Freaking staggers me that Nyquist, who showed so much effort, was sent back to GR while Emmerton does absolutely stuff all out there EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He's not quick, he's not physical, he doesn't have much skill, he's freaking invisible out there. Nyquist made some mistakes and was pushed aside too often, but man he played with some heart and he at least TRIED to make things happen. It's a joke that we have so many guys floating and not even putting in an effort and the one guy that did got demoted. Way to send a strong message Babcock.

This teams doesn't need a call out...it needs to get healthy. Everything else will fall into place once that happens.

As a matter of fact, remember when there were Blackhawks fans out the ying yang the last couple years seeking the same validation when their team was doing well? Wonder where they ran off to.

I realize that many people on this forum weren't born yet when the Red Wings were a bad team. There's a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of one's team, especially when it is improvement over the recent past. After a number of good years, one tends to take it in stride and expect that the prior results will continue, whereas teams with a history of falling short will show their excitement over small achievements. And so, in many ways, the Wings fans of today are like adults who are so busy striving for the Big Prize that we fail to stop and appreciate the lesser accomplishments that we achieve on our way to the Big Prize. And the Blues fans are like children who still announce to the entire household, "I made poopoo in the potty!"

Is anyone else sick of reading Babcock's post game comments? " I thought we were good for 2 min in the second, we didn't start on time, they played good, we only had one line playing" etc. I wish that he would call this team out or at least those who are simply collecting cheques and not giving a crap. Forget the PP. This team does not compete on a nightly basis and that is becoming a huge problem. Have you ever watched a Wings game and had a pretty good idea what the outcome will be 5 min in? Mike Babcock is a great coach but he needs to inspire this team. Say what you want about Ken Hitchcock but the Blues are playing inspired hockey right now and that is a lot to do with coaching. Getting the boys all back healthy will be a big help but this team has been lacking drive all season. So I think its the coaches job to turn this around now or face a very early playoff exit.

This team is a joke right now. No compete level, no intensity, no skill, no nothing. Dano's playing on one leg, he should just get surgery already. Bert, Franzen, Hudler, Emmerton are doing absolutely nothing out there. The D is leaving Joey out to dry, and he hasn't been that great anyways. I'm afraid that this is more then just missing Lidstrom and Datsyuk, we'll be in 5th place by tommorow night and it's not looking good. This is the worst possible time, to be this ******* bad.

My post really wasn't about an "opinion", I was merely trying to make a point, one you obviously missed. The over-all theme of the point I was trying to make has to do with success, which the Wings have an abundance of, and your teams' lack there of (even when your expectations were high, probably even higher than now). Now let me help you understand it a little better through your homer vision, which is probably the only way you'll comprehend so please bare with me. Just for arguments sake, let's talk about baseball for a moment. Now I know the Tigers are not even in the same league, let alone division as the Cards', but could you imagine a Tigers' fan coming over to a Cardinal's forum BRAGGING about how the Tigers MIGHT win a division title? Even with a much improved Tigers team, considering all the success the Cards' have had it would be laughable, and for good reason! as I said in the other thread, if they lose a season or even half a season, Bettman needs to be canned. It would be the third time the league has lost games under his reign in less than 20 years. And even back in 94 his big battle was about the cap. After basically breaking the union and getting a cap, they damn well better be able to work this out without a lockout. I know it's not all his fault but Bettman sets a very combative tone publicly that everyone gets their hackles up before negotiations even begin.

I don't think that Jimmy, Pavs. Lids, Big Rig, Kindl, Bert, and Eaves are "a guy" . . . nor are three of those players regular "guys" --- You are talking about far and away the best forward on the team (and one of if not the best in the league), far and away the best defenseman on the team (and one of if not the best in the league), and a goalie that people on this site and elsewhere were saying should be considered (although probably not win) the Vezina (and also mentions of a Hart Trophy candidate). Other teams do not lose the combo of guys like that (along with the other four and a severly hobbled Cleary) and just "keep rolling"

At the risk of sounding like Eva, Hudler hasn't been nearly as bad as people are making him out to be. The guy has put up 42 points so far this season, half of which are goals. Are some of them luck or the result of good linemates, of course. However, name one NHL'er who doesn't get lucky goals or benefits from playing with good linemates. s***, Z scores some terribly lucky goals. His off-angle shots always magically go in and sometimes they tend to fall when he's in his worst slumps. Again, I'm in the same boat with you as Franzen. Cleary hasn't been himself much of the season either, but I expect way more out of Franzen than I do #11.

I think those terms might be interchangeable in the Blues' case.

i still to this day do not understand why Adam Oates was traded away, but if the Wings made the playoffs that year, then the course of history may have changed and the picks to come may have been different and they may not have got Lidstrom and Federov... not sure if it mentioned that later in the article, but i got bored reading over and over, "we made a trade"... i wish like hell the Wings kept Oates, but s*** happens. look at the Wings since losing Oates...4 Cups. kinda hard to diss a team that competes for the cup every year and has won it numerous times.
