Looking at the title I thought this was a thread suggesting that the Red Wings trade for Cal Clutterbuck.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/07/red_wings_touch_base_with_kirk.html I really hope they sign all of these guys even Maltby because the guy is still a warrior, he's got heart and he's still a force along the boards. what do you guys think about the article. oh and 1.25 for modano is about right for one year and for the talent the guy still has.

Hopefully they lose Sharp.Hopefully Niemi gets awarded so much to the point where they lose him too and are forced to call up Blagojovich or Oprah to play goalie.

Fleury is far too inconsistent to be considered an elite goaltender, even their fans would support that.

You're kidding yourself if you think that fighting is not important in the sport of hockey. That's like saying tall players aren't important in basketball.

We can speculate all we want, but I could post reason after reason as to why Kenny would try to hang onto both E and Kindl given a veteran 5/6th Dman is brought in. It's just as likely that Kindl's potential isn't something Kenny and Co. want to move at this point. While not ideal, Babs could run a revolving door on the 5-6 pairing amongst those three (E, Kindl, Veteran UFA) to help get Kindl acclimated and keep the team competitive. Besides, having a light work-load next year isn't exactly going to kill E or Kindl. Meech doesn't have the upside Kindl does and both Lidstrom and Rafalski are nearing the ends of their careers, which makes retaining someone as young and with more potential than Meech necessary. Meech's contract is more attractive to teams fighting the salary cap next season and there's less risk given the one-year deal. Shall I continue? The list goes on and on, and its not as simple as just, Kindl will get "MUCH" more in a trade. The Wings brass may not be looking for getting the most out of a trade, rather hanging onto what they consider potential pieces of the puzzle for the future. Meech likely isn't one of them. E more likely, and Kindl even moreso, are.

    Red Wings Archived Games Index

The following are archives for Wings games that will open in a new flash player window. These are not hosted by me, but the NHL and streamed on demand by their servers. I figure I'd share these while it's still possible, so sometime in the future be it in weeks, months or seasons they will cease to work....so watch them while you can. I will be updating this post as the season goes on; new games tend to be up anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours after they've been played before they become archives. I will also be adding posts in this thread of past playoffs and seasons, so eventually nearly every Wings game through the 07/08 season will be posted. Again I don't know how long this will last. Due to this being a long list I'm generating in excel there could be some errors, or the rare chance there is no archive of the game. Just ask me to look at a certain game should you find one not working and I'll look into it. I'm not sure of the best way to lay this out, so I'm just doing a simple list. If you have any suggestions, please share. Red Wings Archives of the 2010 Playoffs No longer updating this list, moved to my site....see my profile. Red Wings Archives of the 09/10 Season No longer updating this list, moved to my site....see my profile.

    Philadelphia's cap issues

He makes 1.1 which I don't think is too much for him. It looks to me like they have to move a bottom 6 player and a top 6. It may not be Carcillo, but Lapperriere was a beast for them and CArcillo got scratched near the end there, he also has a cheap contract so maybe they plan on moving him? Theyre 2.5 mil over the cap now. Maybe even Riley Cote would be moved.Wouldn't mind trading for him, put him in GR or the press box and use him when the going gets tough. He has a really cheap contract.

This is serious s**t people where we always have to put other people down and call them STOOOOPID and tell everybody OMFG STEAM ROXORZ THE BIG ONE1111! Remember? And remember this, I am the 302nd person that is suggesting a trade for Cleary. Oh yeah, there are those no trade clause thingies!!! *shrugs* I don't know what I just typed here. I'm a weird and strange person.

Dan Cleary working way back from surgery

You yet again ignored my first post. You said he had played 65 games or less in each of the last two seasons. You were wrong. As for your mix-up in years for Cleary's jaw injury, I can only attribute this to the very likely possibility that you don't actually watch the Red Wings play on any sort of regular basis. You mentioned his jaw injury in the following category (quoted): "Signs of age let's see first, I said damaged goods not having to do with age itself, but having to do with wear on the body." Feel free to give me some examples of careers significantly altered by minor groin injuries. I'll laugh at you if you're attempting to compare Hasek's notoriously-weak groin to that of Cleary... and I'm certainly going to laugh at you for completely missing on the fact that Hasek---as a goalie, and indeed quite possibly the most flexible goalie in NHL history---makes far, far different use of his groin and body on than does Cleary or any other skater in the league. Nice try. With the menisci, function often returns to normal after treatment. And no, standard arthroscopy of the knee does not necessarily cause any significant lasting loss of function. A tremendous number of NHL players have had minor knee injuries and have suffered little or nothing in the way of loss of performance. You know this. I'll most certainly say that he was injured, as he was playing on an injury that made it difficult for him to even navigate stairs. What puzzles me is what you can't accept about this. So the guy opted to tough it out, rather than have surgery and miss a huge portion of the season. How is it that you dislike this? Dion Phaneuf called Cleary's hit clean, and the Flames as a whole made no fuss about the hit. This has been pointed out to you more than once already. ---- Can't find any articles on this to go either way so it's moot. Cleary is one of the most complete players on the team. He accomplishes a whole lot with his ice time. Cleary? Slow? Do you really ever watch him play? Yup, Cleary isn't as good as Zetterberg or Datsyuk, though he plays more physically than either; he's far more capable than Eaves; and as great as Lidstrom, Rafalski and Filppula are, they are not physical by any stretch of the imagination. Note "complete". Feel free to make those comparisons. As for Backes, he only recently began scoring consistently; he'll get paid.

    Sharks sign RFA Niklas Hjalmarsson

It doesn't take a genius a simply watch both players and see that Datsyuk is the more reliable player. Numbers aside, Datsyuk is simply better in almost every category. Especially in the playoffs. Hossa is on is ass swimming 10X more than Datsyuk. Accusing people of being "jilted-lover-cry-ass-Penguin-fans" just because they acknowledge that Datsyuk is obviously the better playoff performer in recent years is silly. It just makes you sound like a jilted-cry-ass-Hossa-fan.

This would go along way in Ericsson getting some slack from fans, and perhaps a little more confidence for himself. He's about 6'4, 220lbs. Clear the net man, you're a beast!

Brad May and his 7 minutes per night did help this team to not get bullied. Mike Babcock noticed it durring May's tryout and that's why he was signed. The Brad May insurance policy was kept in the lineup until every game became critical (due to numerous losses when the team was injured) and it became worth the risk to sit him out. October and November games are not worth that risk. Mr Nill also seems to disagree with you and believe that individual players do make a difference in toughness. He seems to identify toughness as a weakness on the current squad (rightfully so, I think) and states that a guy willing to crash, bang and fight will help address that.

Whenever someone like you brings up how useless enforcers are they use the crappy guys the wings have had in the past as an example. May fought and did good and all but he was old, past his fighting prime and slowing down. A Brad May in his prime would've been sweet. I for one would rather have our team next year then have May or Downey or Norton on it lol. The ppl who want tough players want more Dallas Drake type players or an actual good enforcer. May is not what ppl on here want but for some reason anti tough guy ppl always bring him up. A legit tough guy like Boll who is young and can still skate or Dallas Drake type players is what this team needs. Not the old washed up fighters Holland always brings in after camp. Yeah hes going after the all time leading scoring american to be our third line center. Yeah I think him as our 3rd line center is better then having a grinder but that doesn't mean grinders aren't important.

We've got the ice tonight, 8-9, 3rd floor.

I'd be better than most of them. But enough about me... *Edit before I get the obligatory "OMFG YOU'RE SO FULL OF YOURSELF YOU ONLY PLAYED JUNIORS YOU CONCEITED DOUCHEBAG" reply, I'm being caustically sarcastic. I really do think I would be one of the better players, but the amount others claim I hype myself up is beyond ridiculous.

Oddly enough there is some talent on LGW. We should create a league and play against other forum's teams.
