be a shared arena down the road here which I hate. I don't mind the Pistons downtown one bit but I really truly think the Wings need their own, updated, Olympia looking hockey barn. Old time team needs their own old time arena again.

I'm of the thinking that if a goalie wants to sit on the puck behind the net like alot of them do and use their big pads to block out the players then they should be fair game for a check just like any other player on the team. Yeah they wear big pads and its hard for them to move out of the way so don't go behind the net to stop the puck and sit on it like a goose that layed an egg. But thats just me. My opinion.

Hey cmon, I'm Finnish and even I think Hudler has more offensive potential at the NHL level than Filppula.

Jimmy is primarily the guy that has got to get better and could be a bigger difference maker if he does, but overall they were okay in the playoffs. A bounce here or there (or 5-on-3, or broken stick...) and things might be different. That's how it goes; win some, lose some. There's no need to blow up the team just because they couldn't manage to reach the Cup Finals for a third consecutive year. Those are unrealistic expectations no matter how you look at it.

Any team with Kirk Maltby on it is good enough to win the Stanley Cup.

    Cheechoo Placed on Waivers

I'd rather have Miller or Eaves who were much, much, much more effective players than him last year.

    Cheechoo Placed on Waivers

Cheechoo would be nice but it would have to be around $2-$2.5 mil. I think if he played with Zett it would be good, then stick Franzen with Dats. I could see him getting alot of energy knowing he has a chance at a cup and playing with a team he wants to be on (if we wants to come to Detroit).

Ahem. Yeah, yeah, I know it was only once, but come on, was that not the best thing ever? Also, I like Abdelkader for his fire, and I liked Miller's penalty box trash talking during the Coyotes series. I think Ericsson needs to step it up a little, but he has potential.

Absolutely. Right after Steve comes out of retirement and slaps the Winged Wheel back on. It'll be any day now.

What is it why you're a fan of this team?

Considering I've been a Detroit Lions fan my whole life, I don't know if after what the Wings have done the past 20 years there could be something so awful that I'd not be a fan.

I'm pretty sure I'd be a fan forever, no matter what happened. They could move to Little Rock and be the worst team in the league and I'd still love them. I think, anyway..

Fail my friend. Yes my avatar is for him so yes, slappy over here but not even close to a "depth call-up kid". He has moved way past that. So you should too.

I couldn't find the "our powerplay" option under the "who is the best fighter" poll...

Nobody thinks that. You overdramatize everything regarding Hudler. Nobody thinks he is the second coming of Jesus, and we get that you hate them. We understood this a long time ago. The only person making a giant soap opera about Hudler is you, nobody else. And it is absolutely aggravating after the 500th time that you've done it. Your posts regarding him are dead weight, so there's no need to talk about him. Anyways, the Wings are good enough to win the Cup.

Datsyuk finds your lack of signature space disturbing.

Agreed. The only concern with this is that arbitration or an offer sheet (one that we will match) will drive the price up. Say, for the sake of an example (even though it is a very unrealistic example) that we offer Helm $500,000, and Columbus offers him a $1 mil offer sheet. We match. Now we are paying $1 mil for what Holland deems to be a $500,000 player. Not good. However, I'm not even sure what I am trying to prove here, other than to say, I hope we get them signed soon.

    Sakic vs Yzerman Debate

Meh, that was nice, but that wouldn't even make Stevie Y's top 10. Since so many have been quoting stats to make their arguments, I decided to look at their numbers on a per-season basis rather than their whole career and here's what I found: Yzerman and Sakic both had 6 100-point seasons, look at the difference Yzerman: 155, 137, 127, 108, 103, 102 Sakic: 120, 118, 109, 105, 102, 100 As someone else pointed out, only 2 players have ever recorded more points in a single season than Yzerman's 155. Top 5 goal totals Yzerman: 65, 62, 58, 51, 45 Sakic: 54, 51, 48, 48, 41 Again, advantage Yzerman. Basically, what it boils down to is that Yzerman had the higher peak, while Sakic's peak lasted longer. You can attribute Yzerman's "decline" to a combination of injury and coaching style, but for a long time he was the only good player on his team, whereas Sakic had a better supporting cast for longer. From a purely objective view, the slight advantage goes to Yzerman, but as a Wings fan and more importantly as someone who grew up idolizing him, there is no contest, Yzerman hands down.
