    Lids showing off his torso

Hello For all the fans of well trained wings. Lids has been interviewed in a swedish magazine called Café. He's on the front page, take a look: http://cafe.se/nickl...rom-oppnar-upp/

Do you watch the games? Fil has been BY FAR one of our best forwards, and hardest working. Also check the stats page. 2nd in points, tied for first in +/- (I realize +/- is lame, but still makes a point). If you're going to make us read something that long, at least put correct information in it.

    Jonathan Ericsson Watch Thread

Refresh my memory, but wasn't it Brendan Smith who gave the puck away to Vlasic for him to score? Why is it Ericsson getting the hate? What about Zetterberg who looked clueless out there, or Datsyuk and Lidstrom missing their assignment and giving Sharks a short handed goal? Ericsson is just easier to blame? Smith is a complete bonehead, Dastyuk has no heart, Zetterberg is clueless, Lidstrom is looking old and washed up. Lets blame Ericsson!!!

I was actually just quoting you, pointing out your hypocrisy. Apparently negativity and player bashing is acceptable when it's someone you don't like. I'm touched that you went and dug up my old posts though. It's good to know my hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Yes he was. Watch the replay. Vlasic wasn't his man. He helped out Helm, then went over to the slot and was watching Desjardin and Murray. He shouldn't have gone to the left side of the net because Helm was covering that, ineffectively. Like I said, Ericsson was about #4 on the list of responsibility for that goal. Helm got overpowered inthe corner, Hudler and Smith looked confused as to who had who, Hudler lets Vlasic skate away unchecked behind the net, then Helm didn't cover the left side of the net well. For Ericsson to be at the left side of the net he would've run into Helm, been guilty of running around in his own end, and left two players wide open in the slot. It wasn't his responsibility. I'd put Hudler most at fault, for peeling off his coverage of Vlasic, I'm guessing because he thought Smith would pick him up. Still, he shouldn't have let the puck carrier go unchecked behind the Wings net. It was lazy defensive play on his part.

That's exactly what it will be, which is almost certainly why you created it. I guess it's easier just to be negative than be optimistic. And on the play you mention, Hudler, Helm and Smith did a poor job covering their assignments and got outworked or outmuscled. Yet you key in on Ericsson, who was actually moving to the slot to cover Desjardins and Murray after he went over to help Helm. Ericsson is overpaid and likely won't earn his contract, but if you're going to rip on his play, that goal is a poor choice because he's about 4th in line for being responsible. Edited because I couldn't spell Desjardins.

I've been annoyed when others jumped to this conclusion too early, but we're coming up on that all knowing 20 game mark and I think we've sene what we are now... I hate to say it, but this team needs a major shake-up... personnel has been too comfortable for too long and I think certain players are becomming complacent.... I still think we're going to see a blockbuster trade at the deadline... at this point, I really just hope it doesn't include Fil, as he's been our best forward this season and short of our bottom 6, he's the only one that's shown tenancity game in and out...

    Bottom Six Philosophy?

I dunno, did you see how much Datsyuk and Abdelkader were buzzing last night? Thats not beicause their skill levels mesh perfectly that was pure energy from Abdelkader being all over the puck all the time, hitting everything. Also last night, after the lead got outta hand Murray started running around throwing big hits and going out of his way to do so. Same with that ****** bag Brent Burns. Where was that from any of the wings to show Jumbo Joe and Marleau that if they wanna blow the wings out, theyll have some lumps to prove they did it? I dont mind losing, but losing and laying down like a bunch of cowards is pretty embarrassing as a fan

    Bottom Six Philosophy?

Re-signing Miller was the big head scratcher to me once they signed Eaves. Why not go get a bottom six guy who provides something different other than a nearly identical player?

    Bottom Six Philosophy?

I wouldn't mind a little more physicality but its not nearly as black and white as you make it out to be. A physical guy in the bottom 6 isn't going to get our star players playing like they used to. He isn't going to motivate the team to play 60 minutes. He isn't going to help defensive zone turnovers or late period goals. I do think more phsyicality would benefit this team, but I don't think its the solution to all of the problems in Detroit.

We've got to get more physical up front. When it comes playoff time, we don't guys that will ferociously forecheck and wear down the opposition's defense. Many of our fowards are clearly too comfortable taking nights off. We need to bring in some new faces that actually want to play the game. Give 110% every shift. The type of work ethic we lost when Maltby and Draper retired. With Hudler, Brunnstrom, Bertuzzi, and Holmstrom likely to be let go (Barring some real improvement from Brun and Hud), obviously we'll see a few guys brought in. Are Eaves and Miller on one-year contracts? The big gunner for the top 6 is Parise, obviously. As far as bottom 6 forwards that can play a regular shift available this summer: Travis Moen Brandon Prust Kyle Brodziak Dan Carcillo Tanner Glass Tim Jackman Gregory Campbell Ryan Jones Brad Winchester Shawn Thornton Zenon Konopka Ryan Carter Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Parise Franzen-Filppula-Nyquist Abdelkader-Helm-Cleary Prust-Mursak-Eaves Emmerton

    Bottom Six Philosophy?

I've thought this for a while now. Its not about having a bunch if fighters either (which Im sure we'll have plenty of people saying soon). Our bottom 6 is definitely a weakness, theyre very soft besides Helm and Abdelkader. Drew Miller does nothing out there really, hes a dime a dozen 4th liner. Brunnstrom is useless on bottom lines and probably not skilled enouggh to crack the top 6 so whats the point of having him? Really the only people in our bottom 6 I would like to see kept for any significant amount of time are Helm, Abdelkader and Eaves. Ship out Miller, Brunnstrom,Bert and Homer are gone after this year. The wings should bring in at least one more big body on forward. Abdelkader is big and physical for the most part but really the wings have one gritty, big hitter in their entire forward core, not just the bottom 6. Roll with a bottom 6 of Abdelkader Helm Mursak (speed, all three have offensive upside, and all three bring some kind of physical element) Eaves Prust Moen Every single line is capable of playing the game well enough AND would chip in as much offense as what the bottom 6 does now. I seriously dont get why Kenny doesnt go after another physical player after seeing what Drake did for this team in the playoffs. Brunnstrom is getting played for some reason on our 4th line, whe nhe couldnt crack dallas or toronto it doesnt make any sense to me. Drew Miller providing nothing and still being given more than 1 year contracts doesnt make sense to me. I would keep Emmerton as the 13th forward because hes young and a center. edit: just to add, has anyone noticed that even when our skilled players are playing like dogs***, Helm and Abby have always seemed to play well and get constant pressure? Its because they play with grit, hard in the corners and are full of energy. More guys like that instead of wanna be scoring line players like Brunnstrom is what this team needs,

    Bottom Six Philosophy?

Clarkson, Moen, Penner, Nyquist (that one in Dallas)... go after them instead of keeping Miller, Eaves, etc. Two trades may chenge the entire team.

    Make this team better

Ah, yes. We should trade Franzen, whose inconsistency bothers us, for Semin, whose inconsistency utterly peeves Capitals fans at some points--and who, to boot, has known attitude problems. Oh, and he'll cost a lot more. Bear in mind that as much as some of you are ragging on Franzen, he's currently the team leader in scoring with nine goals and seven assists; he plays a good defensive game; and he comes at an affordable price. Semin is currently having an awful season (4G, 5A), is known to be a prick at times, is known to be very lazy at times, and comes at a higher cost. I disagree with said suggestion. It seems like another "let's make a trade for the sake of making a trade" ideas.

    Do They Deserve It?

Another thing with Homer, is that he is more than his point totals. Because of his solid play in front of the net, others (such as the d-men) are getting pucks past the goalie. Without Homer creating chaos in there, those goals aren't happening.

What was the point of re-signing Eaves if he only plays every once and a while? I don't understand why he doesn't play more, he's a better player then Miller, has a good shot, actually plays pretty physical. Babs is a weird guy.
