Throw the bank at RFA Shea Weber?

Tone it down, Rich. Advocate physical hockey all you want, but pulling the Internet Tough Guy card is uncalled for. Definitely not a fan of Shea Weber after the game 1 incident, but there's no doubt he'd make Detroit a better team. That said, there's no way he'd be worth trying to sign to an offer sheet. We'd have to offer a ridiculously high amount to ensure that Nashville doesn't simply match the deal, and then we'd lose 4 1st round picks if they didn't match. Losing 4 1st round picks, and being sandbagged with a massively over-inflated contract? Pass. Even if it is for one of (if not THE) best defensemen currently playing the game today.

If you are such a wimp go watch soccer. As Micky points out time and time again, nothing repeat nothing gets a crowd more worked up than a good fight. Hell the great player in RW history Mr. Hockey himself has a term named after him. The Gordie Howe hat trick. Goal, assist, and a.......... FIGHT! if you don't like a good fight, might I suggest going to watch a polo match, or maybe some gymnastics. Perhaps ballet is in your future.

    Petr Mrazek

http://www.redwingscentral.com/prospects/mrazek.php Position: Goaltender Catches: Left Vitals: 6'0'' / 162 lbs. Birthdate: February 14, 1992 Hometown: Ostrava, Czech Republic Acquired: Detroit's fifth choice (141st overall) in the 2010 draft CSS Ranking: 25th North American Goaltender (2010) SCOUT COMMENTS "He's not huge in the net but by the way he competes, he plays bigger than what he is. He's got real good athleticism, he moves well post-to-post and he never gives up on any shots. If you're not that big and you move quick and can read the play well as he does, it makes up for size." — Red Wings scout Joe McDonnell (June 2010). STRENGTHS No. 1 asset in the Red Wings' eyes is his competitiveness ... Never gives up on a play, either battling for a sight line or diving with a last-ditch effort to stop a puck ... Acrobatic and athletic ... Quick lateral mobility ... Tremendous focus and confidence, key assets for a goalie. WEAKNESSES The days of Chris Osgood-sized goaltenders are fading, and while Mrazek isn't that small, he's definitely below-average in that department ... Was only a late-round pick because scouts have had limited viewing: Mrazek has never carried the starting load. Can he?

You mean like this? The Red Wings weren't angels back in the day. If they go back to that tough, rough, slightly dirty game, I'll be fine with it. I enjoy new types of Wings teams.

Suter was drafted higher as well, same year. People are not talking about fighting or standing up for your team, they're talking about being a ******* ****** bag goon.

Good lord, guy, quit taking the steroids. Good physical hockey is great - gooning it up isn't. If you like that kind of rough stuff so much, just stick to cage fighting.

I think for the first time ever I kind of agree with you here. Sure what Weber did was a dick move, but it didn't injure Zett and if it came down to that incident determining if people would want Weber here or not, i'm kind of surprised how many are saying they would pass because of it. Fact is, Weber is still a big, physical, scoring defensemen. What Lemieux did to Draper legitimately condemns him from this team, what Weber did to Zett doesn't in my opinion. I'd still take him in a heartbeat, the guy is among the best D guys in the league and offers just about everything you'd want out of a big defensemen. I still don't think he leaves Nashville though. What Bert did was against Colorado, not Detroit. I'm sure if he did what he did to a Wings player he would not be playing on this team.

    Conn Smythe Predictions

They've lost two games throughout the entire playoffs. I seriously doubt they're going to lose 4 of the next 5. But yes, Quick will win it for sure.

Assuming L.A. wins the Cup, it's Quick without a doubt.

Why wouldn't you try to get a top level prospect through free agency? Every team in the league is going to make him an offer, so it all depends on who puts together the best welcome package.

We won't get him IMO. Wouldn't mind having him though.

    Standing sections in the NHL

Although I prefer the more fanatic european culture to the more business orientated NHL one, after watching the following I know who the best supporters are and its not even close. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=zpTJISyKGrA

He seemed to have a really good camp last September so give him a few more years and I'd expect to see him in a Wings Jersey one day!!

You have to love this guy. ... I mean besides his stupid childish celebrations. He better get that out of his system before he makes it up to this level.

if he was so good, then why didn't he stay the full year? Again, he didn't beat anyone out. in fact we went out and picked up Quincey while Smith was healthy in GR. That is the point. Yes he has talent. But last season he wasn't able to take a job from Stuart, Kindl, E, White, Quincey, etc...... He did manage to beat out Commadore......

This would be a really solid move for the Wings. Spent almost 2 months of the season down in Florida for work, so I caught quite a few panther games. And all I can say is I was really impressed with what I saw on a nightly basis. He has a pretty hard shot at the point, likes to get involved with the offense, yet seems to be defensively sound. Plus he's young, and presumably we can sign him for a reasonable price.
