That's about as clever as the people who used to say Osbad. Ericsson is better than both Janik and Kindl. I agree with what this guy said about E: Quincey is a nice addition though he makes Kindl even more expendable.

Smith's first career goal! Amazing to see the youth making a growing impact on this team. Smith's family is in attendance; we've all dreamed about that moment, scoring that first NHL goal. Amazing to see it manifest itself in Brendan Smith. We will all grow to love this kid

It's like scoring on the PP is secondary to playing keep-away.

top NCAA free agent to the wings?

http://watch.tsn.ca/clip576992#clip576975 this would be huge cause they could use some more defenseman in the pipeline. 6'3, mobile dman who grew up playing hockey with Nills kid. If anyone cant see the video Bob Mackenzie basically says this kid is good enough that he is going to get 30 NHL contract offers after this season, hes from Michigan, grew up playing hockey with Nills kid and the wings have the clear inside track. Last game Mackenzie said basically everyone except Mr Illitch himself was there to scout him. Fischer, Chelios, Draper, Holland, Nill, Devellano were all there watching him. Sounds promising, could use some defensive prospects because outside of Smith, theres not much to write home about. Sproul and OUelette are solid but nothing to really write home about

Crosby. The kid is talented, but I hate how we shut him down every game and then he pops in for a game winning goal or some other important goal and then goes back to disappearing. Take the '09 series for example. I don't remember him being a factor until what, game 6? And didn't he score the game winner in that? Stupid.

Players you hate for being good

It always seem like a lot of guys score their first career goal against the Wings. That's who I hate: the guys with no career goals, because you just know that they're going to score.

The only thing that would have been better is if Price had then skated to the other end and scored an open netter! As for Eaves, well at least he got a "shot" off and it didn't give the Kitty Cats the win!

    Filppula is "too nice".

I remember when he first signed the contract, a LOT of folks around here were calling it a bad deal. "Getting paid on potential" I believe was the main gripe. Even before the offensive breakout, Filppula was worth it. And seeing how the cap has continued to go up, $3 mil for a player of Filppula's caliber is ridiculous. Keep going Fil, I'm guessing near 70 points by season's end!

    Brendan Smith watch thread

His first fight in pro hockey, against an AHL goon that fights 25 times a year with years of experience after Smith was fresh outta the NCAA http://www.nhlfightclub.com/videos/24780/brendan-smith-vs-antoine-roussel-dec-11-2011ahl-grand-rapids-griffins-vs-chicago-wolves.html his latest fight against an experienced scrapper. The wings finally have a guy who can play big minutes and play tough. He also throws some pretty big hits, watch him dish out some damage in the corners tonight youll notice it

I would take Ryan Jones over Abdelkader any day of the week. He puts more pucks in the back of the net. A great PK guy. He even beat his ass the other week in a fight.

I compiled some notes from George Malik as he made some observations at the Red Wings Prospect Camp from July 7 - July 14. However, Malik's ability to assess real talent is pretty much as good as any Wings fan who has an amateur knowledge of the game and a strong interest in Wings prospects. If a fan of that sort had access to the prospects camp they could probably come up with similar notes.
