I personally think they should do away with East and West all together and go back to Campbell and Wales and have every team travel equally... you want real parity, that's how you do it... as for the moves, give Winnipeg their Jets back, move ATL to Quebec and call it a day... we can revisit what to do with that abortion of an idea of putting a hockey team on South Beach another day...

    Bill McCreary

I know we complain about the Referee's here alot. BUT! I think Bill McCreary deserves recognition. 1,737 career regular season games 297 Playoff games (record) 44 Stanley Cup Finals Games (record) With one of the best gone, we are in real trouble... Congratulations Bill, Thanks for everything!

4/3 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 4

Congrats to the Wings on clinching the Central Division yet again. 102 points and counting. Is it just me or does it feel like the Central title is back with it's rightful owner?

    Hmm something I noticed

Not by anyone who has a nuanced understanding of hockey. Bert's fights were important but so was the physical play of the team overall. Abby was hitting everyone in sight. O'Brien was right; Tootoo being out helped Detroit's cause. There wasn't as much of a deterrent. When you have tough guys, everyone on the bench grows an inch, as they say. Remember when Kronwall was laying monster hits all the time a few years ago? He had guys like Downey, Drake and Mac backing him up. Now those guys are gone, and how often do you see those big hits now? Having a roster full of goons is not the answer, but standing up for yourself and your teammates is essential. As I pointed out on the GDT, once Detroit started standing up for themselves, fighting, initiating contacting, laying the big hits and not taking an s*** after the whistle, etc., guys like Weber and Erat weren't running around anymore. It was a pretty uneventful 3rd period. All a team has to do is serve notice that they're not going to be pushed around and the bullies back off. It's frighteningly simple and obvious, but too many fans have their noses buried in fantasy hockey or something to appreciate the role that intimidation plays in the game.

Forward: Steven Stamkos: He is one of the best offensive forwards in the game. I thought about Crosby and Ovechkin but both of them are too high profile. I would prefer they stay where they have carved out identities, because of the smaller market Stamkos coming to the Wings doesn't seem as unnatural. I also thought about Skinner but he is still too unproven. Defense: Drew Doughty: This was a tough call, but his age and the ability to mold him into Lidstrom 2.0 while playing a year or two with him tipped the scale vs Weber. Goalie: Bryzgalov: I think he is as good as any goalie in the league and he knows what it takes to win from being on the Ducks team. He would be a great complement to Jimmy.

    Congratulations Red Wings!

So the closest options are the Ducks, Hawks and Preds? Ugh... How about a playoff bye?

Rosehill is an awful example coming off last nights game against Ottawa, the leafs have also almost managed to squeak into playoffs and are playing pretty good hockey since he has been in their line up. O'Brien has all of 3 fights before last nights game, and he is a solid defenseman as well. Using these guys as examples really makes me think you have no idea what youre talking about

    The 'delay of game' penalties..

No reviews, no challenges. I'd rather ditch the delay of game penalty entirely than sit there like the NFL (a bogged down league with too many stoppages and no decrease at all in ambiguity) with a ref seeing if it touched someone. No thanks.

    Bertuzzi vs O'Brien 1 & 2

I like the way Bert is playing going into the playoffs, he better be a physical beast when they come

    Bertuzzi vs O'Brien 1 & 2

For him to go twice like that I figure O'Brian was chirping him and said something that really got Bert's goat. All I know is that second fight was a turning point (along with the time out by Babs). Thanks Bert

Babcock and Cleary both said the fights ignited the team in their post-game interviews. Is that enough proof for you?

I'm sitting here with Puckloo eating dinner after enjoying that game live and in person! May I just say that watching Todd fight made my heart soar! Amazing comeback! Jimmy, we bow down before you. You played an amazing game!

    Coyotes or Thrashers to Winnipeg

I think it's wishful thinking to believe that the NHL would allow Detroit to move to the east, regardless of what happens with other franchises. The east already has four of the original six, and the top two non o6 teams from a marketing perspective (Caps and Pens). People talk today about the eastern conference bias -- moving Detroit would multiply that. As much as I'd like to see it, I sincerely doubt it'll happen. This is a business, after all.

    Kayleigh Lynn Anderson

Full disclosure: There is no Kayleigh Lynn Anderson. Her family members are fictional, as are her coach, school, and the dude that sells tickets for the Sens and his nephew. Happy April Fool's Day everyone. Thanks to those who played along (Call to Arms specifically) and, to the rest of you, GOTCHA!
