Morrow and Moen is what we need. Prust and Ruutu would be nice too. Morrow-Datsyuk-Franzen Filppula-Zetterberg-Ruutu Mursak-Helm-Bertuzzi Moen-Abdelkader-Prust Lidstrom - White Stuart - Kronwall Ericsson - Commandore

Datsyuk No 1 Pick for All Star

Very happy to see Pasha being recognized and picked as number one for all star. Good job by Z ! Looking forward to see him shine at all star skills and the game. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=152660

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

It sounds like guys like Parise might be available for relatively cheap. I imagine there are other options out there in similar situations. Teams need to unload some salary or fix unstable locker room situations. I don't see Holland parting with anyone in the top two lines, or even the third line. I see him giving up picks (our 1sts are worthless anyway) and guys like Brunnstrom (unlikely anyone wants him), Miller, Emmerton, or some prospects not named Smith, Nyquist, Jarnkrok or Tatar. That should net us a relatively cheap 2nd liner (Parise) or some grittier playoff presences like Morrow or Moen. I doubt we'd trade even Hudler for anyone, because the return would be relatively limited. Think about it, would you rather have a slight upgrade, or a deeper team? I think going into the playoffs you want to be as deep as you can be. So in an imaginary world Hudler for Parise wouldn't be as beneficial as a bunch of picks for Moen or a few prospects and picks for Parise because we would be that much deeper. (Not a realistic example, it's just that...an example)

i am really surprised at how many people are advocating multiple changes... i know you all want us to get tougher and grittier, but personally, i would rather only make 1 or possibly 2 roster changes down the stretch. its kind of silly to throw off the chemistry of a team that has been top 5 in goals scored and goals against most of the season...

    Winter Classic Idea

If you move the Winter Classic off of New Years Day, here's what you do.... 1. Move it to the weekend after the NFL Conference Championship games & before the Super Bowl 2. Get rid of the All-Star Game 3. Still select All-Stars who compete in the skills competition Saturday night after an alumni game 4. Hold the WC that Sunday where the only competition will be the NBA & college B-Ball

He played for the Panthers, he got 7 more lives.

That's just retarded. He's under no more wear and tear than any other hockey player out there.

I really hope he doesn't turn into Marc Savard. I've been following his story lately, and it's very unfortunate. He wakes up every day with severe headaches, and he said this was normal since the Matt Cooke hit. His 11 year old son is now afraid to play hockey, because he doesn't want to turn out like his dad. But I hope Cindy returns to hockey, it'll be good for the sport, as much as I dislike him.

I'd like to think that Paul MacLean took a lot of what he learned here and applied it to the Sens.

It appears, at this stage, that they may have finally won the Heatley trade.

No more Red Wings/Hockey forum of DETNEWS? What, did Valente and Foster take over the sports forum there?

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

No one mentioned Ericsson. Probably because no one would take him for that contract.

I'd hate for this to happen also... But I think Filppula has the best chance not because he's not producing this year, but because he has the highest trade value for forwards on our team aside from Datsyuk. Holland might bank in on a legit maybe even top 3 forward by shipping out a package of Flip, Stuart, Hudler picks etc.

Yes, you are correct! What have we all been thinking?!?!? Anyway, we all know he has a NTC, but I think that if he had a short list of teams he would accept a trade to, Detroit more than likely would be on it...but thanks for yelling at us about it!

I really hope that the Wings acquire Morrow! I am sure it will cost some prospects along with a roster player. But he is every bit worth it as long as Dallas doesn't try to high ball Holland with a deal that they know Holland won't do... I still think if the Wings got Morrow, Hemsky and Nabokov for the playoff run, they would be a formidable force no doubt! Even if one of our rivals scooped up Perry or Iginla. The Wings have shown before that they can handle those guys. Unless it is a deal that cannot be passed up, I don't think Holland gets Perry/Ryan/Iginla. But back on topic, Morrow would be totally awesome here, plus he is signed for another season so he would be able to see exactly what being a Red Wing is all about and not just spend a few months here and bolt. Brenden Morrow is a keeper. He would be worth signing on long term before he becomes a UFA.

Selanne isn't going anywhere, Hemsky is lazy and injury-prone, Grabovski isn't going anywhere (barring a ridiculous offer), Vermette is not really a producer, and Kostitsyn is a one-dimensional second-liner. Gleason, sure, provided that Ericsson is the one who leaves. I agree that Morrow is not worth buying, given the remaining time on his contract. A lot of people seem to ignore the intangibles of roster management and instead treat trades as they would be in NHL 12.

I never liked this guy. He's too talented and winning comes too easy for him. He doesn't deserve it. I never liked his smug punk face. I hated the fact that he dissed hockey's post-series handshake tradition, one of the greatest traditions in all of sports, and nobody besides Red Wing fans in the NHL called him out for it. As much as I can't stand him I didn't wish the concussion thing on him. Or the NHL. The NHL is responding, finally. Perhaps Cindy Crosby will eventually find his way back on to the ice. So I can see him get drilled again! Let's go Red Wings!

Please, please, please let us get Morrow. Please let Dallas think Ericsson is worth something so he can be part of the package.

One more thing. WE THOUGHT during the 2008 & 2009 Cup Finals that Malkin was the better Pen. And right now Malkin is showing that he IS ALSO the best player in the league (sorry, Pav) so far this season.

I'd much rather get a point producer like Vermette, A.Kostitsyn, Grabovski, Hemsky or Selanne, or a defenseman like Gleason than just bottom line grinder like Morrow or Moen. You should get those type players via free agency because having to give up assets for them is just bad hockey management they are a dime a dozen in the league. Morrow would have been great a few years ago before his injuries, but he's a shell of himself especially for his projected cost, if Holland can get a good deal I'd love it, I just don't see Dallas trading their captain for scraps. And Moen is just a older, slower version of Abdelkader.
