Those guys are a little late to the party but I don't need credit. How many gifs come with credit anyway? It's not like Rembrandt made Raptor Jesus or da Vinci made the dancing banana gif. I say the more people who see what a diver that guy is, the better .

Stuart is replaceable, but you don't need to replace Stuart if you already have Stuart. Plus he has the advantage of having been here a long time and knowing how everything works, so it would make sense for Kenny to try and re-sign him next year.

Bourdon and Burrows were very close. When Burrows does that archer thing after a big goal that's in memory of Luc. For awhile there it seemed like tragedy was following members of the Canucks. Less than a year after Bourdon was killed Taylor Pyatt's fiance was also killed in an accident.

Three years ago today. Luc Bourdon (February 16, 1987 – May 29, 2008) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL) and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, from 2006 until 2008. After overcoming childhood arthritis, he was selected third overall in the 2003 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) draft and played for the Val-d'Or Foreurs, Moncton Wildcats, and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, spending four seasons in the QMJHL. The Canucks drafted Bourdon with their first selection, tenth overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Noted as a strong defenceman who could contribute on offence, Bourdon represented Canada in three international tournaments, winning two gold medals at the IIHF World U20 Championship and a silver medal at the IIHF World U18 Championship. Bourdon died at the age of 21 near his hometown of Shippagan, New Brunswick, when his motorcycle collided with a tractor trailer. Bourdon was killed instantly in a motorcycle collision in Lamèque, New Brunswick, near his hometown of Shippagan on May 29, 2008, when he hit a tractor-trailer after losing control of his 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and crossing the centre line. Environment Canada showed winds gusting to more than 50 km/h (31 mph) in the area at the time of the accident. The RCMP stated that Bourdon's inexperience with motorcycles may have been a factor in the crash. From Wikipedia

It wasn't enough to fire the guy? We had to ship him to Russia?

That was a game where the Canucks out-hit the Bruins nearly into oblivion but lost 3-1 (empty netter). It was also around the time when the Canucks defence was so beat up that they were down to about the number 14 defenceman on the depth charts. Even the call-up replacements for the injured top 6 were getting injured. That game is not a very valid comparison to draw any conclusions from, other than that the Canucks defence is incredibly deep considering they continued to play better than .500 hockey through that time. An orca is not a fish. If a bear ever tried to eat an orca it would be taken back into the food chain and converted into a brown slick on the ocean within about 24 hours.

Still have some Sammy love going on here. Would like to see the Ugliest Swede Line (even if they're not playing together, I like calling them that) raise the Cup. Definitely feel for them not having won in 40 years. I picked them at the beginning of the playoffs as my team to root for should evil things happen to the Wings. Not the same as picking them to win, so I'm pleased that they've come this far. Canuckleheads in 6. Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Honestly I don't care much who wins. Boston maybe? I'll probably watch the first couple games and hope that the tone is set from the Eastern conference finals. If Vancouver brings the dive-fest they had with San Jose into the finals, I don't think I can stomach it. Especially if the refs follow suit and call the games as horribly as they did in the WCF.

Really, REALLY hate vancouver but love Boston! Not sure how this series is going to pan out, but if feb. 26. 2011 is any indication Ill be a happy man! PS-The NHL's schedule is ******* retarded and the fact great teams dont play sustains it.

Go Boston! I want to see Tim Thomas lift the Cup.

The semi-pro league jerseys shouldn't count. They're often designed to be obnoxious and attention grabbing simply for the headlines and interest generated. The real train wrecks are the NHL jerseys that someone actually green lit (I'm looking at you every-jersey-Anaheim's-ever-worn).

I kind of like those old yellow Kings jerseys. That mustard colored "Snaggletooth" Preds 3rd jersey is just hideous. Seriously who approves these? And thanks for sharing, that was pretty funny.

Smith to be on Wings next season?

McKenzie was talking about Ericsson's play in that playoff series when he said that. I doubt he watches a lot of GR games. I don't see how Kronwall's season in the AHL during the lockout doesn't count towards his development. You claimed that the Griffs didn't correctly prepare the Wings' defensemen and my rebuttal was that Kronwall spent a great deal of time in GR. How does the exact years he spent there matter again? He could have easily gone back to Sweden and played with one of his past pro clubs there but he stayed in GR. Why do you think that was? I'd say it's more likely that Holland asked him to stay there than anything else. Or maybe he didn't want to return and play in front of his family in Sweden... We both read the stat lines-- I know Fischer made the Wings out of camp. Hell, everyone knows that because he was the first 19 year old defenseman to do that in quite some time. But how the hell does that negate my point? The AHL has a purpose and Holland uses it more than most GMs. But then again he's also got more post-season victories than most GMs so maybe he's half competent?

Smith to be on Wings next season?

The Wings got a 6'5 defenseman who averages 18:50 of ice time a night and ended up with 15pts and a +8... all for the last overall pick of the draft. He needed that time in GR. And guess what? In his first year in the NHL he played on the top pairing with Lidstrom in the Stanley Cup FINALS. Only one person scored in game 7 of the Finals. Guess who it was? Sure seems like Grand Rapids may have helped prepare Ericsson for the NHL. But to you he's a crappy player because he isn't an All Star. By the way-- Kronwall played 102 games with the Griffins. Somehow I doubt that those games didn't contribute to his development. You are right on one point-- Fischer didn't play in Grand Rapids. He played 25 games over two seasons for another AHL team-- the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The Griffins were still a part of the IHL at that time. There's a reason why Kindl and Smith played in the AHL-- they weren't good enough in camp to force Holland to play them in the NHL. If a Doughty walks into camp and blows the team's socks off Holland isn't going to send him to the AHL. You make it sound like Ken Holland ties a 200lb anchor around the necks of these players. I'll tell you one thing-- playing 21mins a night in Grand Rapids as their #1 defenseman beats the hell out of being Derek Meech in the press box.

    interesting possibility

Niedermayer retired because he wanted to spend more time with his family. Rafalski retired because his body was broken. Not a chance.
