    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

I don't find it strange at all, I find it selfish, especially when in Detroit it has mostly been team before individual. Could he have made more money signing with Tampa or Atlanta or wherever? Sure. But smart players have chosen to stay with a superior league team that has proven success versus higher salary options for the simple result of making more money elsewhere. Does Hudler think he is more important than players such as Draper, Maltby, Modano, Chelios, (and the list goes on), because of 1 years worth of production on a team laden with talent? Dumb decision by him to leave regardless. Especially since he hasn't produced as of late. esteef

The fact that he went to the KHL for more money in the first place is the point yes? Instead of staying with the better team in the better league for "less" like other "loyal" players have done, he went to an inferior league where apparently his skills and work ethic have eroded somewhat. esteef

And yet, the hockey media constantly mentions Green as a Norris candidate. I don't get it.

Bertuzzi was here, chose to leave for greener pastures, bounced around and was lucky enough to be brought back...he has something to offer that we currently need (skill, size and strength)... Hudler wasn't as lucky, especially to the team that brought him in an gave him his chance. To me when Hudler defected he was Filpula's equal/competitor... now Fil has a progressed and has a home and Hudler needs to prove himself all over again and hasn't done it...and more so has serious competition that has shown him up (Abbie, Cleary, Eaves, even Miller)

This is easily the best organization in pro hockey and possibly in all of pro sports. Players in "decline" or "too old" or even "not living up to expectation" are brought to Detroit, treated like family, given an achievable role and flourish. From this a level of Player/Organizational loyalty has developed to the point that players want to stay here, take less money to stay here and do well by staying here... Yes, this re-hashed argument again! Hudler is the rare exception that has chosen to leave for "greener pastures" only to find he just left paradise... he does not have a place here anymore. He has not yet shown why we should keep him and bring him back into the family. The Leino example is perfect... Leino wouldn't be the same player here and flourished elsewhere, like Primeau-donna did. Hudler might also and he might bring us something we can utilize! I'd risk it!

I think you're getting confused That was Alexander Burmistrov of Atlanta, not Ovechkin. The Caps are in white in that video.

11/21 GDT: Flames 4 at Red Wings 5 (OT)

Wow, Great GDT! Really shows that you put a lot of work in it. I'm going with a 4-3 Victory for the Wings, though the score would indicate it being much closer than it actually is. I think Val and Huds are due for a big game.

    Patrick Eaves Watch Thread.

With the way he's been playing, they can NOT sit him anymore... the problem is, Miller doesn't deserve it with his play either... which leaves us back to.............. this board is gonna get ugly for Hudles if this keeps up

    Pat Burns has died

Condolences to the Burns family. Hockey lost a great one. I can only hope the HHoF feels shame for not giving Pat Burns his due before he hit the dirt. Shame on them.

Great pics! Those years with DMac, Drapes, Maltbs in their prime may have been the best years to be a Wings fan, and best years to go to a game! Someone from the 50's may not think so, but the team we had from 96-02 = Awesome! For the younger Wings fans, now's great too, but there was just something about that team.
