Looking at the title I thought this was a thread suggesting that the Red Wings trade for Cal Clutterbuck.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/07/red_wings_touch_base_with_kirk.html I really hope they sign all of these guys even Maltby because the guy is still a warrior, he's got heart and he's still a force along the boards. what do you guys think about the article. oh and 1.25 for modano is about right for one year and for the talent the guy still has.

Fleury is far too inconsistent to be considered an elite goaltender, even their fans would support that.

You're kidding yourself if you think that fighting is not important in the sport of hockey. That's like saying tall players aren't important in basketball.

We can speculate all we want, but I could post reason after reason as to why Kenny would try to hang onto both E and Kindl given a veteran 5/6th Dman is brought in. It's just as likely that Kindl's potential isn't something Kenny and Co. want to move at this point. While not ideal, Babs could run a revolving door on the 5-6 pairing amongst those three (E, Kindl, Veteran UFA) to help get Kindl acclimated and keep the team competitive. Besides, having a light work-load next year isn't exactly going to kill E or Kindl. Meech doesn't have the upside Kindl does and both Lidstrom and Rafalski are nearing the ends of their careers, which makes retaining someone as young and with more potential than Meech necessary. Meech's contract is more attractive to teams fighting the salary cap next season and there's less risk given the one-year deal. Shall I continue? The list goes on and on, and its not as simple as just, Kindl will get "MUCH" more in a trade. The Wings brass may not be looking for getting the most out of a trade, rather hanging onto what they consider potential pieces of the puzzle for the future. Meech likely isn't one of them. E more likely, and Kindl even moreso, are.

Jimmy cracks top 10 goalies in NHL

People need to realize Marty is past his prime and no longer a elite Goaltender. IMO there are a lot of overrated goalies currently in the NHL. Luongo and Fluery being the biggest.

It seems pretty obvious to me that Hossa'a slide is much worse than Datsyuk's slide. Doesn't mean that you have to agree. Personally, I'm glad Hossa isn't on the Wings. Despite your repeated attempts to make them equal. As far as I'm concerned, he was paid way too much to get knocked on his ass repeatedly. Again, you don't have to agree. Maybe a multi-million dollar, back-checking mercenary is worth as much as homegrown magician to you. Free country. But I wonder which player would impact the Wings more by being out of the lineup? Pretty sure you know the answer to that. When's the last time Datsyuk almost cost his team a very important (basically life and death) playoff game with a selfish decision?

Dan Cleary working way back from surgery

Apparently you're completely ignoring my statistics. I guess facts aren't sufficient to deflect you from your need to whine. I'll list them for you again, just in case you missed them: It's extremely rare for a hockey player to play 82 games in a season. Cleary has missed 59 games over five seasons; this puts him at an average of 70 games per season, which is, at worst, average amongst players in the NHL. Two of the games he missed in '05-'06 were due to flu; proneness to injury had nothing to do with this. All 19 of the games he missed in '07-'08 were due to having his jaw shattered by a puck while screening the goalie; proneness to injury had nothing to do with this. All eight games he missed in '09-'10 were due to an injury to his left eye; proneness to injury had nothing to do with this. The total sum of games missed by Cleary due to standard hockey injury over the last five years is thus 30 rather than 59; this places him at only six games missed to standard injury per season over the last five seasons, which in turn classifies him as an exceptionally durable hockey player. Would anyone like to place odds on the possibility that NothingButCrosby ignores part or all of my last two responses to him?

This would go along way in Ericsson getting some slack from fans, and perhaps a little more confidence for himself. He's about 6'4, 220lbs. Clear the net man, you're a beast!

Everyone else gets physical in the playoffs on the team as well. Its basically your duty as a hockey player. As for that hit, yeah it hurt Crosby but he also just rubbed him out and it awkwardly twisted Sid up. For every hit Mule lays there is a time he lets up where I'm yelling at the TV about how his 6'3 220lb body could've crushed someone.

We've got the ice tonight, 8-9, 3rd floor.

I'd be better than most of them. But enough about me... *Edit before I get the obligatory "OMFG YOU'RE SO FULL OF YOURSELF YOU ONLY PLAYED JUNIORS YOU CONCEITED DOUCHEBAG" reply, I'm being caustically sarcastic. I really do think I would be one of the better players, but the amount others claim I hype myself up is beyond ridiculous.

Oddly enough there is some talent on LGW. We should create a league and play against other forum's teams.
