    Chances of landing Parise?

I respect that your dream respects retired numbers.

Suter most likely out of Nashville

First of all, Parise is NOT weak defensively, have you ever watched this guy play at all? Or are you simply pulling up his stats from this past year (when his centerman was injured for almost the entirety of the year)? And you would rather have HUDLER over PARISE? lol One of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on here.

After we sign Parise. I want Suter here as much as the next guy, but Parise is 1A on the priority list.

    Chances of landing Parise?

Could you imagine how terrible it would be for Penner and Franzen to play on the same line?

Zach Parise is like younger,US version of Henrik Zetterberg and would absolutely love to see him in the Wings sweater

Parise is also great along the boards, goes to the net and has a fantastic shot. Yeah, we don't need someone like that...

Sproul and Ouellet are as close as stud dman in the making as you can find outside of the top 10 picks in the draft. Both have size and put up great offensive numbers. I'd bet both of these guys will crack the top 6 within the next 4-5 years. To think that Jarnkrok and Jurco don't belong in the same sentence as pulks and tatar is crazy. Jarnkrok is for sure considered more of a sure thing than pulks and Jurco already has the size and skill to play in the nhl but needs time to develop properly into a top 6 player. Sheahan is iffy for me. Not sure if he will develop into a top 6 player just because he doesn't have the scoring touch i'd expect at the collegiate level (not enough games in AHL yet to see).

Going forward, I think Sproul and Ouellet have a chance to prove themselves to be real studs this coming season. Both had fantastic years in junior and likely will spend next year in jr where they'll be expected to take another step. Quine and Tvrdon may be in GR next season where they'll have a shot to prove they can score at the professional level. Quine will be exciting for his retarded skating ability alone, although he's a former 2nd overall OHL draft choice I doubt he'll be anything too amazing offensively next year. Having his skating skill is still nice. Tvrdon excites me because he's a big guy who can still get bigger and he has legitimate top-6 offensive talent. I hope he makes a smooth transition to the AHL and stays healthy.

Just to change it up a bit...

I want to see Yzerman as GM after Holland retires, I'm sure he'll figure out the rest.

    Chances of landing Parise?

I was confident that Parise was going to sign with the Wings on July 1st. But centcougar07 told me that he isn't so I've given up all hope. Hudler is the better player anyway and I expect a new Franzen like deal for him. Just kidding of course. I voted 100% and look forward to telling centcougar07 to kiss my ass, I told ya so. Oh and we're getting Suter too. 100% on this. I said so it is a fact.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

You'd think the fact that Sweden is using him on their World Championship roster over several NHL players that he's one of the better prospects out there. He's also dominating the faceoff circle over there winning over 60% of his draws. That would be a nice addition to the Wings puck possession style of hockey. As far as the Wings ability to build internally through the draft, show me a team with more players on their roster they drafted and developed. Nashville might be the only one who compares and I believe they are tied.

Suter most likely out of Nashville

No offense Richdg, but I second this... I'm not sure if you've watched Parise play, but he's a very solid two-way player. He'd fit in Detroit's system very well (at least on paper) and will bring some serious offensive help, if they can manage to sign him. I'm in agreement with everyone saying that the team needs offense more at this juncture, but I can't help but want Suter too. Getting both guys would bring the whole "Christmas in July" thing to life for me.

I'm hesitant to add Jurnkrok to the list of "elite" prospects. In the scope of this this organization maybe but not in terms of league wide prospects. Then again, I wouldn't consider many of our prospects making the cut for the latter group. I just don't see it. I know it's not a popular position to hold but I think our prospects are average. I really want to see some work done by Holland on that front this summer. It's not longer just "we're the Red Wings, we don't rebuild we reload". You have to build internally through the draft and by developing prospects.

I want Parise more, but our defense is really deteriorating fast and we NEED Suter more. Defense drives this team.

If we get both Parise and Suter, it'll be like Christmas. I will be so absurdly stoked.

Suter most likely out of Nashville

Nashville would have zero chance at both keeping Suter and landing Parise. They have 15 players (8 UFA, 7 RFA) to try to re-sign (or replace), including Weber, Suter, both Kostitsyn's, Radulov, Gill, Bouillon, and Tootoo. If we assume that the cap goes to $70 mil, that leaves 15 players to sign with $43 million in cap space. There's just not enough room to sign their crucial players (Weber, Suter, the Kostitsyn's) to raises over their salaries this year, AND try to land Parise. Even if they managed to pull that off, they would have no offensive depth, very little defensive depth past Weber & Suter, and one of the most expensive goalies in the league. Not exactly a good way to pursue that whole "one goal" thing. But I'll agree. Suter in Detroit? Yes please!

    Helpful cap site.

Yeah, CapGeek is the go-to site for most of LGW regarding possible signings and trades. Little known fact, our own Matt helped design their current cap calculator with their most recent overhaul.

    The new guys thoughts.....

Thanks bud, i puked some of my lunch up in my mouth when i read Pacioretty.... This offseason, it's Parise or bust. The Wings could use Suter, but Parise is needed more as the Wings have decent depth at D and could always throw an offer at Weber next offseason. Smith will be up full time next year as he should have been this year. Send Prust an offer July 1st, there's some toughness and a quality player that could play on the 3rd line and rotate on the 2nd to get Z the puck. The Wings don't need a complete overhaul, they just need to let pieces go that no longer belong. Taking an entire team and dismantling them is just pure stupidity. Guys like Sheahan and Jarnkrok will be on the team for sure probably starting the 2013 season and we'll most likely see more youth in the next couple years. To suggest trading away Dats and Z, you are not a true Wings fan. That's like saying the Wings should have traded away Federov and Shanahan back in the day. Lets wait to see what Kenny does before we lose our s*** and use taglines like "EA Sports, it's in the game"

    The new guys thoughts.....

Wow, you make blanketed statement with the age and injury thing I understand we lost a lot of players due to injury but you cant just say that the team is old. How about Helm, Ericsson, Kindl, Mursak, Quincey and Eaves. ALL missed 10 games or more due to injury....average age...23.5 years. Kinda debunks your myth because from where I am sitting, young guys get hurt just like the old geezers...No question that it takes older guys longer to heal- It also takes experience on how to take a hit, when to press and when to sit, how to fall so you dont hurt yourself. No doubt this team is missing a few key parts...It became evident as year wore on BUT this is also the same team who won 23 games in a row at home, setting a new NHL record and did a lot of things right. If this team is capable of that, we dont need a major overhaul. We dont need to look at replacing 10 people on this team in the next 2 years.....thats NOT gonna happen and it shouldnt. Key components with our core group and the Wings will be where they want to be. PS Love David Jones? Bigger, Stronger, Faster, Healthier..No, missed 11 games due to injury. Just sayin'

Even at only 50% he's been playing better than most of our guys who are at 100% healthwise... ridiculous.
