Adam Almqvist signed to 3 yr deal
SaCkaveli20 and 2 others reacted to Systemfel for a post in a topic
Nope, Almqvist is staying in Sweden for at least one more season. http://www.jnytt.se/nyhet/40542/adam-almqvist-helt-klar-for-detroit "Yes, I will be staying here. I want to spend at least one more year in the SEL so I can bulk up. I need to get stronger, add a few pounds, I've been working really hard at that. Both me and the Wings want me to remain here so I can develop even further. Then we'll see if I'm ready to head over." Btw, Almqvist's biggest problem isn't his lack of size, but rather his skating ability. Opposing forwards tend to catch up to him too easily, and put him under pressure. He's sort of like Hudler on D right now. -

Purely my opinion, but I wouldn't put basketball players on the same level as hockey players when it comes to athletic stamina. It's less physically demanding to play basketball than it is to play hockey. -

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
F.Michael reacted to LeftWinger for a post in a topic
That is fine because I would be perfectly happy with him re-signing Eaves/Miller/Lidstrom and then signing Wisniewski, Pitkanen and a reliable back up goalie. Do NOT re-sign Draper/Ericsson/Salei, trade Hudler for whatever he can bring... To me that would be a super off season... We all know any of the RFA's mentioned are pipe dreams because Holland loves to keep his draft picks now-a-days. I wouldn't be surprised though if he traded Hudler and our #1 to move up a bit if the player he wanted wasn't gonna make it to us... -

Question about Carcillo
13dangledangle reacted to Detroit # 1 Fan for a post in a topic
He could crack the Wings roster easily, but I wouldnt want him honestly. Dives, takes bad penalties, and is a smaller guy for what he tries to do. Speaking of Carcillo, the guy he was traded for, Scottie Upshall is a free agent. If we want a spark plug player with upside, it's him, not Carcillo. -

Well.... Vancouver and Chicago players talk the most crap on the ice! I personally believe that Chicago takes the cake, but I remember this video from a couple of years ago With Kesler and Burrows as well as Bieksa against the Blues. I agree with Trash talking and what not on the ice and I have no issue with it, however when you bring someones family into the trash talking, I do have a problem with it! Call each other a puss or pull your balls out or whatever, but when you brings someones wife into the frame, it's over the line! -

Not sure what people are negging you for other than fight part you had to throw in. Clowe, although a prick on the Sharks, would be welcomed with open arms no doubt. Now this said, it's great to hear about him getting what he deserved after asking Kronner to come after him; poetic justice at its finest. Best part of the hit is the audio where the players yell for him to look up and it was waaayyyy too late -

Why on earth do we need to draft a scoring winger? We have a bunch of quality forwards in our system already. We only have ZERO defensive dmen in our stable that look legit. -

Niedermayer retired because he wanted to spend more time with his family. Rafalski retired because his body was broken. Not a chance. -

If you want the skill of Drew Miller with the dumb penalties of Bertuzzi and Abdelkader combined, he'd be great for the Wings. -

Draft Talk
mjlegend reacted to LeftWinger for a post in a topic
ya, and only 1, ONE of those Cups were won with small skilled forwards. So take your head out of your other ear so you can hear. Oh, and on that Cup team, the two recently drafted forwards to actually contribute? Abdelkader and Helm, far from your small, skilled, soft player. Example of a player who was that way? Ritola, and he contributed himself right off the team. The list of small, soft players Holland has drafted goes on, and for the most part the have yet too, and may never make this team. I get the shakes when I think of this team when the grittiest player is Datsyuk. Image this line, Mursak - Hudler - Tatar. EEEEEEGAD! Listen, I don't claim to know as much as Holland, but as a fan of this team since 1979, I have seen the makeup change a few times, and right now, this team is FAR from winning another Cup, especially if they don't get bigger and tougher. I am not saying a team full of enforcers, but a team full of Hudler's and Mursak's isn't gonna win you a Cup. I just hope that Holland trends the way of Sheahan rather that the way of Hudler... edit: You Avatar says it all...unfortunately...Of course I can deal with Filppula as long as he plays on Datsyuk's wing. Holmstrom and Rafalski are here til the retire, Hudler...... Oh Father, Thou Art In Heaven, Please Tell Holland To Trade Hudler, Please.... -

Hudler's Future
F.Michael reacted to eva unit zero for a post in a topic
Ok, let's look this over. 1. If a player is really good at one thing, does that make him a superstar? No. 2. There are only a handful of players who are as good or better playmakers than Hudler. Perhaps Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Crosby, Thornton, D.Sedin, H.Sedin, Savard, Getzlaf, Toews, Kopitar, Koivu, Gomez, Spezza, Malkin, St.Louis, Backstrom. There might be one or two more I can't think of offhand, but that list should be pretty close. That's among forwards. In other words; Hudler is not a superstar, he's just a very good playmaker. Just as Franzen is not a superstar, he is just a very good sniper. -

Kris Draper
Aussie_Wing reacted to HankthaTank for a post in a topic
This will insight a war of all wars but basically he brought something around a 2.875 million contract Hudler brought but ya know, more energy, FOW%, and actually hitting players. But again, let's keep shooting from the hip that Draper is "too old" and has to let it go.
